    Apply gentle pressure and tap the bend with a rubber mallet. Pops right back in.

    Man what a piece of crap lol. Good work bud, I have to replace mine. If this ever happens with the new one I'll do the flatblade screwdriver trick

    Thank you. The Door hinge bracket broke off and I needed to close my tailgate. Do you know if the arm and bracket can be replaced?

    Ok, what exactly am I doing with the screwdriver!? I’m having the same issue where it completely popped out

      You are using the screwdriver to keep the stay rod aimed properly at the hole it needs to pop back in to. Without the screwdriver, the stay rod will not remain aligned with the hole and will not pop back in. The force on the screwdriver needs to lever the stay rod towards the center of the hole, which means you will be pulling the handle of the screwdriver towards the back of the Jeep while you are trying to close the tailgate.
