Here after DJ had his deck stolen by this card on game knights
I usually have to go around a dozen of EDH deck tech before I fall on something that actually teaches me something I could be doing better and you just did. Grats!
WHOOT! You just made my day. Thanks
This was a great deck tech, but trying to get the triplets to resolve and stay longer than your end step is a nightmare
How you recommend protecting them? I’m in the process of theory crafting a Triplets deck, turn 5 is pretty hard against other people with potent decks.
Lightning greaves, swiftfoot boots, mask of avacyn, mistveil cloak, mother of runes, any counterspell. Spellskite if your rich.
Isheian spellskite is like 8$
EazyMoney it’s dropped since the last I saw it. It was closer to $20, and that’s half a precon. Pretty pricy.
A friend is buying me a foil copy of the Triplets as a gift, and I am beyond excited to build/brew my new Esper control deck soon !!! Thank you DJ, you really got me sold on a home for my Scepter :) what a common!!! The Dramatic Reversal, I mean
I would LOVE an updated list especially with the banning of paradox engine
I played this commander once. One of the person on the table likes his Lorthos and Cephalid deck. Tapping his opponents spells. Well buddy, try your own medicine. Turn 8, I cast Iona, Shield of Emeria. He walk out leaving his fav deck on the table. Now that's a sour loser.
Blue sun Zenith someone to draw exactly equal to their deck and then Sen Triplets with paradox engine and Mycosynth lattice to play their combos to kill the other two players and then end your turn so the last guy decks.
That or make the person you control win the game for funsies.
Dude, Sen triplets are my jam! This video was great. Heavy-hitter design, with reaping obvious finishers.
I get a lot of value out of Sharum, but I admired the more spellcasting aspect of your build.
I have seen some artifact heavy builds. Such a versatile commander. Did you add Silas Renn from C16?
Praetor's Grasp does what?! I never even heard of that card, definitely gonna slot it into my deck somewhere.
Isn't it great. You can always find the opponent with a sol ring still in their deck so at worst it's bad ramp but the ceiling on this card is equal parts awesome and hilarious!
By the way, now that Hour of Devastation is right around the corner, another cruel thing you can do is Decree of Silence and Solemnity. Add Guile to the mix and it's ridiculous. I actually have Guile and Dovescape in my deck but I don't really like the fact that most of my spells will be useless after Dovescape drops, so I might replace it with that combo. I know it gives me infinite birds to wreck face with, but I feel like I might get bored.
Now with Tevesh szat and opposition agent in commander legends this deck is getting better and better
Absolutely fantastic.
Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal as well as Paradox Engine. Both are great to include. Darksteel Forge is an easy inclusion as should always have a bunch of Artifacts.
You need Sol Ring and Gilded Lotus for infinite untaps since they add the mana necessary to copy the imprinted Dramatic Reversal on Isochron Scepter.
Mycosynth Lattice, Darksteel Forge, Leonin Abunas.
Love how into it he gets when he describes the strats :)
My Sen Triplets deck uses Rule of Law for some shenanigans
I would add Paradox Haze both for targeting two opponents each turn and for the paradox tribal flavour 😂😂😂
LOL Loving paradox tribal. Actually paradoxical outcome could be strong too since we need card draw to refill our hand and returning mana rocks can sometimes generate a further mana advantage. We would also run Contradict, Enigma Sphinx, and Veiling Oddity to fill out our paradox deck. New archetype discovered.
4 years late, but add Copy Enchantment on the Paradox Haze. Now you play 4 hands each turn
Forced Fruition! Also Howling Mine! I like the “fill your opponents hand ideas” definitely going to try it in my brew. Aura of silence to keep their hands filled!
YEEEY i'm so happy you did a Sen Triplets deck tech i was waiting for this :D
Awesome deck tech! I'm more of a combo player, but my husband is a control player. He's not as much into MtG as I am, doesn't know about Sen Triplets, so I can't wait to see his face when I build this deck & play against him when it's done! LOL
It will be supremely satisfying to have him frustratingly flip your card around, read them again, and then give you that "come on" look. good luck!
Heyy, lovin this channel.
Can I request a Odric, Lunarch Marshal deck. I love all of the neat interactions it has with certain creatures.
