"Divisiveness is a very cheap tool for people who want to control things..."
I am, once again, overwhelmed with admiration for Irish women.
If only the people who buy into intolerance could see how they are being manipulated into supporting the aspirations of a few at the expense of everyone else, including themselves...
"Divisiveness is a very cheap tool for people who want to control things and gain power...It's a lazy political ideology" perfectly describes the MO of the Trump Republican party and all its enablers.

I love Caitriona Balfe. Such a talented actress and just a breath of fresh air. I hope she gets more roles. But hopefully not let go of Outlander. I’m asking a lot but she is just someone I always want to see onscreen.
She's so great at changing accents. Huge Outlander fan. Had no idea she's Irish.
I can’t wait to watch it in March ❤️
The hint in her being Irish is how she spells and pronounces her name, she is also a native Irish speaker
@@veronicadredd22 a Gaeilgeoir.
I was just going to say the same! I thought she was English.
I actually knew she was Irish and I think her English accent is really good. But I'm American and I don't have much of an ear for accents lol.
Finally an informed and erudite interviewer on a US talk show. First class Stephen Colbert
i watched this interview on TV but i came here just to give it a thumbs up. lovely person
god i love her. what a talent.
I admire her courage. Coming out to a talk show *without a bra* ? (Chef's kiss) brave woman
She's stunning. Hope she gets more roles.
Ugh she's absolutely delightful, I love her
Love this movie so much.
Beautiful.
I appreciate that you have included the fada, so often fadas get left out, like in Sean, which gives it a different meaning entirely.
She dropped the fada from her names years ago. I'm so happy she's using it again.
@@kerolives me, too ..that is the accent correct? I have one in my name as well ..but mine is a Spanish last name I've used it since I was little and have never stopped...it just took me awhile to figure it out on the computer long ago ...I love using my accent . (fada)
She seems very delightful. Hope to see more of her work
She's so beautiful and RIDICULOUSLY TALENTED. 💜
👍🏿
Beautiful, talented, intelligent, great personality, Caitriona Balfe 👏 i love her
Amazing actress, amazing interview. I love her and Outlander is my all time favorite series. ❤️
I hitchhiked and spend some days in belfast around 2014 - got some help from some very friendly spirits and the city seemed very laid back and cultural at the time
I still remember when she was a Victoria secret model. Now she's one of the best actresses in Hollywood.
Belfast was a great movie and she was amazing in it too 💯💯💯
She’s dressed like a princess because she’s a princess.(with a delicious smile)
Love her so much, what a talented actress, great in every role, she deserves to win lots of awards. 💃🏻🙏🏼💟
She looks gorgeous ❤️
She is amazing, love her so much ❤️😍
Love her Mardi Gras dress!!!
I really relate to what she said at the end here. When I went to India as a child, I hated it because it was a third world country, and I was a spoiled American kid. The thing is, I knew everyone in my orbit was very kind, and that I was loved because they knew I was one of them. The people are what make all the difference, like she said. I also relate to her point about making family wherever you go - I'm notorious for having many friends, all over the country. For me, these people are my family just as much as my biological family is, and I love them all.
Just listening to the conversation, but...that dress!!!!❤️❤️❤️
It was a weird dress selection for someone who used to be a runway model and who looks good in everything.

