This has to be one of my favorite deck tech's that you have done. I've been thinking about making a Breya EDH deck and this just put me over the top. You've given me a great start to the deck. Can't wait to finish it and test it out. Thanks, DJ!!!!
My first edh deck was daretti and almost top 8’ed a modern GP with affinity. Suffice it to say that I love artifacts! This deck tech is awesome. I also love your channel, your enthusiasm and contribution to the format is amazing so thank you! Keep up the good work!
Alright, this is where you all turn on me ... many have mentioned Saheeli Rai and I want to explain why I don't think she is very good in this deck or in most commander strategies. Planeswalkers have a higher barrier to entry in multiplayer formats because they are vulnerable over multiple opponents' turns. This is not to say that planeswalkers are bad but they can see a reduction in power level. Planeswalkers can have a weaker +1 and still be powerful so I will not be overly critical of Saheeli's. Her +1 ( Scry 1. Saheeli Rai deals 1 damage to each opponent.) is card selection and incidental damage ... sounds OK. I probably wouldn't pay 1RU for a sorcery spell that said scry 3 and 3 damage to a player. It's like a harder to cast and less flexible big magma jet, gross. But I should not spend time criticizing the +1 because no one is claiming that it is powerful. The minus ability is usually the instant payoff for a planeswalker. They can draw you cards, create a creature, kill something, basically give you a tangible advantage. Saheeli's -2 (Create a token that's a copy of target artifact or creature you control, except it's an artifact in addition to its other types. That token gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.) Making another creature with an ETB effect is awesome. I have dreams of making a Myr Battlesphere or a Combustible Gearhulk. It sucks that the creature has to exile itself at the end of turn and I hate that I can't copy an opponent's creature. Why should I settle for these limitations when the classic clones in commander stick around and can copy any threat on the table. Phyrexian Metamorph, Clever Impersonator, Stunt Double, Dack's Duplicate, Phantasmal Image, Rite of Replication, Stolen Identity (a favorite), Altered Ego, and even Saheeli's Artistry. All of these cards have a little different niche that give our clone effects some flavor. I see these cards at commander tables. Do you see commander players clamoring to play twinflame and heat shimmer? I like the -2 but I'm not willing to pay 1RU for it. I don't feel like I can reliably activate the -2 more than once if I have anything good on the battlefield to copy. She is very vulnerable and inflexible. That is a bad combination in commander. Saheeli can be powerful if you abuse her. Her ultimate is game winning. That should not be overlooked. You can also combo off with her. You can liquimetal coating her into an artifact, copy herself, legend rule the original, then make infinite copies of the now artifact-ed walker, winning with a disciple of the vault. That sounds AWESOME. I would do that. But this interaction is so narrow and corner case. Please test her and tell me how she performs. Just remember that when you test a card be really critical of how it performs in all situations. Get out those pitchforks ... tell me what you think!
Jumbo Commander Point well made. I think you can jam her in if you have open slots in the deck or if you really really want to cram as many win combos as you can.
Good point. I'm cutting her from my deck now. She's good, but I hardly use her in the first place. I wish you could flip her first two abilities and the symbols in front of them. +2 to create a token is way better but I guess we won't be seeing that for artifacts for a long time, if ever.
Jumbo Commander - @11:25 you go on and on about a bunch of hopps to jump through for a janky combo, then write what you did above? If we are going balls to the wall combo, then we should have seen Bomberman combo by now or something better than what you are showing at 11:25.
Omg someone who knows about bitter ordeal;u; your are truly the first person I know who knows about that card.lol I play it in my mill deck I'll usually mill for 15 then rip lands out of someone's library, it can mana screw them but more importantly all those cards that mill till they hit a land, far Better when there are only a few lands left lol Btw sir this deck seems fun and strong I will probably be trying it out lol

So mill doesnt work with bitter ordeal, unfortunately. Permanents must be not card type but actual permanents on the battlefield which enter into the graveyard. This is how gravestorm works.
I think this is quietly the strongest commander to come out of this product and she will be underrated for a while. Breya is the new Tasigur, imo. I love this commander. Although I am stuck with the struggle of affording many of the key cards to build a full combo deck. I currently run a interesting breya that uses combos to end people. But to give me time I have nasty amounts of thopters to trigger things like sharding sphinx. I am able to do what I always wanted to do, go wider than anyone with artifacts that fly. So much fun.
