I wish you and your budgie good health! I really admire your patience and pure soul, I can notice how much you both adore him already! (Be carefull of windows, other animals or toxic plants. Even after getting a budgie continue your research bcs I learn new things even after having budgies for 11 years.) 💜💜💜
You guys are so cute 🥺. I love love love your personalities. Your Aesthetic. Everything about you ☺️ your Bird is so cute! I’m getting a bird next week:) love this!
awe i just saw this a year later! im here to give some tips!! even though a budgie is a small bird, they do need a very larga cage! And i recommend getting loads more toys for them to play with! over all since this is your first bird you did an alright job!
And also lookin around for some bird toy websites! there are tons that are amazing! My cockatiel loves there things! especially there toy parts! so i can make my bird toys!
Although the cage is smaller then what most people recommend it's a really good start especially with the perches. Personally I think I diet Change would be more important with pellets (tops pellets and harrisons is recommended) and fresh vegetables.
I have 4 budgies and a cockatiel,if they are aviary raised they can be hard to tame (all mine were hand fed and reared) nice set up,my birds go crazy for bird kabobs, remember to give him veggies!
Hi,I have 5 budgies of my own that free fly all day, please get a bigger cage! Flight cages are the way to go.I love that u don’t use dowel perches because they can give your bird arthritis. I would recommend feeding them veggie’s because a all seed diet is very bad for them.
Budgie diet for healthy life: 70% PELLETS(essential) 20% Vegetables and Fruits 10% Seeds and Nuts Remember all perches should be natural, and try not to keep a single Budgie for too long unless you plan on training them daily since they are social flock animals! It’s good to see someone that’s done research. The cage is an amazing size and that Budgie will be very fat and happy. 😂 My family and I didn’t get to do much research since we literally got our first Budgie in 3 seconds after our cat chased it onto our window and we had to rescue it! 😂
I wish it was a bigger cage.. with more toys… supervise and make sure he doesn’t chew on the rope perch, etc but he is one of the cutest budgies I’ve seen!
@varient3217 A 132 square feet room is big enough for a human but would you want to spend the majority of your time in it? Of course not! Even if birds spend a lot of time outside their cage, they still need a big enough home!

the items you got for the budgie are pretty good but the cage is pretty small i would recommend a flight cage i know not everyone can afford one but still. also i appreciate that you are feeding him pellets not much pet owners know that pellets are the best food for budgies. edit: the cage is fine if it’s just for eating and sleeping and when your away. good job on the cage set up!
@@m1ckymouse yes i’m saying that if they can fly in their room most of the day it’s fine sense in that cage it can’t fly that much it needs exercise so it doesn’t get fatty liver disease
@@yourdailydoseofjena2691 any budgie should have a flight cage it’s what i and many people recommend the cage that they have is not a ok cage if it spends the whole day in there
with carrots/other fruits and veg i HIGHLY recommend having them grated and on a flat plate you can leave on the top of the cage if the budgie hangs out there often or the bottom (as long as it doesn't poop too much on it) my budgie also didn't start eating fruits and veg until it had a companion so might be something to look into eventually!
I honestly would've called them out for grabbing that poor bird like that and would've taken my business elsewhere. But, I am happy for you! I'm currently deciding if I want a hamster, rat, guinea pig, or parakeet!
@@DannyRoss_ good logic but sadly the more you buy the more they plan on breeding and mistreating the animals there it's very sad and that toxic culture may never break :(
Wow I am so glad you guys did your reading on birds it is a beautiful bird but I would recommend getting a cage a little bit bigger I don’t mean this as a mean thing just a recommendation
i know this was 9 months ago but i just came across your video and i wanna say i’m highly impressed by how educated you guys were. i’m so glad you guys did not just wake one day and impulsively buy a bird without doing research. i’m very happy about all of the things you got for your little bird and how you worked on training with him. i absolutely love his name and think it suits him well. i wish you guys the best, you just gained another follower! 🫶
There are a few things I would like to mention here, first of all being the rope perch. Rope is notoriously bad for birds, both big and small so it’s better if you can, to just absolutely stay away from any sort of rope purchase that you can find The second thing I wanted to mention was, well on the topic of toys, you should also try to avoid toys with those specific kind of bells. There are bells that are specifically designed for birds, but if I remember correctly, there is almost always a sharp part on the inside of the bell that a bird can easily scratch or tear its beak on, so if you can just avoid it just to be on the safer side. Third thing I wanted to mention, was the size of the cage. There are a lot of points throughout the blog where toys and purchases are mentioned a lot, and while these are important for a birds cage, the most important thing is the size of a birdcage. You could have the biggest birdcage in the world, but you don’t want to add too many purchases or toys and overcrowd the cage, in this case, I would suggest getting a much bigger cage for the budgie. The fourth thing I wanted to mention, was going to a pet store to buy a parrot. There have been a ton of cases where people have looked through the dumpsters of big stores like Petsmart and Petco, and have found a live birds that had been thrown out into the dumpster, so if you can absolutely Try to look at shelters or rescues or sanctuaries over large pet store chains. Fifth point being, I feel like way too many people are casually, skipping over the fact that these guys are keeping this bird a secret from the parents, in no way, and no world is that ever going to work out long term 😂 Finally thing, but not least, I don’t care how well-behaved your cat is, you never ever ever keep your cat in the same room as your parrot, especially if they are being unsupervised. It’s just not going to work out. Even with a bigger bird like a macaw, I still Have to ask that you guys take proper safety precautions and keep your cat further away from your bird
I like watching these videos to see if new owners are doing anything wrong for their birds but you did a great job, smart idea to let the bird come out of the box on it's own since a lot of new owners try to grab/ force their birds out. You are going to have a very happy budgie :)
I find that spraying my budgies with water helps calm them down and get them out of shock so if he ever gets spooked hopefully this helps! Try to also give them filtered or bottled water since tap water has a bunch of stuff in it. That’s a very trusting Budgie and I know he’ll be really happy with you. It’s good to see natural perches in there!
It takes time, work at the birds pace not yours. My bird was a baby from a breeder but he was still very skittish anyways and took 6 to 8 months to fully feel comfortable and trust us. Its just a matter of understanding their body language, interacting with them a lot throughout the day (this can include offering them a tasty treat, speaking to them in a quiet voice, or simply just watching videos or doing homework next to their cage), and making them feel comfortable and not rushing the taming process. And remember also that all birds are different, what works for one may not work for the other. I hope you have success in taming your birdie :D
You already got to try feeding the bird with hand and interacting with it in like a day or something? When I got my budgie, we were recommended to wait for at least 1 week for them to settle in before starting interaction! Well that’s probably because mine is much younger and still is a baby. How old was your budgie when it was bought?
I just got back from bali and there us this shop we went to and there was a bird in a cage HANGING FROM TNE WALL and it was the size of a picture frame THE FOOD WAS GREEN there were 2 perches in the cage and we asked the lady that owned the shop where they got and it was A WILD BIRD that they caught and put in a cage and it didn't even have a name😢
