It was one of the best phones I ever owned.
Replaceable battery
ir blaster
Big screen
S pen
Oh and it had better cameras than iPhone at the time
I'm watching this video currently on a galaxy note 4. Currently using an aftermarket 4200mah battery since the original was toast. Phone works fast to this day and perfect for what I use it for. Normal photos, social media and Web browsing. Even a little bit of video editing too.
@Brian_R6 Good for you. It was a beast. 👍👍
I suggest changing the TouchWiz launcher to another one from Play store, I alternated with a couple, Lean, Apex, etc. Mod the back cover to make it louder. Hope it serves you as well as mine did. 😁
I'm buying again haha.
@@JohnDoe-md2sb Touchwiz launcher is fine
But the other ones are less ressource hogs so it'll be much snappier. I also reduce the animation settings to 0 which also made it faster.
@@JohnDoe-md2sb I rooted and debloated mine and did the 0.5x trick and it's pretty snappy but I'm using Kitkat and Lollipop respectively instead of Marshmallow
The Note 4 is widely known as one of the best Notes ever made. I miss mine. Just sold it on eBay for $30 last month after sitting in a drawer for years. Replaceble battery was awesome.
What lastest android can update on it?
@@sentinel9933YT Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
I bought it on olx at 31 $
@@mryashtourister9580 The Note 4 was WAY ahead if its time. I had a Note 8 that wasn't as good in many ways. I am back to an s22 due to small size and I is a very good phone , but the the 2 phones I miss are the Note 4 and Google Pixel 3.
I just got one as a first smart phone for my 7 year old daughter for $50 it was a great deal . Iv had every note since the note 3 . I have the note 20 ultra now and my wife got the s23 ultra because its basically a note . I forgot I didn't have a note 5 because they didn't really release in the UK and they where really hard to find
I had this since day 1 of its release. Always been my favourite Note ❤️
I still have and using this ancient Samsung Note 4.
@incrediblegb Good for you. It was a beast. 👍👍

Isnt the software outdated now?
Outdated in a way...yes. You won't have the latest perks that android 13 has but don't kid yourself, marshmallow 6 has plenty of options that newer non-Samsung phones don't even have.
It's actually sturdy. Tech bloggers don't represent your average consumer.
The childhood memories man 😢
Commenting from my Note 4, it's crazy how premium this phone still feels. The screen is incredible and the camera is still decent. Found mine in perfect shape for $40, popped my SIM card in and it works like new
One of my best smartphones. Never any issues. It was awkward to hold in one hand though. Was a beast back then for its time, even surpassed other newer brands and models for a few years. By todays standards it would struggle but still worked very well. TouchWiz was so so, I installed another launcher to keep it snappy and more modern. Moded the removable back cover to make the sound even stronger. Never rooted. I sold it 2 years ago to go with an S9+...missed it for a while after. Lol
Smartphone companies should be obligated to support security updates regardless of age.
Removable batterie were such a plus for older phones. 🔋
I feel the same way. It was the GOAT at the time and lasted years after it was released. You could add wireless charging if you wanted. It was top of the display game for years to come. I was sad when it died after five years of use.
Dude my Note 4 on Kitkat or Lollipop can run circles around the iPhone
Facts
Are we really being this delusional?
@@note4burner wut?
@@DavidNgo86 The almost decade old Note 4 is not running circles around an iPhone. The iPhone 6 that came out around the same time as the Note 4 was still getting support up until iOS 12.5.7 (2021). The note? Tapped in 2.
@@note4burner lmao it is running circles around an iPhone 6 as the final big software updates tend to bog down the phone.
Still got mine since 2014, it still works fine, just need a new battery. This phone was a beast back then. I remember trolling friends shutting off their tv's and stereos with the IR blaster. It has a pulse sensor, notification led, fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, it was an awesome Device! I wish they would bring back those things to the flagship phones, but they wont even put a charger in the box today. Pretty sad
I have the note 4 and i quite like it. I've custom rommed it and everything went grat with a new non samsung battery because the original one like to die at 20 percent. but mine is the is the n910h and it use 3g cellular network instead of the lte, it stinks because it's already disabled in my country
This was a beast of a phone when it first came out. Everything was lightning fast for it's time, and that screen. Nothing compared or even came close to this when in that era.
i have had this phone since 2014- it got to the point that i couldn't make calls without restarting..,then when you were talking, calls would drop repeatedly. I loved this phone so much but sadly, i have to agree with you, you just can't do anything with them anymore without issues. My husband had the same phone for the same time as i did, and same issues were happening...he upgraded !! I got the note 10 plus on order now...
