Many thanks for this! Have you tested the strength of that in-built soft shackle? To me it seems like it would be a significant weak spot at the double splice where the loose end with the double knot exits. Or that the lopp would slip when its not used as a shackle. The rope itself is of course many times stronger than needed, but I wouldn't be surprised if this fails somewhere below 50% of its rated capacity. And if it's no problem in practice, why not use a couple more splices, getting rid of the short bury completely for an even shorter sling? Also, have you tried the Ashley stopper knot anything? No. 526. I got some soft shackles with that knot, and I'm not sure about it's use on Amsteel. But it's a simple still very nice looking knot.
Several questions here let me see if I can respond to all.....first off you mention a weak spot??? What ??? Bro we aint weak we frigging strong as heck my brother!! Now look here buddy, the whoopie sling exit has always been a weak spot but it still holds...so no worries at all Sit! Come right back for more questions !
@@jeffmyers7062 I see. I haven’t tried making a whoopie sling yet but am going to try for the first time tomorrow. I saw someone mentioning tapering but I didn’t really quite fully understand how or what the purpose is.

Excellent video! Where did you get your splice tool?
Hi, I have a post in the community tab on it , and a short video ruclips.net/video/zxsSeTZEkXY/видео.html
Do you taper your amsteel ends before making whoopie slings?
@@allourep yes
Ultimately it does not matter though...the whoopie large loop exit point has about 5 times the stress of the spliced loop...yet still holds up...

makes pulling it through easier and it is for max strength