It would be a great idea to deck tech some of the new but not covered legendaries eg: The cycle from Kaladesh or the ones from SOI/EMN.
Thanks for getting me into commander!!!
Hey, Odric is really interesting and can be that tricky combination of budget and powerful. Great Suggestion. And I'm SUPER happy that I can spark your interest in commander. Cheers
SO YOU'RE playing those cards from THEIR hands right?
Meaning if you cast their Cyclonic Rift or In Garruk's Wake it doesn't effect your stuff?
You got it. You are still the caster.
Awesome, I've been waiting for a "Sen Triplets" EDH build. I'll be using a lot of the cards in this video, most anxiously "paradox engine". Can't wait to use that, it's way to broken.
Thanks
Headgames is amazing. Nothing like stealing the perfect hand and win with your opponent's win con. And it's never fully dead. You can be political with it. At the very least it's hand destruction.
So this seems like it’s a budget build. You’re a genius deck designer; could you do a video or do you have recommendations for a non-budget build?
please publish deck list. tks!
Maybe play emrakul and worst fears just to have another to take control of a player's turn.
I have also seen builds play the mindslaver lock. Maybe I should have leaned a little heavier into artifacts and included some of these effect. Geeze these girls are versatile.
DJ I sans build this with updated stuff could you make a new video with updated stuff?
you forgot to mention that you're the top threat playing this. I got so much hate and blood feuds playing the twins I had to switch over
People really hate having their stuff stolen ... that's probably one reason I love it so much.
I'd personally run Jester's Mask and Head Games over Gonti, Lord of Luxury and Praetor's Grasp since it gives you more free reign of what spells you want to cast from your opponent instead of your own.
Pulsemage Advocate is really good with Paradox Engine/Intruder Alarm for fueling your opponent's hand for Sen Triplets with the bonus of getting almost every creature back onto the battlefield from your graveyard.
Also no Zur the Enchanter for getting out Celestial Dawn?
I think that Praetor's grasp is the best of the bunch and I think Jester's mask is by far the most awesome. I really like that Gonti and Grasp keep with the theme but don't require your general. I find that my triplets sometimes get killed ... a lot a times get killed. Overall great suggestions! Cheers
Sen Triplets should be a lot harder to kill with Leonin Abunas and/or Padeem, Consul of Innovation on the battlefield giving it hexproof especially If you have Darksteel Forge to make it indestructible as well which is one of the reasons why Arcum Dagsson is good for tutoring out all your artifacts.
Hey, could you maybe think about making an Olivia Voldaren Deck Tech video? She's mny favourite Commander and I want to build a deck around her, so I could use some advice.
I like her too. Is your deck a Rakdos control build or a vampire tribal?
It was a control deck, centred around stealing my opponent's stuff - but after rewatching this video, I've decided to use some of the parts to build Sen Triplets instead. :D I'd still like to build Olivia, though, but I'll probably make it a Vampire tribal deck.
I opened sen triplets in a mystery booster so now I'm building them. Rip paradox engine
Awesome video as always, changing subject i was thinking about building a liliana from origins edh what you think about her ?
Fausto Lucanelli you really need to build around her. I've had a deck with het for months and just recently switched general to drana and my power sky rocketed. liliana just isn't potent enough imo.
When I first saw her I thought of her as a reanimation enabler. Many people pick Sheoldred if they want to go for monoblack reanimation but I think that there is something to be said about Liliana. I would build something close to a monoblack Meren deck. Sacrifice for value, discard for value, bring cards back. A very midrange and grindy strategy. I never built her because I have a monoblack deck that I love and I have a Meren deck that has a similar (and I expect stronger) playstyle. What do you think?
Jumbo Commander I also went to way of reanimation and discard for value route but she was just to difficult and vulnerable to work with. Most of the time the discard tricks like waste not and stuff were dead cards because keeping a powerful cheap planeswalker alive is very difficult. I did it with tons of board wipes but games just became pretty boring. Flip lili with self sacrifice creatures with grave pact and such and keep sweeping the board until you ult. Sheoldred has more value and meren has an extra color, both work from the get go without the flip and are less vulnerable imo.
