Never knew what he actually said in this one until I noticed the pic of Levar you snuck in at the start, and google told me that he directed that ep. IT FINALLY MAKES SENSE!!!
As the director of the episode, LeVar likely would have considered Archer a failure if he allowed Sim to pilot the shuttle. It goes against the script after all
Captain Archer is absolutely right. I wouldn’t want to fail LeVar either. It’s one thing to piss off a blind man, but something else entirely when that blind man is coming after you with Reading Rainbows…
I think (if memory serves) Trip is in a coma and this is a clone of him that will be a brain donor. The clone Trip has a very short lifespan and wants to do something important with the limited time he has, but Archer needs the clone Trip's body to be safe to harvest his remains. One of those "WTF?" ethical dilemma episodes. "Failing LeVar" of course is the actor forgetting his lines and just making a joke about director LeVar Burton.
I must be getting good at picking up on these, because the volume change that happened before he had difficulty seeing what needed to be said is what I noticed right away. That allowed me to listen and more on what was about to be said. Don’t fail Levar
The fear of disappointing LeVar seems very common. Luckily, you can't disappoint a picture!
It's still a heavy Burton to carry.
DAMMIT PIERCE!
This comment is streets ahead
Oh my god
@tmage23 What does streets ahead mean?

Nice catch!
All us *real* Enterprise fans already knew all that .
;p
I love how he channels George W. Bush in this scene.
Tom Cruise watched this outtake and said, "hire this man immediately!"
I liked the character, but let's be honest with ourselves, when was Trip not channeling ol gee dubya?
@@jonathanneal6611 I met him... I was surprised he didn't have a drawl. He's from Seattle! 🤣🤣🤣

Don't mess with Kunta Kinte.
Had enough rainbows lately.
And here I was at first thinking the intake was Connor Trinneer saying he has Trip's memories!
And then you remembered that there was an episode where Trip became comatose so Phlox made a quickly-grown clone named Sim?
That's a little verbal Trip up
"but don't take my word for it"
Nice touch with that intro. I got it once the intake hit.
LeVar directed this episode 🌈
And when he gets disappointed, he shoots Reading Rainbows like Captain Planet. Only he doesn't turn everyone into trees.
LOL Did Levar direct this episode or something? EDIT: Yup, he did.
Thank you, Manny Coto.
Nice! Those motion artifacts on the outtake clip would be fixed by inverse telecine or deinterlacing, depending on which technique was used.
Butterfly in the sky . . . * sniff * I can go twice . . . as . . . * bawl *
LOL this is one of the best yet. It fits so well
OMG, that’s so genius!
Oh no! Clearly his brain is falling apart, it won’t be any use for Trip.
Did he "Trip" over the truth? xD
Take a look, it's in a book.
Who wouldn’t be concerned about failing LaVar?!
Especially engineers.
Geordi approves of this.
No wonder he became a Wraith
I have watched this through twice and I can’t spot the *in*take. What is going on?
0:50 (looks into camera) "Failing. LeVar."
(LeVar being LeVar Burton, a.k.a. Geordi La Forge, who was directing the episode)
I mean he's not wrong...
why was he looking at 25th century Geordi La Forge
Wait, Geordi?
LeVar Burton directed this episode, presumably Conner is looking right at him when he said it. :)
Ok, I don't remember this episode. Who was in Trip's body?
some kinda clone of him

It also helped that the outtake clip had some artifacting.
@@GabePuratekuta funny thing, I never actually saw the artifacting! 😂 Only till i saw the comments did I finally go back and look
One does not simply, Fail LeVar.
title is inaccurate, that's not trip
They called him Sim, right? Or something like that?
0:04 - What is he looking at? Archer is sitting down, yet his eyeline is straight. Very weird.
thats sim, not trip.
