- Why the hell does this brake have so much resistance when the brake is not applied? Is this normal?? Can't seem to find much talk of this online.
Shimano Nexus 6000 Series Inter M roller brake, Model # BM-C6000-R
si.shimano.com...
All I could suggest is some sanding on the tighter tolerance parts, best of luck.
Yah it's normal. They are the STUPIDEST boat anchor thing EVER put on a bicycle. I could only get 38.1 mph out of it and Nexus 7i, on my speed hill, where my SA XL-RD5w did 46. The 7i does shift better with the paddle shifter. Overall it's likely 1 mph slower. Even worse in winter.
OTOH .... Sturmey Archer 90 mm XL DRUM brakes are the BEST thing ever put on a bicycle. ZERO drag and works the same in any weather. My first one with a dyno, has 32,000 miles with 8,200 on tour with the bike at 120 lbs, with me near 300 total. The drum brake is right up with disc brakes stopping, but without squealing, fussing and short pad life. It'll have 36,000 miles when it gets done.
I have no idea why this was recommended to me but I enjoy it nontheless
Unfortunately, I do not have a soution to your problem :(
Same thing here. Those Brakes are horrible. They strarted squeeking after a year. I cleaned them, added tons of grease (the special shimano one) but they still sqeek.
Today the rear wheel one broke when i had to service it again.
This Product is terrible.