I have been impressed at how relevant Breya is with blockers and -4/-4. It's a nice bit of control to stall until you get the combo off. I don't run ALL the possible combos in my personal version and I think I prefer it. Good luck tinkering!
I really like this build. It boils the essentials down to a few combos and gives really decent support to those combos. A couple of cards are outside my budget but its ok I'm a big boy i can fill in the blanks. Thanks much.
This is a good balance to DRAGONS!!!! I love turning dragons sideways but sometimes you want to mix it up. i have a thopters build I'm working on. It would be funny if your decks were massive flying dragons and little flying thopters LOL.
4:07 that artwork is gorgeous, may I ask where you got it from? Would love the artwork to be on a play mat or as an alternative artwork on the card itself
"Johnny" EDH players know Breya is good. I had artifact shenanigans in my Ashling the Pilgrim deck. Being mono red, it doesn't get there consistently. Having access to blue is a huge advantage. Not to mention black and white.
This is a sweet deck! Glad to see this video. However, I am very surprised not to see sharding sphinx. It creates exponential thopters that can be sacked or just win the game plus it has a hilarious name. Usually your opponents need a board "wipe" to deal with it! But This deck will definitely help me figure out what I should put in my deck. I think I am going to go a little less combo heavy because I already have a Arjun combo deck that is fun to play.
no mycosynth lattice in this deck is blasphemy. you could steal any permanent with dack fayden. play hellkite tyrant, hit someone with it and steal that player's board and most likely win next turn. overloaded vandalblast? apocalypse everyone but you.
Sounds fun! Hellkite Tyrant is an amazing way to win a game love the idea! But I feel that would only work if you play 1v1 and have absurd amounts of mana (although I admit this deck has no issues producing colorless mana). With this deck you'll most likely hit a combo sooner since not only do they cost less and you can tutor for all pieces required, but Hellkite Tyrant is NOT tutor-able even with lattice out, and is a waste of a card slot when drawn early game as well (not to mention easily countered or kill carded, also does NOT have haste! you'll turn a lot of heads when you have a win con sitting for a whole turn )
Dear god... I am so not a combo player. It was fun hearing you get stoked for Breya though. I think I'll stick with my grindy, midrangey Atraxa deck. Hahah
Wild Guess and Tormenting Voice seem like they should be in there with Reunion. I actually prefer them over Looting. Additionally have you considering Feldon of the Third Path, or additionally any sort of blinking strategies that can abuse Breya for token generation.
I love this commander! shes my favorite out the new set. I cant wait to build around her. edit:I think a thopter spy network would work great! creates thopters, draws cards, it would help getting to combo pieces a bit faster.
Another Combo If I'm correct is Infinite Mana with sharuum and Ashnods Altar, Because You can sac Sharuum with her Trigger On the Stack and then bring her back with her Own trigger, if im correct.
you only need to do 21 damage with breya's lighning bolt ability since its commander damage. thats only 7 activations which is pretty easy in your build. btw super good way to get around pillow fort decks.
Pillowfort strategies are very popular in my meta so I think Breya may be a good answer. Unfortunately, commander damage is only calculated as combat damage but I still think the bolt ability is relevant damage.
Hey friend. Just picked up 2XM, working on building my own Breya deck. Is there any chance you'd consider a vid updating this deck considering how many new cards have been released since you made this vid? Or would you just keep it the way it is? Regardless, thanks for this amazing vid! I'm definitely going to follow your template (but... I'm gonna modify it so that it doesn't cost FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS 🤣🤣)
Steve Leong Here is the initial list, though I've made some changes. Added Shimmer Myr, Time Sieve, and Thoptor Assembly. Removed Myr Battlesphere, Tezzy the Seeker, Scarecrone. Made a few other small changes.
