This is like the BATMAN BEGINS of Godzilla movies from Toho Studios in Japan. 3. Godzilla is a metaphor for the atomic bomb. He was a living dinosaur (like the Loch Ness Monster) that was accidentally mutated by the atomic bomb.
This is an unrelated Godzilla. Nothing to do with the other movies you watched. This is what Godzilla truly is. Not a protector. Not a hero. An animal full of hate. Godzilla is an allegory for the horrors of the nuclear bomb. The first appearance was in the 1954 movie. Godzilla got diluted after that into cheesy kid's movies. The original 1954 movie, the 1984 to 1995 series of movies, and Shin Godzilla are also worth a watch.
This Godzilla mirrors the American one from 1954. But this doesn't show the inhabitants of ODO island and the others from the mainland. It shows the monster before he got bigger and this one is more savage. Although the other ones never needed to, this one has to regenerate after using his atomic breath and it's much more destructive
It has been announced that another Godzilla movie will be produced by the same director. Whether it will be a sequel is still unclear at this point. Let’s look forward to it!
You got to watch the Godzilla Movies of the 80's and 90's.Beginning with "Return of Godzilla" aka "Godzilla 1984". Follow up is "Godzilla vs Biolante" and so on.
There's a great fan based monologue about Godzilla's motivations to destroy ... "I was the last of my kind, and you turned me into the first. That is why I punish you ... because I never though I could be made more alone." There are several incarnations of Godzilla and this one reflects the original. I prefer Godzilla like this - his original concept (a force of nature) over some other incarnations in other movies (an Anti-Hero or even a "protective buddy" to humanity). The film is called Minus One because World War II left Japan in ruins. They had to start all over again from Ground Zero to rebuild. Then Godzilla shows up and wrecks even more havoc. Sending them from Zero to Minus One. Noriko survived because she was infected with Godzilla Cells [G-Cells] (the black mark on her neck) which gave her his regenerative power. SOME FYI: - Godzilla has an internal controllable swim bladder for buoyancy, plus his natural buoyant "thick thighs", plus his paddling power of legs and tail makes him "appear to stand waist deep in water". - Godzilla was inspired by Ray Bradbury's "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" which became a 1953 movie with special effects by Legendary Ray Harryhausen. The first Godzilla movie came out in 1954. The first King Kong movie came out in 1933. - Godzilla is a prehistoric monster awakened, mutated, and empowered by nuclear radiation. Godzilla is a symbol of the devastating consequences of nuclear war. He is a force of nature with atomic breath.
1:50 Mark! I wonder which version you got to see, though. The wrong one in which the subtitles refer to the piston-engine fighter as a "jet" or the corrected one that doesn't? 🤔
If you’re diving in the ocean and you surface too quickly without exhaling your body goes through rapid decompression which causes a potentially fatal condition called the bends.
This version of Godzilla is arguably the meanest of them all, he'll chew people but not eat them, cross a huge empty field just to step on a house, and chase something just for existing.
You really need to watch the first black n white 1954 movie to see how well this movie pays respect to the original movie. Both that movie and this one both reference the locals of Ido island having an old monster legend they called Godzilla. The Japanese later introduced the regeneration cells as a way to explain how Godzilla can absorb so much punishment from modern weapons and still not be affected. I see it as It being like the Loch Ness Monster legend but a lot more destructive than our Nessy.
•Godzilla attacks the vulnerable city as Tokyo begins to rebuild from the war's devastation. Originating from Odo Island, the monster was exposed to the Bikini Atoll nuclear tests, causing him to grow significantly and gain the ability to unleash an atomic heat ray from his mouth, similar to an atomic blast. •Godzilla represented the fears that many Japanese held about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the possibility of recurrence. As the series progressed, so did Godzilla, changing into a less destructive and more heroic character. •This incarnation of Godzilla harbored strong grudge toward humanity for nuclear tests which irradiated him in the first place not unlike the original iteration of the character, though his case is much worse as he was already hostile towards humans prior to his mutation. •In the 1954 film, Godzilla is portrayed as a tragic monster who lashed out at humanity by destroying any boats that he encountered and later rampaging across and destroying Tokyo in retaliation for the destruction of his home and death of his family by an American H-bomb test. •Godzilla is buoyant. It isn't actually "standing" on anything, but instead it has a natural ability to go vertical due to its aquatic nature using a swim bladder and treading water to stay vertical in the deep sea.
If you haven't, please watch "Shin Godzilla" (2016) also a Japanese film, directed by Anno Hideaki who created one of the most famous animes of all time "Neon Genesis Evangelion".
