    Nice tutorial Tom! I've seen those tools, but never used them before. Seems straight forward. Does make it a pain with electric start though, pulling off the ring gear and starter.

      Thanks Ken.
      Luckily I had another TRA clutch without the starter ring on it. I did the alignment with that one and installed the estart clutch afterwards. I didn’t want to deal with trying to remove the ring gear. Lol

    nice video, bought a 98 mxz 583 so looks almost exactly like that. I have something going on with my clutch alignment or belt, there's this terrible clunking when I accelerate and it definitely creeps when I come down from higher speeds and use the break to stop, and I can hear it squeak. after about a minute it idles normal again and no creeping, smooth as when I start it. I'm a rookie so perplexed on if it's the belt or something else. I adjusted the secondary because belt was sitting low in it and now it's level or about 1/16 above, but the clunking is worse, which makes me think it might be the belt, but nothing looks wrong with it from what I could tell.

      Check the belt too make sure it’s not burned. Look for a narrow spot on the belt. It’s the equivalent of driving with a flat tire

    How do you know if are at a good distance from each other?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  7 месяцев назад

      The tool will set the alignment front and back. It will only line up once everything is in the correct position.

      You’ll need a different alignment bar.

      I do hope so, I don’t really have any experience in clutch alignment this is the first time I’m doing this

      @@StreetersGarageok so a just checked, mine is a 2003 summit 550fan rer zx chassis with a powerblock from factory and I can’t seem to find confirmation that it is the right tool, some say it is but some say it’s not so I’m biased, I tried with the old school way by measuring like the specs tell me in the manual but it’s not clear enough for me to understand.

    How does that set forward and backward?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      It’s how it locks into the sheaves on the primary is what sets the center to center distance. Basically everything needs to be in the correct orientation for the gauge to even come close to fitting.

      5:56 does the two clutch needs to be back to back with the tool like in between right there

    Does this bar allow for engine torsion twist under full load ?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  10 месяцев назад

      You would adjust the torque stop

    • @jeffreyhagelin3672
      @jeffreyhagelin3672 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@StreetersGarage The torque button requires a small gap away from the engine.. The factory actually requires a set specification to allow for engine deflection or twist under full load..
      That perfectly straight bar doesn't allow for that twist.