Jumbo Commander :: This is a very interesting deck and I am loving it BIG time... Breya is my girl as well... There are so many that can be done with these 4 colors White - Destroy spells; Exile spells Blue - Counter spells; Copy spells; Duplicate spells; Draw spells Black - Reanimator spells; Destroy spells; Forcing opponent to sacrifice creature spells Red - Gives haste; Gives double strike Below are the combos available in this theme (I prefer combo than head-on aggro) - Token / Thopter / Servo generating combo - Eldrazi Displacer combo - Whirler Rogue combo - Thopter Spy Network - Hangarback Walker - Pia and Kiran - Avacyn - All gearhulk (except for green) - Turn all permanents on battlefield to Artifact and take control of them all combo - Turn all permanents on battlefield to Artifact and destroy all Artifact combo - Pick an opponent and turn one color of his / her basic land type to Artifact and destroy all from hand + battlefield + library combo (if that person is playing mono color, then that person can concede from the game) - Drain life & gain life 2-piece combo - Artifact recursion combo - Some Artifact base combo Kaladesh provides us with vehicles and energy counter producers that can be used to boost this deck too. Planeswalkers that might be a valuable add-on to enhance this deck further - Nahiri, the Harbinger - Saheeli Rai - Daretti, Scrap Savant - Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast - Karn I can see tons of strategy in this deck and having Silas Renn is good too. I have the concept / idea (but due to the fact that i'm lack of knowledge of all the old cards, it kinda takes a different path) but will you be revisiting this Breya deck tech again after all the cards have been spoiled? The reason is because I believe most of us will just purchase the reconstructed deck and upgrade from there. On a separate note, I am totally intrigued with the idea of having 2 generals in my EDH deck (plus 98 cards). If you do not mind, maybe you can try to come up with a 2 generals type of deck tech... Personally, I'm interested with Silas Renn because he can bring back artifacts from graveyard and the idea of having a lot of token to swarm the board - maybe Tana, the Bloodsower. The deck should have 2 strategies that can be executed individually (if one of the strategies have been shut down - example: Grafdigger Cage or Rest in Peace will shutdown Silas Renn so Tana can continue to create tokens to attack) and also these 2 strategies must compliment each as well.
It basically comes down to when something triggers and when the trigger is put on the stack can be different times. Targets are declared when the effect it put on the stack. Combined with the above and you'll see that we cast the clone, it resolves and it's ability triggers. Normally you (the active player) would gain priority and the trigger would be put on the stack (requiring a target) but State Based Actions are checked right before any player gets priority and makes you put one of the Sharuums into the graveyard. After that's taken care of SBAs check for any other state based action shenanigans that might have arisen from the previous corrective action. When that's all done, you get priority, which is when the trigger goes on the stack, and now that Sharuum is in the graveyard she's a legal target. She's a tricky girl! She does love a good selfie. :)
I'm not sure if the sculpting steel/Sharuum combo works because the ETB effect needs to choose a target as it goes onto the stack, before you sacrifice one or the other to the legendary rule.
Unfortunately it's not highly accessible in commander because only Lion's Eye Diamond works with it and that's a super expensive card for most commander players. If you're like me and have it already, I suggest you give it a try, as it also plays into the eggs strategy (second sunrise, faith's reward) really well.
Ive been running a Sharuum combo deck for a while now and I wanted to splash red for a while now. That being said Im not sure if i want to run breya. She's ok as a commander but idk if adding another color is worth losing the consistency that sharuum brings as a commander. Anyways why aren't you running metalworker and goblinwelder. They both are incredibly powerful and not as well know as powerful win cons.
So I just recently pulled off this interesting combo for my Saturday magic day that I wanted to get opinions on, now this isn’t a game winning combo but it is game changing. This combo is prototype portal + sculpting steel. I ended up making 8 signets, 2 darksteel forge, and 3 unwinding clock before my opponents decided this needs to stop. I would have copied creatures but I only had legendary creatures on the field at the time. But what is everyone’s opinion? Because I never thought of it until I had both in my opening hand. What’s your opinion? And I’d love to hear your opinion jumbo commander.
does the Breya commander deck in stores have most of these cards and can I build this using the already put together Breya deck to save time. Awesome video love these colors.
Most of these cards are not in the precon. But I made a budget upgrade video here: ruclips.net/video/27Ad9_JJa9k/видео.html&lc=z120hxzjyxfgv3uak04cdrnxhpftgz0rcjc It is not the same deck but eventually you can add combo pieces and synergies. Good luck building!
thank you soo much. I love your take on Breya. Especially the use of the graveborn synergy. :D Do you have a recommended manabase that youve been able to establish?
Good question. Right now I answer the complicated mana base by throwing money at it -- ABUR Duals, Fetches, and Shocks make up half the mana base. I firmly believe that there are great budget ways of playing 4-colors (I know because I have budget 5-color mana bases). I'm excited to play with the preconstructed decks as is and get a real feel for how wizards built their mana.
