As a McDonald's employee of 13 years: I always change my gloves if i touch anything non food related. Never have or seen anyone spit in food. Drop fresh fries when asked (its not hard). I hear you when you say not every store is bad or good. Just giving some people a little hope. I take safety very serious
I worked at McD for about 2 hours while in High School. My 1st assignment was to empty the trash cans from the restaurant lobby. I did, but was then scolded for not emptying the bags and reusing them to re-line the cans. But when I tried, warm milk and funk ran up my arms...I quit immediately.
Don’t even blame you, grocery bagging or dishwashing is better.

Sadly you didn't get a good restaurant, that is technically a dismissable offence, if you did it without realizing your suppose to throw the whole bag away you'd get told but if that was habit then it's dismissable, shame you didn't know you contact corporate because they'd have the manager or whoever told you to do it either warned or fired, the health department of your town or city would also have a field day with a surprise visit to the restaurant

I never actually spit in someone's food, but one time it was about 2 in the morning and I was working at an all-night Deli making a sandwich for a drunken fool who was being a jerk. After a couple minutes of being berated for no reason, I turned him and said don't you think the one person you should be nice to is the person who's preparing your food? After that not only was he nice, his friends that were acting up he told to shut the f up and be nice. Then he gave me a $5 tip for $4 sandwich

I worked at a Burger King as a what they call an hourly manager and I had a customer come in she bought 432 oz sodas when the cashier handed them to her she went to put them down on the floor of her SUV and ended up spilling all four sodas I give her towels and everything she would need to clean up the mess but because I did not physically go outside and clean her car for her she called the corporate number and had me fired and according to my department of labor if that function of cleaning out a customer's car when they spilled their drink or whatever is not in the handbook then it's not part of my job and I don't have to do it but at the time it wasn't worth fighting it so I just said add a hell with it and walked away and it's the best thing I ever did

Something kind of similar happened to me at McDonald’s but not that much. My situation involved my manager myself and another coworker. The manager asked me to do the other employees job which was to do the stock. Now mind you the McDonald’s I worked at was at an airport and in order to get to our storage room we had to walk about 8-10 mins to the basement of the airport to get to the storage room. Than we had to load our cart with whatever we needed, take it upstairs and than we had to go through security which means we had to unload the entire cart of items and place them in the scanner and than reload them back onto the cart only to have to unload them again once we got back to the store. That’s a lot of work and I refused to do it when my manager asked me to so she sent me home. I immediately said ok bye lol I got her back good the next day though lol

@@basicallyabagel well every morning we used to start at 3am to get everything ready to open the store by 4am. The thing is normally it would only be 2 people that would start at 3am. It was the manager and myself. I would get everything ready in the kitchen and the manager would get everything ready in the front line. The day she sent me home was basically because she wanted me to do the stock guys job when he was there at the store. The stock guy was a kiss ass suck up to the manager type. He simply didn’t want to do his job and so she wanted me to do it. Since I refused she sent me home. I left right away but I was absolutely livid. So since I knew that the same manager and myself would start at 3am the next day, I only went in just so I can quit and to make her feel the consequences of having to get the entire store ready by herself. I thought about calling in and quitting over the phone but than I thought that would give them enough time to find someone to take my 3am shift the next day. When she wanted me to do the stock, I was already working hard and a lot on the grill by myself. Working on the grill by yourself for breakfast at McDonald’s is bad enough on it’s own but when the McDonald’s you work at is inside of a busy airport it’s even worse. To think that she wanted me to do that and the stock which is also a lot of work as I stated previously pissed me off. So I wanted her to do a lot of work the next morning by herself and I accomplished it lol sorry for the long paragraph lol

On the gloves I think it depends on the company, I worked for a place called Sheetz, we had different types of gloves, one was for cleaning bathrooms, taking out trash, etc. Another for food preparation, if you touched your face with those gloves, you had to change them. (and that was pre covid). Not being a shill for them, but when it comes to food prep, cleanliness, and food safety, they are 100%.
Most places do, but few practice it.
I don’t know about today but back in the ‘80s I worked for both Dunkin Doughnuts and the Thriftway Bakery section of the store at 3 am to help make the donuts fresh from scratch. Although the soup at Dunkin Donuts was made at the corporate office and shipped to us frozen for us to place in a slow cooker to heat and ready to be served by lunchtime. Loved those days!

I used to work at a McDonald’s on the grill for only the morning shifts. I always did my best to maintain the grill as clean as possible. However if you looked behind the grill it was always very filthy and almost never cleaned. I would’ve done it myself but that requires more work to clean all the grease that was back there and I just didn’t have time to do it because I had to start cooking. Also one time when I was cracking the eggs open to make the round eggs there was blood that came out of one of the eggs. Of course I didn’t cook it and had to discard that whole batch of eggs which I had just put down on the grill
I’ve personally saw a Wendy’s employee wash their hands with the gloves on 🤣
How is that bad or funny? I do that if I have a cut. Need a glove so you don't burn skin with sanitizer over an over.