16:27 Mark! Trains resemble giant snakes/serpents/worms to him! 😮 His attacks are taste-test methods. Sharks, lacking hands, use their mouths to test whether or not something is edible. 🦈 By the way! The directors of both movies were inspired by their cats! 😼
Godzilla did not start in comics, though in Japan comics are called magna, or animated as anime, it was 1954 Honda made it not the car company the director
9:32 Mark! "Tubi" has movies made by the competition in which whales, sharks, and other sea beasts are responsible for such attacks! I guess this is a slight acknowledgment of them and a put-down combined? 🤔 😁😂😅
hmmm ... Shikishima is an extremely ancient name for Japan so when people in the movie say his name they are literally screaming " Japan ! Japan ! " ...
Godzilla Minus one is not a remake and is its own separate film. It borrows a few elements from the original and some small references but beyond that, they are two completely different films.
16:08 Mark! Scale alert! Apparently, in "Kong: Skull Island" he was only as big as "Mini-Kong" in "Godzilla × Kong: The New Empire" is! 😮 Here, this Godzilla is baby-sized still compared to the one seen in that movie! 😮
28:47 Mark! If the crush depth method fails, giving him the Bends is their second option. 😮 Submersibles and submarines need to avoid their crush depths while divers who rise too fast get the Bends! 😮
1:00 no godzilla started as a movie back in 1954. He did have comics down the road. Also manga. (Those are Japanese comics) also no minus one has nothing to do with the monsterverse. 13:00 that's not how this godzilla works. Ignore the monsterverse version. 14:44 the first boat he sank showed you that this godzilla doesn't care. 36:26 again no this version of godzilla is not canon to the monsterverse version. This is basically a throwback to the original gojira movie where he's a engine of mankind uses of nuclear weapons and shikaizima trauma during his times as a kamikaze pilot.
1:13 Mark! Howdy! 🤠 "Comics" you say! Ahem. It's funny that you should mention that! In the 1970s "Marvel Comics" had the rights long enough to give "Godzilla" his own series run! He was undefeated! The Avengers, et al, didn't know his motivations, so he was treated as a big threat! By the series end, they all learned he was merely walking across North America to get from one coast to the other! 😅 "Devil Dinosaur" replaced him once their license expired. 😊
Godzilla represents the pain of the Japanese during the war, as well as atomic fear. The film is not connected to any previous film, the title mentions that when Japan was devastated by the war they were at "zeroes" but with Godzilla's attack Japan went from zero to minus one

All of these actors are extremely well known in Japan and even outside Japan especially the Male lead. The eldest actor Yoshioka has been well known since the 70s when he debuted as a child and has had a great career throughout! The best part is all of them deliver 99% of the time in any genre or role unlike Hollywood actors who rarely deliver and even when they do they underdeliver. I've never had so many belly laughs watching all genres of Japanese movies and Americans can't deliver comedy even in Comedy movies. Japanese make all kinds of movies, more kinds than you can think of! When I watch a Japanese movie I'm 90% sure I will be entertained. When I watch an American movie I'm 90% sure I will NOT be entertained. Try watching Yoshioka's Always Sunset on Third Street Trilogy. It is American actors who are talentless hacks but snobbish. Japanese movies feed the senses and the soul.

Good news in Japan: Godzilla minus one will be broadcast for the first time on November 1st, just before his 70th birthday, on November 3rd. Of course it’s uncut!
You go watch the 1954 Gojira movie, the first Godzilla movie. Godzilla Minus One reflects that storyline more than any Monsterverse movies. The end of WWII after the atomic bombs Japan culture economy Wipeout it was described at zero.
2:58 Mark! Dead fish appear in places where they seek refuge from predators. They die when they get out of their comfort zone. 😢😮 Like here. That or they swim into trawler nets. Sharks, orcas, or whatever are close behind them. Hungry dolphins sometimes get caught. 😢
Godzilla floats like a big duck or pelican and his hanging tail and legs act like the submerged pylons of an oil rig. The water is too calm to rock Godzilla but he would slowly drift with a current if he didn't resist it.
Don't forget that the American Godzilla Timeline has nothing to do with the original Godzilla Movies from Japan. In the 50's Godzilla was pure Evil,in the 60's and 70's there are much Movies where Godzilla is the Hero ( Children loved it 😉 ) in the 80's and 90's (my favourite Timeline cause i grow up with them) he is kind of Anti Hero. Also in the 2000 Movies."Shin Godzilla" is a stand alone Movie. And then finally they made " Minus One" and it is still better than the American Movies. The American Movies are just good Popcorn Flicks
IMHO, this is the best Godzilla movie since the 1954 original. Toho dropped the campy stuff and went back to their roots. When you watch the JAPANESE original (not the American overdub) the feel is more documentary and the parallels between the atomic bomb and Godzilla are more obvious. The SFX are, y'know 1954, but the story and drama make up for it.
