I mean, shorts are really the easiest way to grow a channel currently. You don't have to use them, but it helps
@Skeeeewoah If your goal is to just do shorts and grow your channel for that, sure, but if your goal is to build an audience for long form videos, then shorts is not a shortcut for it. More times than not, it seems like it will do more harm than good.
@@thecasualracinggamer it literally is. This isn't just theory. Big channels have talked about it. Shorts don't make you any money directly, but that get a mass amount of new eyes on you and you have to figure out how to get them to click through to your channel from there.

I actually saw the short first, but I really don’t watch them but as YT does they shove them down your throats, then later I saw one of the videos about one of the unexpected iRacing win videos and absolutely love those stories. Keep up the good work and don’t burn yourself out
Looking forward to more long form content. Don’t worry about cutting down your content schedule to make higher quality content. Good example of a huge success doing this was with the Mythbusters. Adam Savage has been pretty vocal about how as the seasons went on, they wanted Discovery to give them LESS episodes a season so they could be higher production quality.

Man, this is perfect timing, thank you. I've been trying to work through how I could turn my content into shorts since RUclips is pushing them so hard. My biggest takeaway is to just keep doing what I'm doing, even if I do shorts, I should just make what I want to make and ignore what'll get me millions of views.

3:28 so real. One of my favorite creators Cameron Das also has the same problem. He’ll post a video of him driving a rental kart, and the top comments will be “why is this grown man racing 13 year olds”. It’s annoying when uninformed people have bad takes and still get a ton of likes on their comments. Also, your short about “Timmy” getting blacklisted is another rough comment section to read.

I think too many people get caught up in a little bit of success and they are afraid to venture out of that and they end up limiting themself and hating it at the end of the day. This is a really interesting take. Please keep doing what you're doing. As an irl racer, you're just about the only sim racing content creator that I enjoy. I love the straight to the fact objectiveness and lack of over-the-top theatrics and reactions. You certainly could do more click bait type stuff and grow quickly, but I appreciate that you don't.
Good on you, DJ, it's the right decision. The vertical video format is a cancerous blight on the internet imho. I've completely resisted making any for my channel because it's not the kind of content I want to do, either.

I‘m glad you made the shorts you did because I found your channel through them sooner than I maybe would have otherwise but it‘s the right decision
Short form content as a whole is actually harmful the more it‘s consumed, the shorts algorithm on RUclips is a disaster and the economics of it are a complete joke
Your long-form content is top of the line stuff and if you have more fun doing it as well, that’s the most important thing

I hate shorts. If I find a new content creator and their last 5 to 10 uploads are just shorts, I don't bother subbing. Keep up the great work! Your videos are high quality and unique, you don't just put out the same stuff everyone else does.

Shorts encourage people to keep eyes on the screen but do not encourage engagement for the creators. Yes, you may see follows go up, but you see that captured eyeballs vs time, drops significantly.
I come from RUclips shorts, so that's a plus 1!

Don’t fall into the trap a lot of guys do of never posting anything because they want it to be perfect. The thing that makes elly productions or Eric estep so good is that they upload pretty often

@@DJYeeJay Depends what you want to do with the channel but honestly if you want to do this properly you need to change your username and pic.
If you ever do change it, at least keep the same color scheme. I instantly recognize a new upload because of the icon and it may cause some viewers to lose track of your vids.