Jumbo Commander awesome. Ill get to work testing the mana. I cant wait for the precons either. My friends and I always play the 5 against each other on release day. Im so excited for Breya and Yidris. Hope to see a Yidris video soon. I feel like making it creature related but the thought of a cascading, spell flinging, ogre wizard sounds soo fun!
Thanks! On Ancient Excavation, I love that the "windfall" is better than a traditional windfall because of the insane card selection but I hate that it is card disadvantage. The flexibility of land cycle is good but am I really happy playing this card in any "mode"? Honestly I think it would be good if it was just a little pushed in any direction but as it stands I can't find a deck I want to play it in ... and I own a lot of decks. It's a neat effect. Someone please convince me to play this card!
Hey Jumbo Commander! This is a bit of a corner case, but I’ve been playing a lot of my Breya combo deck recently, and in two specific instances, I’ve chained Ancient Excavation into Scrap Mastery, discarding all my artifacts and getting all of my combo pieces back onto the battlefield in a single turn! Granted, on its own, Ancient Excavation is card disadvantage, but my deck has a recursion sub theme, so loot-type effects are actually card advantage since the cards in my graveyard are just another resource I can get for free with cards like Daretti, Sharuum, Goblin Welder, and of course, Scrap Mastery.
xakuyer wedge on themanasourse has a good vid on Nekusar its not tier one but it is hilariously fun to play if you enjoy being the target that everyone hits a nice little interaction he doesn't add to his deck is a way to give nekusar infect every time an opponent draws the get a poison counter per card drawn
Can you use Breya s abilities the turn she comes into play? I mean if I have infinite mana (Pili Pala + Grand Architect) can I use her own ability to sac her and a thopter to create infinite thopters to later sac to do infinite damage?
liked and subbed. you have a good funny story telling voice and was very easy to follow. thanks for the great video and for the ideas! i just need $$$ first -.- lol.
My experience is none so take my advice with a grain of salt. I think he fun but underwhelming. I am interested in all of his abilities and some even synergize with this deck. His +1 effect is too minor and his -1 is too generic. I'm not looking to make room for him. I know it's not a direct comparison but if I wanted the removal I would much rather run a Kolagon's Command or an anguished unmaking. I should find a slot somewhere because if he isn't in my deck then I will never be able to ultimate him and that looks awesome :)
I used this one that Wizards shifted to the right for some of my video. magic.wizards.com/sites/mtg/files/images/featured/C16_EventsBlock_Breya-Etherium-Shaper_Production_Inline_RIGHT.jpg
Hey Jumbo Commander. Great vid! I'm wondering, what are some good options if I have all these cards but do not have tundra, volcanic island, etc. those can get pretty expensive and any recommended subs would be highly appreciated
Yeah, I have been fixing mana issues by throwing money at it with those overpriced duals. It was lazy of me, sorry. I would argue that on-color fetchlands are critical. I also like the Panoramas a lot. One of my favorite duals in commander are the Scry lands. A tapped dual can be annoying, but in many situations this land can be very close to "draw a card". I hope these substitutes help. Glad you liked the video.
CheeZbredDawG no commander damage is only done by combat damage not activated ability damage however phyresis on Breya would give poison counters for the three damage
esper has a lot to bring back artifacts grixis can go hard into sac effects thats y i see value in her abilities dictate of erabos doesnt care if the creature is an artifact too
I have. I think for these decks it may be problematic because the prices can be all over the place for these new cards. I do include the tappedout decklist so you can see a lot of current and real-time pricing. I will also be creating budget builds using the precons soon after release.
Your Sharuum loop doesn't work. You have to choose a target with the copy of Sharuum before the state based action puts the original Sharuum into your graveyard.
It's a tricky interaction and I'm glad you pointed it out for more explanation. I stole this from a previous post and slightly edited this answer from Vulpine (
It depends on what decks everyone is playing. If things are unbalanced then the gameplay sucks but I try and ask people what power level of deck they are piloting and we all pick decks accordingly.
Hi I really enjoyed your video, and I really like the direction you took this deck. Sorry if this is a tedious question to answer, but I am new and really liked the changes you made to the precon deck, my question is how can I accomplish the same plan as this deck while remaining on a budget. I am willing to spend up to 100 dollars. Thank you for taking the time to help me.