I have my food handlers license ( food safety for NYC) and Serv Safe and if a health inspector saw that they would go ballistic ☠️. You need to use new gloves. If you have a cut you bandage it and out a glove on it but you need to always use new ones. Why do you think a box have 100 gloves inside ?
@@elliekim6666 don't handle food bud. An I was talking about sanitizer. I handle money. If I have a cut I have to have glove on an still sanitize both hands even with glove on. Not gonna feel burning hell over an over without glove an no need to take I off a millions times a day. That's ridiculous for me. I do change it. Just not crazy like with food people

Fun Fact at the McDonald’s I work at we grab the already cooked salted fries put them in the fryer again and it removes the salt

You're probably looking for some "fail" comments here, but I have worked at two different restaurants and only have good things to say.
-McDonald's (summer of 1988, Buckeye Lake, Ohio, USA)
The place was spotless. My job was making McChicken. One time a supplier had given us a bag of lettuce that seemed a little soggy. It was replaced immediately. I never experienced anything that was wrong in any way.
-Grace Oriental Garden (1993, North Canton Ohio, USA)
A mostly Korean restaurant, bu we served "Chinese" food, too. The place was totally clean and everything was used up on time and no waste that I could detect. An inspector randomly came one time and I showed him how proud I was of how I had cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms. Someone else cleaned the dining room but they must have done well because we got a good score.
I was once asked to "sit on the new batch of kimchi" in order to press the water out. Sitting there I thought: "Hey gravity. You and I are doing a good job."
My university (Malone University) classes let out, but they asked me to come back for Mother's Day. Someone said they didn't believe I would really return, but I did. It didn't turn out to be as lucrative of a day as expected, so I got to clean the range hood filters out back, with a new guy. I found out later that he got cut on something and was bleeding everywhere.
Here's another weird situation:
I cut so many onions that I'm now completely immune to the "onion crying" phenomenon. I can cut, slice, and dice onions to no end and not 'cry' because of that. When guys say "damn onions" about a moving video, I can't honestly say that anymore. I have to directly say "that was a moving video and I actually shed some tears". I suck at lying.

South Park did an episode titled "You're Not Yelping" where restaurant employees um...gave food VERY SPECIAL TREATMENT to Yelpers who were very critical of their food... if you want the GORY DETAILS... you have to watch that episode!
Refried beans aren't always vegan. They're sometimes cooked with manteca- beef lard.
Even worse when your cook is 550 lbs and always puts his bacon grease into the beans for authentic pork flavoring, and tells guests that the beans are Kosher.
I worked in restaurants for over 30 years. I have never once seen or heard of anyone mess with a customer's food.
Specials are true, they need to sell almost expired food, but they are still good.
Fresh fries, what I ask for is if they have fries down, I ask for them without added salt. They don't have to clean the bin, just scoop mine before adding any salt (I feel they over salt fries anyway).

You pay a buck or two for a burger or taco. What do you think it is? It’s not a ground up Kobe beef steak. Don’t set the bar too high for quality or expectations with fast food. You get what you pay for.

I like this channel because it's like a better version of watchmojo. You guys should slowly start doing more types of videos about food, rather than top 10s every day. I think that would make your channel grow much more and much faster. But still props to interesting top 10s :)
Ok it's been a couple of years since I worked at McDonald's but I can tell you when I worked at the specific restaurant I worked at we never refried the fries when it came fresh fries, the managers would have thrown a fit but it is a pain in the butt when a customer asked for fresh fries when it's at a peak time, because it's just a pain in the butt during that time but also at that time fries are always fresh because they go through them that fast they don't have time to get old, and unsalted fries are also a pain at peak time because you have to waste any fries that are still in the fry dump then wipe out the fry dump before you can drop more into it, lightly salted are a touch easier because you don't wipe it out you just dump the fresh fries into the dump and mix them so they pick up whatever's left of the salt in the dump area, you still waste fries but at least the not wiping it out saves a minute or so and in fast food a minute is a long time
It also garantee's fresh fries without asking for unsalted fries if all your trying to do is get fresh fries
Also spitting on someone's food is totally a dismissable offence at McDonald's, no warnings or anything, your out the door there and then
We have horrible service over here in these part of the woods and fresh is never consistent for fries. MCD, Whataburger, Wendy's, Arbys, Carl's Jr., Panda Burger, Burger King, Dairy Queen, and Wienerschnitzel will hit you dirty with them stale assed fries when they are slow or after a rush. You have to hit these places when they are real busy to get hot fried foods otherwise you will be disappointed.

Taco Bell meat is frozen in a bag shipped to store with the seasoning on there already. Kfc fresh chicken but some of the chicken is stored in a heater. So are the sides made in batches.

I went to Taco Bell for the first time in years and it was disgusting. tasted like an armpit with cinnamon. that food is gross and overpriced.
Ooooo...I'm so GLAD Babble Top brought up Taco Bell's "meat!" After tasting Filiberto's which has locations in California and Arizona...and tasting REAL Mexican food using REAL meat... Taco Bell just doesn't cut it for me anymore...their "taco meat" doesn't taste like REAL meat...the texture is weird...once you have REALLY REAL Mexican food...you will SCOFF at Taco Bell...well...just use REAL meat...is it really that difficult???

One thing a lot of people fail to realize when it comes to gloves is that foods that are to be cooked DO NOT require gloves. You will not see people wearing gloves wile preparing a pizza for example. (Though the rules may be different due to covid)
When the Pizza is cooked, then they'd need gloves if they have to handle the pizza.
Whenever I see videos of people preparing to be cooked foods, there is always one 'Where are hiz glovez??" idiots in the comments.

I worked at a Subway years ago, Swan Center Birmingham, UK. Gloves were changed regularly, after every sub or item was made and it was followed by all employees at the time.

the gloves in the thumbnail are recyclable they're intended for you to scoop your hand in, use it, and toss it. any decent place will enforce this but that trashy McDonalds you only go to when you have to they probably don't wear gloves at all. probably spit in your food whether your nice or not also
You’re right. I worked at McDonald’s and had to use those exact gloves for a one time use only. The thing was that we were told to only use those gloves for when we are touching raw meats.
