can't we just agree that the classics and the modern stuff has gems littered throughout the decades of animation. There's really no reason not to be able to enjoy anime made in recent years. There's awesome stuff in there too.
Part of me wants to cry foul that a merciless villain like Tao would let some one who tried to kill him live... but then again he is an ASSASSIN and nobody paid him to kill these two so it arguably makes him look all the more professional. Besides He's clearly so hyper aware that his life was never in any actual danger, and by letting these two live to tell the tale his own reputation grows.

A cool little piece of backstory to the character that many fans might not be aware of is that it was Tao who murdered Mr. Satan's master at a bar. It was the witnessing of his master's murder that made Mr. Satan into the cowardly figure he is portrayed in DBZ. All of that information is official, stated by Akira Toriyama in an interview.