Good question. I'm working on "upgrade" videos where I'm going to try and make an awesome deck for $100 total. So $65 in upgrades. My timeline for those is in the next few weeks. I would begin by adding Ashnod's Altar and Krark-Clan Ironworks because they are just great (but also combo pieces). Start playing with most of the deck intact or making upgrades that you already own. Marionette Master & Padeem, Consul of Innovation are almost draft chaff and would be a great inclusion as well. Eldrazi Displacer is $5 but works really well with so many decks I think that might be a critical pickup. Trinket mage and treasure mage are really cheap and they have really great targets in this deck. Hopefully that gives you a good start. I'll make a more comprehensive strategy in a future video. Thanks for the question!
Hi, thank you for the reply @JumboCommander. That sounds awesome, I am excited to see thoroughly explained videos on budget upgrades for the commander 2016 decks. Your content is extremely helpful and I am sure you will have great things to say about budget upgrades for the rest of the decks. Okay sounds perfect, these cards will definitely steer me in the right direction. I am okay with spending $10 on a card if it is crucial for the deck to function and keep it's identity, and I think Eldrazi Displacer will be worth the $5. How about Dack Fayden, I really want to pick him up, but his price seems a bit steep. Would replacing him with a generic draw 2/3 cards and discard 2/3 cards provide similar results?
On Dack, right now I have him sitting at $17 and in my mind that isn't worth the effect he provides. Don't get me wrong ... stealing artifacts is awesome and hilarious but I believe your money would be better spent elsewhere. The card draw in the deck may be fine. You can even try the new Ancient Excavation and see how that works.
I instantly slotted my metallurgic summonings into my Mizzix of the Izmagnus deck. I think this could make a great 4 color spells commander but there are other commanders out there that might synergize better.
I think that the key to any spells deck is momentum. So a general with card draw or mana cheating synergies would be ideal. Mizzix, Jori En, Nekusar, Maelstrom Wanderer, Rashmi, but I did not want to discourage you from Breya. If you like her color identity then go for it; I'm sure you can brew a really great spells deck.
Of the 10 cards in magic that have mox in the name 7 are banned in commander (the 5 original single color moxen, jack-in-the-mox from unglued, and mox lotus from unhinged). Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox and Mox Opal are all legal in commander and can be very powerful.
I dislike playing Blightsteel Colossus because it is, honestly, a no-fun-zone card. Blightsteel is a card that comes out and suddenly nobody is enjoying playing with your deck anymore, and to me, Commander is all about having fun, and if the table isn't enjoying themselves then it's a wasted effort. So I run the original Darksteel Colossus instead. It's still a great beatstick but it doesn't immediately pin you as "that-asshole-with-the-artifact-deck", and overall is just a much less toxic card in general. Of course this varies by play group, but I feel like that's the majority of groups I've been in and observed.
Great observation and suggestion for replacement. I like your "playgroup dependant" phrase too. Thanks for the great comment! Plus Darksteel Colossus almost looks like a cute giant monster; I'd be friends with that golem.
I had a nephilim deck that Breya replaced. I was very happy when she was spoiled. My playgroup is very laid back and doesn't really like some of the faster combos. But! I really like the synergies and flexibility that you have here, and I'll be incorporating some of these into my deck, thanks for the video and keep up the work! Also, I'd just built a Hanna deck about a week before you'd posted your video on her =P. Mine is much more stax focused though. Anyway, thanks and I really look forward to more from you. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/tilling-up-treasures/
Great List! I'm glad you liked Hana (ruclips.net/video/N7WhK-3anzc/видео.html) and she is reprinted with her promo art in this new set. Thanks for the kind words!
Yes, I believe she is better. I mentioned the joy of "Scrap Mastery" to another person in the comments. One advantage of this general could be that if Sharuum is your commander then you always win with her. This deck has a lot of different ways to win making it really fun to play. I will leave you with the immortal words of Daretti himself: "Where a lesser mind sees junk, I see infinite potential." I love Daretti :)
This has to be one of my favorite deck tech's that you have done. I've been thinking about making a Breya EDH deck and this just put me over the top. You've given me a great start to the deck. Can't wait to finish it and test it out. Thanks, DJ!!!!

My favorite commander from this release by far. Thanks for all the tech

Andrew Fisher ohhhhhhh well I play that fairy mill commander so it still works very well but meren loves it lol

Btw really impressed by the quality of your videos. U deserve more subscribers for sure.