What about Daxos of Meletis for this deck? Lets you deal damage + steal more cards
SpideyBat637 the issue with that is you gotta jump thru hoops and it needs other cards to protect him which takes away from the main plan but he is an insane commander
You could do something like this. I like creatures that give you something when they connect. Nightveil Specter, Ninjitsu Mechanic, Prowl Mechanic, Edric, Spymaster of Trest, Coastal Piracy, Bident of Thassa, the Swords of ... I made a Sulti deck around this mechanic and it was ... underwhelming. It needed more tuning but such a creature strategy just didn't match up well against my meta so I scrapped the deck. I really like Daxos though; I can feel the fun to be had.
you should totally build silas renn and thrasios bug artifact edh
i'm curious to see what you do with it
That is a great combination. I have not had much fun with my BUG deck maybe I'll make one for myself.
if you do build it remember to send me a list :P as i said, curious what you do with it
Great card ideas for my X unstable commander!
So glad people are playing Un-mander out there!
Oof I love this deck and how it works but it’s so costly 😭😭 I wish you can make it cheaper
Hey Jumbo, how about Prime Speaker Zegana as a Simic good stuff/synergy deck tech? I'd really like to see your take on this.
Does anybody else have some advice on building Zegana?
Have a good one guys. :)
Janosch Dimter Zegana is just brainless UG
Janosch Dimter Then you could play experiment kraj
I'm making a series of videos that has Prime Speaker Zegana at the center of it. I have a lot to say about her. I agree that she can be an "easy" to build general. I think that fact is great for some players. Being "easy" gives someone the freedom to have restrictions like budget or include strange cards or make flavor choices.
Jumbo Commander any other names of good stuff commanders ?
I think you can make a lot of commanders "good stuff" focused. I feel that any general that just gives card advantage or mana advantage without a specific strategy can be "good stuff". I have seen the dragonlords (Ojutai, Silumgar, etc.), the gods (Karametra, Erebos, etc) but honestly any commander fill that role. I think people that build a lot of decks get bored using the same old good cards but if you have not played Rite of Replication or Genesis Wave then you need some of that good stuff!
And this is way paradox Engine is going in my selvala, sissay, seton, and maybe the baral wizard tribal/blue devotion I wanna build lol sooo many ways to counter spells.
Paradox Engine is strong. Reduce the cost of all your spells by your non-land mana production?!?!?!? BROKEN. Think it will be banned?
Jumbo Commander well we can't really say if it will or won't cause the rules guys are very inconsistent with they're bans cause for example that palacron things they still allow but I would say this is pretty likely since all colors can abuse it but I'm hoping not
LoL, that intro music is my Ringtone, so I had to stop the Video twice till I realised that it's not my phone ^^
Used to play these ladies.. Then it got to a point where I couldn't even finish shuffling before somebody scooped...
Yay Gonti in the house! :D
I've been throwing him in everything. He might not be the best creature but he is undeniably fun to play.
I play paradox engine and the scepter in my Narset deck and it gets out of hand lol
Narset alone gets out of hand and now this?
Awesome deck tech, as usual, but one thing to make note of (idk if I just missed it in the video) is that you can NOT produce colored mana outside of your commander's color identity, even with the rocks. So if an opponent is playing red, you'll never be able to cast any of his red spells.
They changed those rules when colorless mana was introduced. The old rule said that if you tried to produce mana outside of your commander's color identity it became colorless. This caused trouble so now you can make any color of mana in your commander deck. It has a few corner case advantages, like sen triplets, but it has not had a huge impact.
Here is the post that changed the rule: mtgcommander.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18057
Dude, TY for pointing this rule out to me. It's come up in my playgroup pretty consistently (since I run Sen Triplets) and I always had to target someone who shared colors with Sen in order to gain max value from the effect. I'm about to have a BLAST at FNM tonight.
Did you consider Telepathy?
I reeally want a meren deck tech XD
It will come. It is a little tricky because she is SO GOOD WITH ALL THE CARDS. But I love my own deck so I won't be able to resist sharing it.
what do you do against homeward path?
Lose is spectacular fashion?!? You can gain a lot of advantage from all the other spells that are not creatures if you expect homeward path. Then you can lean heavily on your combo finish.
i absolutely love the sen triplets, but my playgroup has homeward path in pretty much every deck. Being able to only cast noncreature spells, makes them significantly weaker.
