Yah, that’s slick. When I have to choose one suspension, I rarely choose whoopie slings due to limitations in close setups. This is a great versatile fix (though my beetle buckles are still gonna get the nod 😉).
I received my new whoopies today and compared them with the original dutch whoopies with hooks. I made some adjustments to use these new whoopies with my banyan bridge hammock: 1. I removed the included 5' tree huggers. Out here in the west, I need to use longer straps. This means that I need to use either a marlinspike or becket hitch to connect the whoopies to the straps. I will use my 12' spider 1.5 straps instead. 2. I removed the included continuous loops. Since I have a banyan bridge hammock, I don't need the CLs with constrictor loop and removed those. The banyan has a built in fixed loop that can hook/wrap around the diamond knot loop on the new whoopies. This setup now resembles my original whoopie sling setup, except that I'm connecting to the new whoopies via a diamond knot instead of the whoopie hook and the bury is much shorter. On the original Dutchware whoopies, I measured the minimum length from the fixed eye to the dutch hook at 20". On the new whoopies, I measured the minimum length from the fixed eye to the diamond knot loop at 15". I think this 10" of reduction in minimum length is good. I'm going to do some test hangs while the weather is clear out here. Side note for anyone working at Dutchware: It would be nice if tree straps and no straps/huggers were options for these new whoopies. Also, it would be nice if the continuous loops were optional for people with bridge hammocks.
It depends on how you end up using it. The loose end can be a water break if it's under the hammock. If not, and you have enough of that loose end left over, tie it just under your tarp, leaving some dangling. You could always just carry 2 pieces of cordage or shoe strings if you want back up just in case you have to use it fully extended.

I don't believe in it. I believe that it works and will work but the life span will be much shorter because you're relying too much on a weakness. That is where one end goes through the whole of another without a burry or something there to stop it from expending. So I like some of the ideas but not all.
If I’ve understood the video correctly, the locked Brummel still has the proper bury, the length of which is then used to create the diamond knot instead of laying out its full length? I don’t know how much the diamond knot would reduce the final strength of the suspension but generally Amsteel will hold many multiples of what’s being asked of it in a hammock sling application, I should think.
Yeah, exactly, that's what I was thinking. The bury is hidden in the knot! That gets rid of the length. It's probably even more secure, too, than a bury alone. @@hlprmnky

How's this suspension handle water? Right now I use a dutch biner as my water break between whoopie sling and hammock continuous loop.

You mean the one on the hugger? It’s to replace a carabiner or other metal and works well Jeff Meyers been doing this stuff for 5+ years