Thanks! I hope that I make videos people like but I'm really pleased with all of the great support I already have. Cheers!
I love the complex synergies!!!!!!! I'm totally going to try to build something like this now :)
Hey Jumbo so I love my Karrthus but I am going to build this one as well. Love all of your deck lists. Can't wait to play with this one.

Hey, I dont think I heard Saheeli Rai in the deck and I was curious as to what you thought about her
love your channel and videos, bruh
Love it! Never thought of using artifacts in this way. Nice job!
4:07 that artwork is gorgeous, may I ask where you got it from? Would love the artwork to be on a play mat or as an alternative artwork on the card itself
If you mean the background, that’s Master Transmuter.
Still playing the hell out of her she’s so fun!
How many lands, artifacts, enchantments, creatures, Planeswalker, instant, and sorcery's are in this deck? I couldn't find out in this video.
your videos are great dude! wish i had found you way sooner!
Also Ugin's nexus is pretty much an instant speed time walk for 2 mana plus you sacrifice an artifact with your commander out.
Just found your channel, great content man!!! i look forward to watching your vids in the future :)
no mycosynth lattice in this deck is blasphemy. you could steal any permanent with dack fayden. play hellkite tyrant, hit someone with it and steal that player's board and most likely win next turn. overloaded vandalblast? apocalypse everyone but you.
Hahah
I'm going the eggs route and going through my deck completely by like turn 6-7 but some of the cards on this list will help thinks for the ideas.
Deck looks really fun!
Any chance we can get an updated version of this deck for 2023?
Wild Guess and Tormenting Voice seem like they should be in there with Reunion. I actually prefer them over Looting.
Additionally have you considering Feldon of the Third Path, or additionally any sort of blinking strategies that can abuse Breya for token generation.
I love this commander! shes my favorite out the new set. I cant wait to build around her. edit:I think a thopter spy network would work great! creates thopters, draws cards, it would help getting to combo pieces a bit faster.
I use ramos as my commander for green. Parralel lives, anointed procession, and doubling season are game breaking with this type of deck
Consider adding a Magus of the Unseen - good budget option for additional sac targets
Another Combo If I'm correct is Infinite Mana with sharuum and Ashnods Altar, Because You can sac Sharuum with her Trigger On the Stack and then bring her back with her Own trigger, if im correct.
you gave a hint towards the land base for this deck and it leaves me to wonder what other lands would you recommend for the deck?
you only need to do 21 damage with breya's lighning bolt ability since its commander damage. thats only 7 activations which is pretty easy in your build. btw super good way to get around pillow fort decks.
Pillowfort strategies are very popular in my meta so I think Breya may be a good answer. Unfortunately, commander damage is only calculated as combat damage but I still think the bolt ability is relevant damage.
o my bad lol
Started thinking about Partner combos to build yet? I'm doing a Vial Smasher/Silas Renn artifact deck.
Jay Schnurr :: Nice... Care to share with me? I'm thinking of Silas Renn + Tana
Steve Leong
Here is the initial list, though I've made some changes. Added Shimmer Myr, Time Sieve, and Thoptor Assembly. Removed Myr Battlesphere, Tezzy the Seeker, Scarecrone. Made a few other small changes.
Jay Schnurr :: Thanks but I was just wondering if you have a decklist created in tappedout or something
Oops...forgot to past the link! Sorry.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/edhcommander-silas-renn-vial-smasher/
Jumbo Commander :: This is a very interesting deck and I am loving it BIG time...
Breya is my girl as well...
There are so many that can be done with these 4 colors
White
- Destroy spells; Exile spells
Blue
- Counter spells; Copy spells; Duplicate spells; Draw spells
Black
- Reanimator spells; Destroy spells; Forcing opponent to sacrifice creature spells
Red
- Gives haste; Gives double strike
Below are the combos available in this theme (I prefer combo than head-on aggro)
- Token / Thopter / Servo generating combo
- Eldrazi Displacer combo
- Whirler Rogue combo
- Thopter Spy Network
- Hangarback Walker
- Pia and Kiran
- Avacyn
- All gearhulk (except for green)
- Turn all permanents on battlefield to Artifact and take control of them all combo
- Turn all permanents on battlefield to Artifact and destroy all Artifact combo
- Pick an opponent and turn one color of his / her basic land type to Artifact and destroy all from hand + battlefield + library combo (if that person is playing mono color, then that person can concede from the game)
- Drain life & gain life 2-piece combo
- Artifact recursion combo
- Some Artifact base combo
Kaladesh provides us with vehicles and energy counter producers that can be used to boost this deck too.
