Actually, good question. I wasn't really paying attention to him, TBH. I'll ask him though and get back to you. I just remember him saying it was psychic damage, and didn't question it.
I'm glad to hear you had such a good time Rob. Unfortunately if you are a ranged martial and want to do real damage the combination of crossbow expert and sharpshooter are pretty much mandatory.
@@thedungeon1578 It was still great to hear your experience with piercer. I really like that they had all the tables fighting the Big Bad together at the end. What a great idea!
@@TheRobversion1 I certainly didn't mean to imply crossbow expert is a mandatory feat. There are a lot of good bonus actions that allow for a lot of interesting gameplay. But for consistent damage for a ranged character, round after round, combat after combat, no concentration, no X uses per rest, the combination of the bonus attack from crossbow expert with the bonus damage from sharpshooter is hard to beat. But the trade off for that damage output is you can become a bit of a one trick pony.
@@Mistah_Jaaaayah a couple of things here: 1. While its true, that round over round (sustained dmg) there are few that are better than xbow expert, there's, as i said, earlier, are a couple of options that can beat it. Moreover, sustained dmg is not as valuable as burst dmg or average dmg over the 1st 3 rounds. This widens the optimal options on the bonus action side. For example, hunter's mark + longbow or musket>xbow expert + hand xbow if we factor in burst dmg or average dmg over 3 rounds. Most combats in 5e are done within the 1st 3-4 rounds. 2. Theres nothing wrong with being a one-trick pony as long as you're enjoying what you're doing and the one thing you're doing is quite effective.
It's always nice to hear your experiences with how the classes/builds play out at the table.
Very entertaining to here the whole context of the one-shots. Thanks for your insights on the effectiveness of the piercer feat.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video! Question: how did the Psi Warrior end up dealing psychic damage? That's usually the Soulknife, isn't it?

Yes, piercer was pretty good, but as I said, crossbow expert was just better. Such is life.

Crossbow expert is not mandatory. That depends on whether you have a good bonus action or not. And theres alot out there.
