"There are a lot of people, spending a lot of money and energy, doing a lot of talking and not achieving very much." I do totally agree on that, but I think people do need to try to take climate change in mind. Like having their houses well insulated, reduce garbage from for example excess packaging, buy newer energy efficient devices, not go protesting against wind mills, things like that.
Why waste your time? The U.K. is so small on the global scale. China, India, Africa, South America and possibly the US aren’t taking this at all seriously. Only geopolitics is what might change things, but that’s unlikely to happen. China and India weren’t even at COP. Your efforts, while high minded are just inconvenient to your life and irrelevant to your goal.
@@jimthompson9370 I think my efforts aren't all that inconvenient or stressful or whatever. But it goes even crazier. In the Netherlands they want farmers to pollute less nitrogen. But their way of doing agriculture is already set for low fertilizer usage, it's all scientifically measured. Where they use over a 100 liters of water to produce I think it was 1 kg of tomatoes, in the US, in the Netherlands it's only 8 liters for the same amount of tomatoes. But of course that's not my doing. No, All I am saying is that people can try to be more mindful about their "ecological footprint", I'm not asking for anything crazy. Just waste not, want not.
@@therighthonsirdoug I did not suggest that but the clues in the name. They have been having these meetings for 27 years and I can remember having these discussions in the 70s. The head of the UN did say that we are currently heading towards a climate crisis whilst pushing on the accelerator. Action need to be accelerated not the numbers of oil exploration licences. There are alternatives
@@Robin-cf9ts the head of the UN can say what he likes. The UK has done more to reduce emissions than any other G20 member since 1990. China has pumped out more CO2 in the past 8 years than we have in 220.
@@Robin-cf9ts what alternatives are there to oil when it comes to the millions of plastic products we rely on today? Yes we can recycle and some things can be made from alternatives as they are now, but fundamentally we can't stop the use of oil for at least another 60-70 years.
The first five minutes are about dogs... there are channels for that which do not pretend to be global news. I love my critters but I appreciate professionalism as well.
I don’t think Jane and Fi have ever claimed to be presenting “global news.” They have a chat show and a podcast. Also Monty is known for his dogs. Possibly you have just found yourself in the wrong place.
the joy of dogs.
Delicious!
Indeed, gardening is good for mind and body.
Boris shouts climate change whilst awaiting a highly paid job as a climate ambassador.

Cop 27, a great distraction to allow a good few oil exploration licences to be granted based on cop 26.
What do you suggest, we stop using oil overnight?

And so knows that it is just a lorry load of bs.