Planeswalkers that might be a valuable add-on to enhance this deck further
- Nahiri, the Harbinger
- Saheeli Rai
- Daretti, Scrap Savant
- Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast
- Karn
I can see tons of strategy in this deck and having Silas Renn is good too.
Don't you have to declare targets when sharuum's ability goes on the stack before you sacrifice the other one?
It's a tricky interaction and I'm glad you pointed it out for more explanation. I stole and slightly edited this answer from Vulpine (
It basically comes down to when something triggers and when the trigger is put on the stack can be different times.
Ben Smith it does. her ability hits the stack. The board state is checked and one must be sacked. Then the ability resolves and targets sharuum
She's also really good to use as the bomb in the Bomberman combo: Auriok Salvagers + Lion's Eye Diamond.
Good call. I have never played bomberman before so I think I need that experience in my life.
Unfortunately it's not highly accessible in commander because only Lion's Eye Diamond works with it and that's a super expensive card for most commander players. If you're like me and have it already, I suggest you give it a try, as it also plays into the eggs strategy (second sunrise, faith's reward) really well.
This deck is awesome. I would enjoy playing against it. I love artifacts.
Much better tech than Atraxa, thumb up
Ive been running a Sharuum combo deck for a while now and I wanted to splash red for a while now. That being said Im not sure if i want to run breya. She's ok as a commander but idk if adding another color is worth losing the consistency that sharuum brings as a commander. Anyways why aren't you running metalworker and goblinwelder. They both are incredibly powerful and not as well know as powerful win cons.
Any love for grand architect? Seems like that could get out of hand in a hurry.
nostalgia
Stoneforge Mystic is to Nahiri, what Master Transmuter is to Breya.
You were on the same page as wotc with Daretti en Sharuum.
Awesome deck!
does the Breya commander deck in stores have most of these cards and can I build this using the already put together Breya deck to save time.
Where you get the pictures from and what program do you use to make this
whats the summoning station combo? pest tokens aren't artefacts
A lot of the new planewalkers work well in a deck like this. Saheeli Rai and the new Daretti could be sweet!
Isocron sceptor with supernatural stamina or dramatic reversal and paradox engine with some mana rocks. nuff said.
Can you please do an Akiri/Bruse Tarl Partnered in an equipment aggro deck?
awesome combos!
Isn't it pronounced "meer" battlesphere?
thank you soo much.
Great step by step deck tech!! What are your thoughts on Ancient Excavation?
Granted, on its own, Ancient Excavation is card disadvantage, but my deck has a recursion sub theme, so loot-type effects are actually card advantage since the cards in my graveyard are just another resource I can get for free with cards like Daretti, Sharuum, Goblin Welder, and of course, Scrap Mastery.
i added Scourglass for a wrath board that destroys all permanents except artifacts and lands. pretty sweet.
Along the lines of artifact decks, you should do a kurkesh deck tech. Someone in my group runs him and he's nuts
The deck. Not the person. Just thought I'd make that clear
Could you do some older commanders deck tech, i really need some advices on Nekusar(to abuse his draw effect)
xakuyer wedge on themanasourse has a good vid on Nekusar its not tier one but it is hilariously fun to play if you enjoy being the target that everyone hits a nice little interaction he doesn't add to his deck is a way to give nekusar infect every time an opponent draws the get a poison counter per card drawn
Can you use Breya s abilities the turn she comes into play? I mean if I have infinite mana (Pili Pala + Grand Architect) can I use her own ability to sac her and a thopter to create infinite thopters to later sac to do infinite damage?
Yes you can. Gross huh :)
liked and subbed. you have a good funny story telling voice and was very easy to follow. thanks for the great video and for the ideas! i just need $$$ first -.- lol.
What are your thoughts/experiences on the new Daretti planeswalker from Conspiracy 2, Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast?
I am building a similar deck.
I love you for this
Can anyone tell me where can I find that image of Breya he has as his background? I really would like to have it as my desktop display.
