am in mid 60's still play, scary , love it Brothers,
In rehearsal with a guitarist friend, I was introduced to Jimmy Bruno. I'd felt I had known you, Jimmy, for at least the past 30 years! Not only is your music and approach so damn tasteful, but you've got a real human way with everything. I'm not sure how I missed you, but it's never too late. For all of you out there, Jimmy is THE MAN.
Im glad Jimmy still around. He's my new Joe Pass. I plan to collect all his videos.... for future learning.
I just chanced on this vid. And with the first minute, Homie was speaking the language of music I grew up with.
I'm friggin proud to see people my age throwing down the shit!!
I'm 67.
‘If you take off a day you might lose what you practised a day earlier’ What a slap-your-forehead moment! Beautiful wise statement - all the more powerful for being simple and obvious…
Hi Jimmy! I lived in Philly and saw you play in the 90s. Great memory and glad to see you out here helping people.
Thanks Jimmy your the guitar player we all want to be. What a wonderful person. 😇👍
Jimmy Bruno's 5 shapes technique of mastering scales and modes changed my life. It gave an ear learner a place to understand from. Thank You Jimmy Bruno.
Is there somewhere I can look these up or if you can share? Thank you
Yes pls
These videos are essential for guitarists and musicians who want to expand on their craft. God Bless you Jimmy.
Jimmy’s a modest genius.
I could sit and talk guitar with this dude for an entire day! He's so down to earth...cool dude!✌
Thanks Jimmy your videos are essential for guitarists and musicians who want to expand their knowledge and creativity
Every Jimmy Bruno has a valuable lesson. Even his amp settings he speaks of are helpful to get good tone. Old school and still cool as fuck. 🏆💯
This feels like therapy. Wish I had someone to spend time with him and ask some dumb questions.
Jimmy, you just made me realize something at 3:00. I dig movement. Music gets more interesting when there's a sense of movement. Heck, even drums! When you add grace notes or let your stick bounce to a stop on the snare, it's movement. Thank you for teaching us all about feeling. It's a big part of what music is about.
It's a real honor to spend time with you. Thanks Jimmy Bruno!
Hi Jimmy.....from Scotland.I attended a Howard Roberts Course many Years ago and he called the tune "All the Chords there are"....love your playing Jimmy.
JB
This is the only place on RUclips to hear a Benedetto unplugged.
i love you Jimmy. You're the man. thank you for clearing up on playing giant steps that way. that is really helpful not only for that tune but for others as well.
Thank you, Jimmy. This is a very cool, straight-forward and informative session.
Love it man! Keep at it! This is exactly the type of content I love to see. It's like siting down for coffee and picking a legends brain! A good ole boy! Very inspiring! 🙏
Just discovered your video, channel today. Very inspirational on so many levels. You've inspired me to get back into jazz studies, charts. Thank you. Subscribed.
Thanks Jimmy. Very helpful and I liked the practice exercise you demonstrated. I appreciate the time you put in for the rest of us.
I'm a blues player through and through and didn't think I had an interest in Jazz, but this man is so well spoken, informative, and seems so humble... He definitely peaked my interest and I'm gonna check out more on this gentleman.
I just stumbled on your channel. We met years ago at a workshop in San Jose where I taught. We've also shared drummers in Billy Jones. Just wanted to say thanks, I'm enjoying learning from your experience. This is very cool and honest, no BS! Thanks.
Just finished watching the entire video. I enjoyed that tremendously, thanks. Will be tuning in again.
if giant steps is a test, i give you 100% A+ cuz your version is the best iv heard. i listen to it often. your giant steps is just insane.
I throughly enjoyed this.
Thanks for sharing your insights.
Great job 👍, thanks for sharing, Greatest advice I ever received. 🎸, Thank you, CEG.🙏
Great Sery Jimmy. I am a very old friend of Jack Wilkins and learnt a lot from him in the end of the 90's. He came to Montreal 3 times for a week to help me with my playing and I went half a dozen times to his place in NYC.I offered him 2 instruments, the Tal Farlow he is still playing with and a very nice old L7C. I just realized it was almost 20 years ago and I do not believe he would recognize my playing though...
I like your playing and I think this very of yours is great .