Monsterverse sux. They turned him into a hero, running-literally-around with his best bud, Kong, saving the world from the bad guys. Freaking gross. That's NOT Godzilla. This movie IS Godzilla, 💯%‼️
Godzilla wasn’t based on any comics, it was a 1954 film with many metaphors relating to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Good react video though!
What godizlla repersents in the Japanese ones will differ by movie to movie, minus one is a completely one off movie with no ties to anything else. It was originally about the horros of nuclear weapons and war in 1954, it was a direct commentary from a country that got nuked, sometimes about global warming, the one before this was about how the goverment handled the 3.11 earthquake, this one was about Shikishima's guilt manifesting as a big monster because he kept avoiding it. I haven't watched any of the hollywood movies so I can't say about how those are, but like how Scifi is usually a used as a metaphor for real world issues, usually Godizlla is just a metaphor for whatever the creator wants to talk about.
please stop about theroys minus one or 1.0 the titel Godzilla Minus One is because after the war and the nuclear bombs Japan was back to Zero and than Godzilla shows up and send them onwards back to Minus One.
AS I'm sure many have told you already, this movie has no connection to any other Godzilla movie. The Monsterverse movies are more like the older Godzilla movies from the 1960's & 70's.. You should watch some of them.. along with Godzilla movies from the 1980's-2000's.. and Shin Godzilla.. and the Gamera trilogy from the 1990's.. Giant monster movies, even when they have no plot, are FUN!
Idealizing a giant-destructive monster as some sort of god or guardian to humanity/civilization is kinda messed up. You can’t expect a monster that came from the depths of nowhere and that helps humanity for no reason.
This movie should have won MORE Oscars, including Movie of The Year !!

Terrorism is committed by irregular soldiers; terrorism is not defined as terrorism committed by regular soldiers
@@wadepsilon01 huh? What the he'll does that have to do with what I'm talking about?
thanks for reaction
Her hair looks great!! 😁
True and unfortunate
The only Godzilla that I got emotional on.
true!
18:08 At least that wall held when nothing else held 😁
27:24 I thought Joy was singing the chorus to Elton John's Goodbye Yellowbrick Road 😂
Movie of the decade.
34:39 "Can he leave after that or he just making a laying an egg? Maybe he was pregnant."
Excellent observation Marian. So stunning and brave Marian.
True, and Godzilla baby will make his debut in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1993)
your discussion after the movie was EXCELLENT! when you talk about your thoughts is one of the best things about your channel, thank you! 👍☺
17:04 Mark! His land-walking resembles our water wading! As if it is a struggle for him not to shuffle his feet along and to take big steps! 🤔
G-cells help Godzilla and those infected by them to regenerate and/or mutate. Loved the reactions.
24:43
Salute with the right hand.
It is impolite to salute with the left hand (unless the right hand is missing or the person is holding a gun).
The fact that hes standing straight up in the ocean is ridiculous 😂
Yamazaki explained because it's an amphibious creature it has a buoyant diaphragm. Godzilla wouldn't be the only animal with that ability.
of course talking shit
There's a great fan based monologue about Godzilla's motivations to destroy ... "I was the last of my kind, and you turned me into the first. That is why I punish you ... because I never though I could be made more alone."
There are several incarnations of Godzilla and this one reflects the original.
SOME FYI:
- Godzilla has an internal controllable swim bladder for buoyancy, plus his natural buoyant "thick thighs", plus his paddling power of legs and tail makes him "appear to stand waist deep in water".
As regards the mark on her neck, listen closely to what the radio announcer says in the scene showing the aftermath of the city attack.....
This version of Godzilla is arguably the meanest of them all, he'll chew people but not eat them, cross a huge empty field just to step on a house, and chase something just for existing.
minus goji is mostly a victim of vengeance same as 1954, GMK Godzilla is a obvious sinister, absolutely the most ruthless version of the character
@@SuperiorlySubversive hmmm...he does wag his tail...
Way better than the American crapola they call Godzilla movies.
Great reaction. This Godzilla much different than in the American versions. A couple more installments and someone will probably adopt him as a pet.
By the way! The directors of both movies were inspired by their cats! 😼
The Takao!
Japan ! " ...
