    Thank the algorithm gods for putting your channel on my homepage 🙏🏻
    Your attention to detail is insane. I appreciate all your commentary as well, it makes your videos entertaining. There’s so many builds on yt where you watch some guy build a model with 30 mins of background music, it’s so dull.
    Great work, please keep making videos of your builds. Su-57 next?? 👀

      Haha, let me also thank the mighty algrithm for connecting us as well as you for your kind words! :)
      The thing about contemporary technology such as the Su-57 is that they don't let people near it for obvious reasons. Photo/video references are very important to me when it comes to building models and so I prefer to build stuff I can walk around and take pictures of. I am hoping to live long enough to have a chance to properly "document" modern aircraft such as the Su-57, the F-22 or the F-35 but I have to accept that that may not happen in my lifetime.

    Wow, you put an incredible amount of details in that tail boom! It would be worth using it as a master for casting resin copies, and selling them as aftermarket & correction details... I will try to improve my kit too, now that i know where are the major weaknesses: thank you for sharing these videos

    • @PointBlankModelling
      @PointBlankModelling  20 дней назад +1

      Thanks so much, Andrea! It's nice of you to ask but to be honest I don't think this tail is good enough to be used as a master to cast resin copies of. There are a number of things i would do differently the second time around, for example I'd completely erase the original rivet detail and re-do the surface details including the panel lines, etc. The idea did cross my mind though but I think it would probably be a better idea to use 3d technology to build a correction set. Image the possibilities... positive rivets rows, perfect precision etc.

    Those boxes on the lower part of the tail boom might be housings for the doppler navigation system. Something similar like on the Mi-8 or Mi-24

      @PointBlankModelling  Месяц назад +2

      Thank you - I think you are probably right - I also observed similar boxes on the Mi-24 and the Mi-8. Next time I'll go to one of the museums where they have Mi-2s, I'll ask around to see if someone can confirm!

      @@PointBlankModellingHey, engineer with PZL Mi-2 avionics experience here! Those two boxes on the tailboom are the microwave transmitter and receiver antennas for the RV-3 type radar altimeter 😎🤘

      Thanks, Tom! The next episode is coming in a few weeks. If you look long enough, there is always something to be improved. :)
      On the other hand, most upgrades are not worth the effort so what I am trying to get better at is evaluating what to touch vs leave as is.
      Life is short and most improvements are barely noticeble so striking a good balance would be key... at least that's how I see it.

    Great video! I was surprised this was only your second one. I have been working on and, recording my first video during my current build and your video has been a bit of an inspiration. I am currently working in a 1/35 Hind that I bought long time ago when I thought it was a good idea. The kit is the laziest thing I have ever seen and I have been attempting to detail it similar to what you are doing. I don't have all the tools that you do for scratchbuilding but luckily I have a 3D printer so certain parts for me are easier to recreate that way, though I prefer to make them in ctyrene and brass sheets. Can I ask what your camera set up is? I also might switch to a black background like yours for building as it might show the light model better.

    • @PointBlankModelling
      @PointBlankModelling  7 месяцев назад

      Hi There! I'm glad you found a bit of insipiration in this video. 3D printers are great but I don't have one - otherwise I definitely would have used it for some of the details in this build. In terms of the camera set up - I am still very much in the process of figuring this all out but here are a few things that may be useful.
      I use a Canon EOS R10 and a bunch of relatively cheap 36W, 6000K led panels designed for ceilings attached to a rack I built with a white shower curtain wrapped around as diffusor. I can share some photos if you are interested. For the background, I used the backside of my cutting mat. I kind of ruined it by spilling cement all over it and I could not buy a new one without a grid printed on both sides so in the next video I am going to use an XXL mouse pad instead - we'll see how that will work out. I find that color grading helps a lot when it comes to making details more visible on all grey/white parts.
      Good luck with your Hind! I also have two in my stash: the Trumpeter one in 1/35 and the new Zvezda in 1/48. The former has terrible negative rivet detail while the latter has absolutely none so I'm having a hard time deciding which one to tackle first. Let us know once your video is ready!

    5:53 Q: "What type of un-diagnosed mental disorder do you think I have ?"
    A: Major detailomania [not to be confused with Megalomania] with a (not so) healthy dose of Riveritis (a rare condition that the patient-modeller suffers from chronic lack of rivets). 😁
    Amazing job man, what an eye for details.