Glad to hear you, Jimmy!!!
Brilliant Info, Thank you so much for sharing, I have learned so much already.
This was great! One can spend a lot of time on RUclips trying to figure out how to learn the guitar but the reality is that you won't learn the guitar on RUclips. One must put in the long hours and the work. Practice, practice, practice and then practice some more.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Mr. Bruno you are a Legend! I like the "Martini" comparison btw...thank you for telling us your "secrets"!
Thanks Jimmy, you are a real master, I will always be grateful for his teachings, soon I return to JBGW.
Massa, ozeias

Jimmy Bruno, this is a great video,I hope there are more,God Bless.
I am with you on All the Things You Are!
Excellent video. A lot of super useful info here. 🙏
Thank you for sharing!
Good info, Thanks...
Thanks Mr. Bruno. I studied with Ed Flanagan, Joe Federico and Dennis Sandole a hundred years ago. It is great to hear you put into simple terms concepts that can so easily fill the student's mind with confusion. I studied jazz with those teachers for seven years, but then came the siren call of flamenco music and I strayed from that training ground, but all those years of theory, ear training, improvisation have helped me immensely to crack the codes of another kind of difficult music. Also, my ability to take a phrase and expand it has also slowed my progress in gaining the fundamentals of flamenco; it was too easy for me to take a line and twist it into something else, so I had to really discipline myself to keep it simple and learn from the bottom up again. Thanks for sharing your lifetime of experience.
Seems. all the players from Philly went to Dennis Sandole . I know three of them and they all play in a similar fashion- well. He wrote a book but he passed before I ever would have had a chance to learn
From him. 14:28
wow, great stuff here! thanks for the honest and kind approach. cheers
love the lessons , thanks my friend
Thanks for answering my questions, Jimmy!

Great job Jimmyl
Ok Jimmy! All the Things You Are it is. I've got that one in a songbook. Gonna start today. ♡
Love this, Jimmy!
I must say I've only just literally a couple days back rediscovered Jimmy Bruno (I first discovered and regularly enjoyed listening to him back in the early 90s). Now the rediscovery is more likely to become a religion, as long as Mr Bruno keeps uploading these treasure chest! A new but equally fascinating addition to his music is his verbal discourse and musical-social practical concepts. THANKS, Jimmy!!
Same happened with me
Very enjoyable video jimmy, I learned some new ideas. Thanks
This was a new channel for me, loved it, Regards from Oslo
Thanks for the education , really makes the difference , sharing years of experience , I love it , Alfred NYC /PR
Fabulous and entertaining ❤
Lots of wisdom there, thanks!
on 8:50 the exercise he does is:
on a mjor scale (he is on the key of B) play:
Tonic - maj 7 - root - maj3/min3 (depending on which scale degree the note is)
It was educational. I like your laid-back common sense approach. Good video. Your pooch added that special "percussion" sound that added spice to your message!
"All the things you are", indeed!
thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Love the dog up stairs as well, he wants to be in the set too, very cutie !!!
I get your style of play I consider myself a beginner yet I am not going to give up.
Basic yet monumentally imperative information.

*If there ever was a god on earth, it's Jimmy. Is there anyone who doesn't love this man? You're an inspiration to us all. Thanks for being you, being accessible, and being brilliant.*
these might be the best
Thank you....
Yaaaaayyy!!!!
Excellent!!!!!
I love it ...👍
pretty cool video. jazz musicians always say a modern day approach but we must remember that all of this music came from the past. For example that basso continuo from 16th century the Baroque period.
thank you!!
I like this man.
still love it!!
Thank you fot the learnin’s
From starting to really learn both, Jazz Guitar, as in the way jazz guitarists like Jimmy Bruno play, is like slightly simplified classical guitar. They both merge chord voicings and arpeggios and melodic lines into the playing, instead of just doing a chord progression.
Feel free to leave a comment.
This is great -- definitely more ;-)
Keep it going.
Larry Meyer 'Jazz Cat' would LOVE this.
I just bought youre dvd “no nononsense jazz“, amazing tutorial.
Have you heard of the jazz guitar player Michael Sagmeister? He is really great too
Thank you. You've got a wonderful voice! You should tell stories and fairy tales! 😊
good video, helpful for sure. Cute dog as well !!
I play both piano, base and guitar.. it's good to do more than one.. I am a fan of everybody doing their part..I use the word synergy. The sum is greater than it's parts. Subscribed.. Having fun using IrealPro backing tracks.. just did fly me to the moon.. Sounded close to being in a studio.
