You can't go wrong with any island in the Caribbean. Our countries are known for their friendly locals, and we treat tourists like royalty because our economies heavily rely on tourism.
Thanks so much for your vlog. I thoroughly enjoyed it. That’s yet another perspective through your lens to watch this beautiful place of Antigua and Barbuda. ❤
I visited Antigua many years ago (maybe 18) and from what I recall, Harrison Ford had a place right near where that old shipyard was. Had a beer and contemplated life a bit there. Managed to convince myself to return to the states and go back to work.
Good video, very well put together. However, roti is not an authentic antiguan breakfast. Next time you visit, try to get some saltfish and chop up. Also, long bay is nice, but the best beaches are on the western coast of the island. Particularly the southwest. Thanks for visiting our beautiful island, and we look forward to hosting you again.
That tree you asked about in English Harbour had a gourd type fruit that was filled with pounce which is ground up cuttlefish bones. It was sprinkled on ink documents in order for the ink to dry quickly without blotting or running. There were more modern containers that looked like salt shakers, made of bone, chine, wood, etc. Still don't remember name of tree.
I really enjoyed this video and especially since we will be going to Antigua for the first time this January. We get to spend the month there so we will be spending a lot of time on those beaches. I plan to bundle up our bag chairs and umbrella as a check bag on the airplane so we can relax on the beaches. We will also see all those historic sites. The roads looked to be in much better condition than what I keep reading about on the different web pages. I do all the driving and I am used to driving on the left as we usually go to St Thomas, but having the steering wheel on the right may really freak my mind out a bit. 😀 Were you using the google maps app to get around the island so well? Also the downtown market....where did you find parking? We will go there too. Thanks for sharing Antigua with us. 🥰
Iived in Antigua it's a beautiful island with love friendly people, if you get time visit the Antigua and Barbuda humane society it's amazing how far it's come, so many beaches to choose from
Dah...the name of the tree behind the Museum at the Dockyard is the Sandbox Tree. The thorns on the tree was used as poison to stun fish. The fruit explodes and flies out in all directions. The pods were used as pounce shakers. These were used to dry off the ink on documents written with nibbed pens. Wood used for boat building. Crazy I hadn't remembered the name. Have a nice cruise.
I grew up in Antigua. Canadian parents. We went in 1960, lived on Carlisle Bay while dad worked on Cirtain Bluff Hotel. Just enjoy. Antigua is magical. I don't remember the name of that tree outside the museum in English Harbour bit I believe it's fruit was used as an ink blotter. I will look it up. English Harbour was totally abandoned except for goats, at one time. It's now a UNESCO world heritage site. We owned one of the first fiberglass sailboats in Antigua. Jackpot was a Columbia 22 imported by Mr. Baker who was Pan AM manager in Antigua in the 70s. Glad you have the opportunity to visit the island.
Simone is NOT Antiguan. I'm Guyanese so I can detect her accent and roti is definitely Guyanese as well. Breakfast roti is not an Antiguan breakfast. I've never heard of it in all my 35 years in Antigua 😂🤣🤣. Nope.

It is always best to get to know the locals. They are a huge source of not only the local sites but the wider places to go.

He is talking about the tree I asked about in the video
Thank you.
Antigua national breakfast is chop up and salt fish 😂
Breakfast roti? Not traditional Antiguan
No? What is?
Simone is NOT Antiguan. I'm Guyanese so I can detect her accent and roti is definitely Guyanese as well. Breakfast roti is not an Antiguan breakfast. I've never heard of it in all my 35 years in Antigua 😂🤣🤣. Nope.
No? What is? What should we do next time we are there?
Still looks good to me amen?😂😂❤
Africa is east of Antigua (pronounced An tee gah by the way) not west😂
You're mispronouncing the name of the place. It sounds like "Antiga".
@barry1578 They are actually pronouncing it correctly. We the locals, pronounce it Antiga. 😊
@@lease389 Seems like that's a good reason to say they're mispronouncing it.
LOL now I am confused
You guys don't eat enough or wow enough during mealtime...... please get your act together 😂😂😂😂😂
That's not an authentic Antiguan breakfast.. just saying
No? what is?
Is this before or after the enslavement of Antigens? I’m asking for friend.
Wait.. what?