This is a remake of the original Godzilla that came out in 1954. He was the bad guy in that picture.
It's not a remake at all.
Here, this Godzilla is baby-sized still compared to the one seen in that movie! 😮
28:47 Mark! If the crush depth method fails, giving him the Bends is their second option. 😮
Submersibles and submarines need to avoid their crush depths while divers who rise too fast get the Bends!
"Devil Dinosaur" replaced him once their license expired. 😊
11:05
Many people laugh at this line when it's translated into English.
But to Japanese speakers, it doesn't sound so strange.
Godzilla represents the pain of the Japanese during the war, as well as atomic fear.
The film is not connected to any previous film, the title mentions that when Japan was devastated by the war they were at "zeroes" but with Godzilla's attack Japan went from zero to minus one
Not to be rude but Japan was almost as bad as Germany at least the military was
The most powerful godzillas in the movies:
Heisei godzilla
Godzilla earth
Godzilla showa
Godzilla monsterverse
Godzilla final wars
These versions of godzillas can bring about the end of the world and are capable of destroying even cosmic beings.
Teenage godzilla😂
ゴジラ is the best!!!
I should have watched this reaction sooner but better late then never as they say' have you thought about watching the original Godzilla series just to learn more stuff about him and other monsters? The first Godzilla series goes from 1954 to 1975' I guess I could give you a run down of the first 15 Godzilla films, I'm also going to add tie in film on this list which many take place in the same universe as the Godzilla films.
But I'll give those ones their own list as well too' but you don't have to watch them all there are only a few imported ones from the tie in films you should see, the rest you can either take them or leave them! Here are both lists:

You guys should react to shin Godzilla (Godzilla Resurgence)
This movie is its own separate story not connected to the monster-verse movies you have been watching.
A lot of people writing paragraphs trying to explain this lmao.
If you want to watch a Godzilla film with laser weapons in it, watch and react to “Godzilla 1985”.
🙂
Godzilla was created by Toho Studios in Japan in 1954. The character was the result of a collaboration between multiple people
2:58 Mark! Dead fish appear in places where they seek refuge from predators. They die when they get out of their comfort zone. 😢😮 Like here. That or they swim into trawler nets. Sharks, orcas, or whatever are close behind them. Hungry dolphins sometimes get caught. 😢
He was a fighter trained fighter pilot, but then told he was now a suicide bomber. Dont blame him
Godzilla floats like a big duck or pelican and his hanging tail and legs act like the submerged pylons of an oil rig. The water is too calm to rock Godzilla but he would slowly drift with a current if he didn't resist it.
My only gripe with the movie is it kinda stalls during the 3rd quarter
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⚡🥃🇿🇦
You forgot to watch Shin Godzilla (2016)
Godzilla is a metaphor for the United States being awakened during WW2 and the obvious connection to the bombing of Japan's cities by the U.S.
This godzilla is much smaller and weaker than most other versions.
The Japanese version and American version have no relationship besides their name and a Kaijiu
This is a completely unrelated Godzilla. It has nothing to do with the other Godzilla movies you've watched guys.
Maybe? even the name "Godzilla" is japanese 😆
This movie is a standalone, not connected to anything else.
GAME OVER!
Monsterverse sux. They turned him into a hero, running-literally-around with his best bud, Kong, saving the world from the bad guys. Freaking gross.
That's NOT Godzilla.
This movie IS Godzilla, 💯%‼️
First time watching it? You can tell she already saw this movie. She was calling for things before they happened.
I guess you are new to this channel. 😁
Thank you. Really. Thank you.
GREAT FILM .......my other , films ,,,,ect ect.....TRANSFORMERS ! .
Your right Godzilla is a monster. Hollywood Godzilla has nothing to do with the original Tojo.
Godzilla wasn’t based on any comics, it was a 1954 film with many metaphors relating to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Good react video though!
You should really check out Godzilla 54, the original. It is a masterpiece as well
What godizlla repersents in the Japanese ones will differ by movie to movie, minus one is a completely one off movie with no ties to anything else.
Japanese this is THE REAL Godzilla verse...best also...
please stop about theroys minus one or 1.0 the titel Godzilla Minus One is because after the war and the nuclear bombs Japan was back to Zero and than Godzilla shows up and send them onwards back to Minus One.
✌️❤️❤️!.....
There is no 1930s Godzilla, the oldest is the 1955 movie.

This movie is so good because is about people not godzila himselve
Idealizing a giant-destructive monster as some sort of god or guardian to humanity/civilization is kinda messed up.
You can’t expect a monster that came from the depths of nowhere and that helps humanity for no reason.