Why don't you recommend buying it? Many people who had other newer phones still love and use their Note 4. The screen is AMOLED which is awesome to this day. The battery is replaceable, which is super cool and unusual nowadays. Performance is more than acceptable for what almost anyone could ever do on a phone... it has actual multi-tasking capabilities, the stylus is really nice, and it's basically indestructible. If you can find it renewed or even NOS (New old stock, never opened) you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal on the market IMHO. Your really don't need "phone of the year" with a phone like this...!
@jas_bataille Agreed.💯 Other than outer esthetics it would still keep up with many of todays smartphones. I sometimes regret not hanging on to it. That screen...videos were great on it. 👍 Companies should be obligated to update possible security issues.
All he does is fearmonger about software updates and security patches.
I brought a brand new Sprint Note 4 late last year.
I don’t have the phone personally but could be a good work phone if your in any heavy duty environment. Plus the parts would possibly be cheep enough to replace and the pen would be extremely useful.
I remember getting this new from Sprint when it first came out. It was pretty good. Now I have a Note 20.
I've had S4,Note 4, S6 egde, S9, A51 and A52. Note 4 has the best camera hands down. I've got 4k footage from 2014 still looking good now. it was solid too but mine died from water damage (london carnival mad rain).
Yes Note 4 is outdated, but not for the reasons you mention. The reason why I cannot use my Note 4 is not display, cpu, battery, OS version or any of those things. Note 4 for Verizon for example can be flashed with custom OS. It's because it's radio is outdated and cannot use most of the carrier bands. That's the only reason. I still prefer Note 4 over any other samsung phones even their most recent incarnation of dreadful glass sandwich designs.
It has LTE why it doesnt work?
Note 4 is better than note 5 the note 5 was disappointed no battery removal or SD card at least it had a headphone jack
yep, I knew that as soon as it came out
@Fearless agree why would they take off the headphone jack every phone with headphone jack has Bluetooth they want to remove it so they can focus on the Bluetooth headphones so force people to buy it
@@DefKiller90 It kind of sucks but that's the direction we are going at. The three main players are Samsung, Apple and pixel. The problem is they are all doing it. It all come's down to money. I will miss the sd card slot, removeable battery and headphone jack.
To be honest, I see a lot people use wireless earphones. I told myself I will never do it because of the cost. On amazon wireless earbuds are quite cheap so took the punt. I absoutely love them ( downside is they just don't last that long, 3 years max I believe, in the long run it cost more). I still want a headphone jack because there were times, I forgot to charge the battery. I'm still using a note 8 but in future might need to buy a wired usb-c headphones, these will just be back up
@Fearless totally if they listen to their customers. Samsung will bring it back I was angry when they removed the battery and SD card now the headphone jack. Only time I use wireless headphones when I go to the gym when I'm home use my wired headphones sick of charging the wireless headphones
@DefKiller90 @Fearless
People should stop buying the new models for a while, you'll see how fast the next models bring those options back. 🙃 Only plus to removing 3.5 jack, SD cards and removable batteries is that they put more tech into the phones. Better CPU and more ram.
I just booted up my Note 4 for a dry-run. Have to say, coming from the newest Note (S23-Ultra) and a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, a dedicated audio jack sounds *so* *much* *better* . God damn I miss using this phone.
Looks like the Note 4 can use 4G LTE Bands 4 & 13 (which covers *most* major carriers), so, even with the death of 3G, this phone is _still_ serviceable.
Lol, I had the note 4 for almost 4 years till it died. I didnt take good care of it with no case. Switched to Note 9 in 2018 and now its 4.5 years old. I thought I was the rare few still using Note 9 in May 2023, to still use the Note 4 is crazy haha.
I use a Note 4 but it's starting to have troubles so that's why I'm here. I'm thinking I might have to get a Note 9 soon.
@@neilwilliams2907 haha, you are 1 cycle behind the crowd. Why not get the S23 Ultra? I am likely to get the S24 Ultra when it comes out.
@@axlcrush I hardly use my mobile phone and anything that modern would be a waste of money. I bought my Note 4 second hand for £165 and have used it for 6.5+ years so I've got my moneys worth out of it. After further research, the 10+ might also be in the running as apparently its software is a few generations newer, so it will help me keep it too for 6+ years.