I used this one that Wizards shifted to the right for some of my video. magic.wizards.com/sites/mtg/files/images/featured/C16_EventsBlock_Breya-Etherium-Shaper_Production_Inline_RIGHT.jpg
@@JumboCommander Do you have another link?
also i just noticed this but nim deathmantle looks a lot like the head of overseer of the damned
Jumbo Commander awesome and quick response. Definitely happy with your vids. Thank you Sir
Does Breya's activated ability that does 3 damage to target player count as commander damage?
CheeZbredDawG no commander damage is only done by combat damage not activated ability damage however phyresis on Breya would give poison counters for the three damage
Professor brought me here :)
Love you channel m8 was wondering if u could make a deck tech on yidris maelstrom wielder
He's on the way. Glad you like the channel. Cheers.
esper has a lot to bring back artifacts grixis can go hard into sac effects thats y i see value in her abilities dictate of erabos doesnt care if the creature is an artifact too
have you ever thought of putting current prices under the cards on the screen?
I have. I think for these decks it may be problematic because the prices can be all over the place for these new cards. I do include the tappedout decklist so you can see a lot of current and real-time pricing. I will also be creating budget builds using the precons soon after release.
Breya loves her Panharmicon
Good video!
Your Sharuum loop doesn't work. You have to choose a target with the copy of Sharuum before the state based action puts the original Sharuum into your graveyard.
It's a tricky interaction and I'm glad you pointed it out for more explanation. I stole this from a previous post and slightly edited this answer from Vulpine (
Are the infinite combos fun and/or interesting for your play group or is it just a matter of wanting to win for the sake of winning? Just curious.
Fantastic, thank you for your input, I appreciate you taking the time to give me advice. Can't wait to see what you have in store!
Altar of the Brood / Disciple of the Vault + Liquidmetal Coating + Saheeli Rai ...gg for X opponents.
would a metallurgic summoning izzet deck work with her
I instantly slotted my metallurgic summonings into my Mizzix of the Izmagnus deck. I think this could make a great 4 color spells commander but there are other commanders out there that might synergize better.
Jumbo Commander OK who would you recommend over her
I think that the key to any spells deck is momentum. So a general with card draw or mana cheating synergies would be ideal. Mizzix, Jori En, Nekusar, Maelstrom Wanderer, Rashmi, but I did not want to discourage you from Breya. If you like her color identity then go for it; I'm sure you can brew a really great spells deck.
what's a rough estimate of what all these cards together will cost? anyone?
Weasley_Reviews $2000
I think reckless fireweaver could be pretty good in the deck.
Can't wait for Kyneios and Tiro one. Group Hug is just too plain... maybe a landfall? card draw?
Gabriel Rockefeller Group Hug into Jeskai Ascendancy Combo is my plan with them.
Gabriel Rockefeller The best super friends?
And now I want it.
So many Murs!
Myrs*
Pretty sure most mox artifacts are banned in commander.
Jumbo Commander Thank you, much appreciated.
Is this deck and format also good/fine to play 1 vs 1 ???
It's great in 1v1 just make sure to include some cheap interaction (stuff that messes up your opponent on turns 1-3).
Chrome Mox?
No metal worker??? It is soooo good, generates a ton of mana!!!!
I want that Urza with giant thopter wallpaper NOW ! :)
Can someone pass the link ?
btw great video :)
I share your need :O
YESSSSSSS
no George? world gorge plus reanimation spell on him is gross with breya
Its pure destruktive and i have most of the cards GG
Isn't Sharuum just way better?
As a general, yeah. But adding that extra colour goes a long way.
Yes, I believe she is better.
I mentioned the joy of "Scrap Mastery" to another person in the comments. One advantage of this general could be that if Sharuum is your commander then you always win with her. This deck has a lot of different ways to win making it really fun to play. I will leave you with the immortal words of Daretti himself:
"Where a lesser mind sees junk, I see infinite potential."
I love Daretti :)
Speaking of, new Daretti might go places in this deck for the token generation, artifact copying, and sacrificing.
needs Vandalblast+Mycosynth Lattice
or Hurkyl's Recall? YOU MONSTER! I like the way you think :)
Hmm..,.needs more dragonshift
Why no love for Pia and Kiran Nalaar :( wait are you guys Tezzeret supporters o_O
Hey, he's changed, he's here on Kaladesh and he's like ... judging science fairs. Everything's gonna be fine.
I cast mad prophet and pass...