Simply run wasteland/ghost quarter/tectonic edge along with a expedition map and atrinket mage to tutor it for the map. You can also tutor your sol ring or relic of progenitus if you wish
Can sen triplets be a competitive deck?
Yes ... but mostly because Esper is a great color combo. You'd probably be better off with Oloro.
them bad feels after viewing this after paradox engine got banned XD
people always give the impression that the triplets are kinda op.They are suuuuper clunky and slow (wait till ur upkeep till they do something? in multiplayer? lol, good luck kid^^). and the deck u suggest here around the stealing strategy seems fun but is also insanely slow as well. Depends on your playgroup. Mine isnt super cutthroat and no one roles their eyes when i flip the triplets, cause they just dont do anything unfair really. u always just get the cards u actually payed the mana for and most of the time u pay 5 mana for ur commander to dont get anything out of it.
fun commander, far from annoying or competetive though. which is the point of commander. no reason why they have such a bad reputation though.
This deck is very slow and no matter what I do get a lot of hate when I play them, I think cause people HATE getting their stuff stolen. The version I have is a little more gimmicky than a real control deck so the hate you get might outweigh the power of this build OR your playgroup might just swallow up a slow and annoying strategy like this. It sounds like you made your version work for you so that's awesome.
To bad its band now (paradox engine)
also, the excesive use of mana rocks is actually a horrible idea, if ur playgroup is kind of ... well... not braindamaged. ^^ (artifact) mass removal is pretty much everywhere. and losing half ur mana because of that will hurt A LOT! this is a veeeeeery slow control deck. no need to go overboard with some silly artifact mana. =)
I think ramp is very important in commander. Green does a great job of getting lands on the battlefield but in this color combination I think we have to rely on artifacts. They are susceptible to destruction but I can just hope that by the time they are wiped out I have made enough land drops to have a stable mana supply. If your playgroup has a lot of incidental artifact hate then I would suggest Darksteel Ingot (obviously) but also commander sphere and mind stone so they can be cashed in and you do not lose much tempo... but these two rocks don't help you cast other colored spells as easily so there will have to be some balance.
Excessive use of mana rocks shouldn't be a problem If you have Darksteel Forge out making them indestructible or even Leonin Abunas and Padeem, Consul of Innovation giving them hexproof.
hexproof isnt worth anything against the cards I mentioned (and are widely played) though.. Of course if u can cheat out the Forge early thats great. Still there is not really a good reaon to play more than around 8 Mana Rocks anyway. The Scepter Combo is laughable as the only reason tbh. ^^
Celestial Dawn solves everything this deck needs much more effectively than Mycosynth Lattice and Mana Rocks
where is telepathy??? 😊 and thanks for som great videos. All the way from Denmark.
Telepathy is very cool. I'll add it to the tapped out list. Telepathy might have the added benefit of distracting your opponents from how powerful you are. How is Denmark this time of year? Been to Copenhagen a few times (Gorgeous) but never in January.
Jumbo Commander right now its pretty Cold. But wee had very little snow. But there is stil something about going down the walking street in copenhagen, and stopping by for some hot Coco with a blanket on the Street. Then go to you local game store and Play some Magic 😊. PS just build the sen Triplets my self, but went the artifact way.
That sounds magical. I have to drive everywhere; I miss being able to walk places. BTW I'm trying to figure this out Silas Renn from C16, do you have him in your Esper Artifacts? Is he any good?
its nice that you can walk to the places you need 😉 so i get that you miss IT. well about the card, i dont like that i have to do Damage to a player before i get the abelity. i would rater use sphinx summoner, og the unconmen land that i can sac to get artifact back from the grave yard...
Yeah, I'm on the same page. Friends talk about how powerful he can be but I can't find the right place for him.
Thief of sanity
I know this video is old, but as a point of criticism: you never once mention that Triplets lets you steal land. You act like the mana filtering is the only way to play off-color stuff, but that's just not true. It's also one of the strengths of triplets that you can try to keep them off a color if they are 3+.
kk
Plays propaganda, ghostly prison, crawlspace, back to basics, frozen aether, opposition agent