Love my note 4. Pointy stick so useful for work and play. Use it with SDR radio, Excel spreadsheets, Autosketch etc. The camera is great, battery life is enough and you can still get replacements. IR is great using remote control software and fantastic in the pub when you need to change the channel.. :) I wish more smartphones would bring back IR blasters....
Screen was crazy of this phone ..and obviously some cool features multi window, One hand , knox and stylus stylus 2014. Bravo Samsung

For anyone who wants to get up and going with a quality phone for next to nothing, this is the best buy. I continue to use it as my main phone, because it simply ... works!
Maybe for a bit of nostalgia, I think I might want to buy one. I think I see them for $50 on eBay.
Still have my note 4 till this day I even custom romed it and you android 11 running on it
which custom rom did you get?
I am currently still using this Galaxy Note 4 as my main device. Since it is the last flagship that has a removable battery and allows drawing with the S Pen, there will be no need to switch to another model until it becomes completely unusable.
althoug a device from 2014, this model is still useful.
4K video and 1080p 60fps also can shoot. With this function, I film videos and sometimes upload them to the channel.
I miss this phone. I had 2 backup batteries and a charger for just the battery. I'd drain one. And pop one in. So easy.
Do you have a recommendation of battery replacement? I have one want to use it for just for the Stylus!
I bought one when they first came out but after while it died from me keeping it plugged in and Skyping with it. I really love the camera in this phone so I ended up buying one this past week brand new for $89.50.
You missed a feature MHL 3.0 with 3840 × 2160 30 Hz output. Making this phone a good thin client when using 5G wifi at ~860 Mbps
I'm impressed with this phone! It has really good specs even to this day! If it ran android 13, it would be still a decent phone. It still performs okay. It would be in par with a galaxy a13 or an a03s. I wouldn't 100% recommend it, but it would be a decent hand-me-down for a young child or for an older grandparent.
My favorite note phone, it was high tech in the day.
No love or even mention of the IR Blaster? Try finding that on any of the phones you recommended instead of this one...
I'll probably still will use this phone the phone as a still looks like a great phone p the killer device
Thinking about buying a couple of these for my small kids for educational games and running light school programs, as well ad the occasional streaming/videos for long car rides. Can anyone tell me if standard apps are still largely supported?
You would have to custom rom it or play store might not work
One of the best phones ever made by Samsung
Actually the answer is a big fat yes
I'm using the Note 4 because my phone died. I can say it's super annoying to use it in 2023. It is so slow and buggy, so many apps cannot be installed because it's so old, so many apps barely work because the phone can't keep up. I replaced the battery and it still dies after like 5 hours. The fingerprint scanner is annoying, the buttons so many times don't detect the presses. The photos are bad, video is bad. And did I say how slow it is? Like, the delay between pressing something and something happening can be like 5 seconds long! And it has this weird thing, where all numbers have a + added to it. So if you want to call someone back, it gives you an error because of the +. So yeah, DO NOT USE IT IN 2023! As a backup phone.. fine.
wow, imagine having to wait 5 seconds for something to happen. the horror.
Samsung started the “Big Phones”
Can you download social media on it??
had a note 4 that had issues turning on i threw it at a wall and it stuck like a throwing knife.

Dude you're messing up on specs again. There was also an Exynos model as well
yeah but the most common variant was the SM-N910F which im pretty sure has a snapdragon 805, correct me if im wrong
@@emdicadrian there were models such as the N910W or US carrier models or even Hong Kong N9100. On the used market like Ebay impossible to find a N910F and if you do it's sold at a very high price probably due to the fact that you can downgrade the firmware on that model. The note 9 is better
@princeerick11 Meh! True, but little improvements in 4 years. Mostly bells and whistles. 😁
I bought a Note 9 upon release. Its main advantages were built-in stereo speakers (which *was* an immediately noticable improvement), waterproofing, and USB-C (a stellar choice). The problem is, it gave up the removable battery (for waterproofing), and the curved screen was/is a gimmick. You can probably praise the camera as well, as Samsung strives to have _the_ _best_ in mobile phones, but, it's honestly not a huge driver for me (even as someone who fairly regularly dables in multimedia editing).
The following models proceeded to lose even _more_ features:
-Note 10: No 3.5mm jack
-Note 21: No MicroSD
Newer Notes are snappier (more RAM, better CPUs), but you just can't beat the Note 4's features.
If they released a newer Note 4 equivalent (flat screen, removable battery, expandable memory, audio-jack) with a modern CPU, more RAM, and USB-C, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. ❤
I would rather use a potato phone made in 2023, rather than an expensive phone made in 2014