Saw it yesterday & really enjoyed.... Belfast XXX
I'll be 68 in two months, I am an Irish Catholic on my mom's side, and Czech on my dad's side. It was my mom's family that I was around growing up, my dad's family is in the midwest. Both sides of my family emigrated to the US in the 1880's. My mom and her brothers (she was the only girl in a house of 7 kids. By that side of the family growing up, I heard all the stories of what the Brits did to the Irish for 700 years. Since then I've learned a good portion of tyhe stories were true and a fair portion were BS. I was told that it was the Protestants that called what was going on in Northern Ireland during those times
"The Troubles" and when I was a young man I very much admired Sein Fien and the Provos. I've since learned that a good part of real Irish, of both religions felt the Irish Americans were stupid. Except for the formentioned political party and the bombers. I turned my feelings anew when the peace treaty was signed. I felt, if those organizations were cool with the peace terms, then so was I. The last 20+ years for me feel like a weight taken off my chest. When I was young and even now I feel the US involvent in the Vietnam War was also very stupid. Not the Americans who served there but the two Presidents and other polititions that felt the need to send young men and women to die in a war we should have never been in did it because it made them feel like bigshots, the US companies that made so much money by spilling blood, and so LBJ and Tricky Dick could get a hardon at night. My feelings for quite a while now that wars are just plain stupid. And the more that you travel the world, you realize that all people are the same. And for those of you who knew who knew he was, I thank the late Anthony Bordain for reinforcing my feelings of sameness and for peace. If I messed up this true story in any way, the fault is all mine.
And I truly wish everyone, Peace. "Imagine all the people...."
Very balsy and powerful woman i feel she should go i to politics myself
Why wish that horror on anyone? * shudder*
She goin to tha Mardi Gras! 💜💚💛
Love the Mardi Gas dress
I always say that patenting young children is basically glorified bodily-fluid management.
If they ever need anyone to play a sister to a character played by Jennifer Lawrence, Caitríona is your girl! The move the same way, they have very similar facial features and they both have somewhat deeper voices.
What a distasteful opinion.

Who knew Catriona Balfe was Bajoran? 😉
Her quote about divisiveness is the best put expression of that idea that I have ever heard.
Her dress, I wonder if this was recorded at Mardi Gras time.
Beautiful woman

Wow! Suddenly fancy having a Quality Street looking at that dress🤔😳
saw Belfast on xmas day. Great movie. I recommend it
I thought it only came out yesterday the film Belfast ?XXX

I have a 4yo and a 20 month old. If she thinks a 5 month old is messy now, she's going to miss those days in a year 😆😆
My 20 month old dumped her dinner 3 times and poured out my glass of iced tea in the last 2 hours 😅😓😪

Best actress ever…
Would love to see this film sometime!
Que bella e inteligente
Wow, gorgeous 😍😍😍
A real coleen❤
I love her so much, but what is she wearing??
my thoughts exactly...
this dress was not flattering especially for her boobs; I don't think she was wearing a bra and she certainly needed one especially if she is breast feeding.
Love her; hate the dress.
Whatever the fuck she wants to.
what a cute, well, it's not like a classic beauty, but you can't take your eyes off, some kind of abyss of charm and charisma
wow
i think she was supposed to put her leg through the hole of the dress 😂😂 i love u caitriona❤️
It takes someone as gorgeous as Catriona to pull off such a dress! I love her too!
I thought it was a unique design as well. :)
PS- I'm am sorry, I forgot to say that I think that Caitriona Balfe is a proper actor, and a lovely person.
Catriona is super talented. Not a fan of Outlander, but every other project was A+.
I wonder why?
The first 3 seasons were absolutely captivating. I lost interest starting the 4th one .
@@DDR131 outlander isn't my cup of tea, but her other projects are excellent.
It's will be better, starting from season 6 although season 5 was great. I can agree season 4 may be dull for some people but you will be used to it because I have read till book 8 and it is moving in an incredible direction.
@Anand kishore for Outlander, I thought the storyline was tired and silly, but my preference is irrelevant because it's a hit 🤣
The thumbnail looked like Emilia Clarke.
Watched the movie '' I was surprised to See '' Asian people in Corner shops '' and a beautiful black lady teacher in his School '' ': Set in an era at the start of the Troubles NI??? (and before people start shouting Racist' '' 'I'm not) Don't think this is factually Correct,
part 1
Not really a big fan of that outfit, to be honest. She gave a great performance in Belfast though!
@Bleh obviously you do because you took the time to reply lol
Looks like she might have switched it up at the last minute: perhaps the gold part was supposed to go around at the thigh, in which case, I understand her balking.
She probably approved the dress but didn't try it on till she was backstage. Seems like the material is too stiff for a shift with a thigh ruffle, which would likely be a challenging silhouette for a new Mom, anyway.
I WOULD like to give her credit for
1) choosing a Bold Mardi Gras dress, During Epiphany!!!
2) wearing it the way she felt comfortable and, apparently, never giving it another thought. Well Done, Madam: you're going to be a GREAT MOM!
A model who's actually a good actor.....take note Gal Gadot.
She looks like Mardi Gras.
💜:)
She is lovely but that dress is horrendous
She looks beautiful as usual. I didn't like the dress, tough
I love her but that dress :?
Stephen called her English in the intro segment... eeeek.
She did well not to correct him but she should have .
But then again I always get called German by Amercains based off my accent .
I am from Lancashire . It got awkward wheh we were in a museum dedicated to world war ll over there .
He was referring to her character Claire
@@hannahdyson7129 As an American, I can say many Americans who never leave the country have a really hard time with placing accents. I blame Hollywood. Until recently, non-American characters either had super stereotyped accents or just a general British/London accent.
As an expat American, my mind is also blown. Those accents sound nothing alike.
He might have meant to say British and got confused. It wasn't until I met some British people that I learned there is a difference. I thought the different countries in the UK were just like our states. Thank you Indiana public school system!

