- On May 4, 2017, after nearly 40 on-and-off years as Tracy Quartermaine, Emmy-winning actress Jane Elliot will sign off of "General Hospital" for the final time. Never failing to entertain the viewers, we have laughed and cried with Tracy.
It's hard to get 39 years worth of clips into a 4 minute video, so I chose to focus solely on the dynamic between Tracy & her family - the Quartermaines. From her days as the reprehensible daughter of Edward & Lila to her years as a mother to Ned & Dillon. And lastly, her twilight years as the only one left from the family she grew up with, and reigning matriarch of the family alongside Monica.
Congratulations on your retirement, Jane Elliot!!! There will never be another one like you!!!

This makes me think of my grandmother. She watched this show up until her death. She had even went blind and would just listen to this show.

Through all the recasts we see in this video they always brought Jane back instead of looking for someone else. Tracy is one of the most overlooked characters in day time. A strong woman who never let her guard down.
There is no one like JE/TQ. Loved the character. Enjoy your retirement. Hope you come back every now and then.

Arguably one of the deepest and most complex characters on the show. Definitely one of my favorites! I hope she enjoys retirement.

that was Edward holding her, but not sure which one. It wasn't David Lewis, uncertain if it was Les Tremayne or the 3rd one whose name I cannot remember. ..

I LOVE Jane Elliot and always will. I miss seeing her so much and want her to come back. But she has to do what is right for her; even though we all are worse off with out her light in our lives.

The soap has changed so much the good writers they don't have them anymore Gloria died and Luke Spencer that is no longer there with in the show so it's always an emptiness once you know what I take a peek at it but it's always empty something's missing so I don't even watch it at all

She's from the early days of general hospital the early days of the quartermaines general hospital is not the same without the quartermain especially her and Allen and all that craziness I stop seeing that show a long time ago but I saw it many years everything has to come to an too bad it's a good things well enjoy your retirement Tracy

have been watching GH for a little over a year so it was sad for me to see Tracy go! I loved her character! I watched several earlier episodes so I could get the gist of what she was all about. Sad to see her go but for Jane Elliot I'm sure she would love the down time! and who knows maybe she will come back periodically!!
Wonderful video! Tracy has been my favorite character and there will be an emptiness without her. Thank you for including Lulu. I loved their relationship (Lulu needed a mom and Tracy was there for her, for better and worse).

OMG I just used an entire box of Kleenex! thank you for posting this, it was amazing to see all the young faces and old faces who were once young at the time. The original Mr. Quartermaine & Lila, OMG and Alan :( I still can't believe I missed this entire month of MAy and missed Tracy's departure and to see Luke at the final scene was amazing! Jane Elliott was the best character actor on GH and I've loved Tracy since day one in 1979!!!! Happy Retirement Jane, Tracy enjoy your $60 million jetsetting the world with Luke....:) Love & peace, always. GH's biggest fan! Cookie "I just want my mommy" it breaks my heart everytime I see that scene!

in 1980 i had a premature baby. i named her Tracy Hillary. She didn't live long but that's the effect that JE had on me. A truly great actress.

It’s going to be a sad day when Jane Elliot passes away
For some reason I thought I commented on this already? Maybe I did on Tumblr? Anyway, lovely tribute and song choice. Much better than the clips GH chose. I started thinking more about Tracy/Jane lately because my great aunt recently passed (age 87). I don't have a relationship with my other great aunts, but she and I were close. We used to talk about Tracy. Unfortunately, we didn't get to talk much in the last couple of years. I last spoke to her in February and then left a birthday message for her in June. I wished I started calling her more like I used to. Not just to talk about Tracy, but just to talk. Anyway, this is off topic now. My apologies. Once again, great video! Thanks for taking the time to create it.

Jane Eliot may have signed off in 2017, but she would came back to help GH celebrate the shows 60th anniversary. Tracy may have done some things like withholding Edward's ❤ medication, but in her own way, she's about family.

Jane has not passed away - she has simply retired.
I like General Hospital please bring it back on the on the air for my mom and me to watch please bring it back to the hospital I'd like to all the characters in there too and please bring it back from my mom and me
I watched off and on over the years and I have to say that she and Anthony Geary had better chemistry together than he did with Genie Francis. She was always my favorite on GH.

MrCraigblaze Yeah, Tracy thought he was having a heart attack and died and then he popped up and scared her.
As for 1993, IIRC, she didn't want to leave initially, but there were things promised that fell through, and also she disagreed with the writers' portrayal of Tracy after Tracy blackmailed Jenny over her abortion.
Jane was then supposed to go to ATWT, but Douglas Marland passed away before that role came to be.