This is what Jesus says, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies: and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. John 11:27,26
Actually, that was what John said that Jesus said...
It's what the Bishops said that John said that Jesus said, (that is if he said it)
WTF is she wearing?
Her Belfast accent was not good enough.
Unbelievable. I saw Belfast with my close friend who GREW UP in Northern Ireland DURING the Troubles. His Dad had been part of the IRA (who has now since passed).
Before it started, my friend wondered if it would trigger his PTSD from the trauma of growing up in a war. Instead, it was so bad we found ourselves laughing our arses off!
For anyone paying attention a majority of the main actors were played by British actors. The portrayal of these times were entirely British propaganda. The streets were clean, there was no graffiti, not a single curse word (in Ireland!). The police were NICE to the Irish, giving them rides home. They portrayed the police as KIND to the Irish. The whole thing was a load of British drivel.
Those who enjoyed the film don't know the history at al. This film does a huge disservice to the memory of those who died during the Irish Troubles.
It was written and directed by an Irishman, Kenneth Brannagh, who lived in Belfast at the start of the troubles, and was writing of his personal experience. All the leads, are Irish, except Dame Judy Dench, the grandmother. But sure...go ahead...near everything you said was inaccurate. The film wasn't meant to be about the troubles, or the IRA. It was to be about family and the sacrifices they make. That's why you missed the mark. You were looking at the wrong thing. Maybe take a moment and look up WHY the man chose to make the movie about his experiences then you call him a traitor? Aye?
@@abootlandersfoundersher1818 to add to this, Judi Dench is actually half Irish - her mother was Irish who met her father while they were studying in Dublin.
Protestants had the whip hand in "Ulster" and perhaps we should have learnt more about this in the filim.
Catholics were denied jobs, housing and dignity. The British government ignored it for far too long. Of course catholics and Protestants lived side by side to some extent before the troubles started, but not now though. Ultimately, this was a personal film about childhood and not political. Good on Ken Brannagh for showing humility and generosity to the catholics, probably upset some members of his community.
No mate. That's not what the movie was about. People who went to see a movie about hate, war, and how it ripped people apart, or a history lesson...why? What Ken managed to do was show the story through the eyes of a child. You might have noticed him. His name was Buddy. This movie wasn't a lesson about the IRA or the fighting. It was a lesson about family trying to hold onto normalcy when shit is falling on their doorstep. And how not everyone hated one another bc they sat in a different church on a Sunday. It was a film about heart. Wanting to keep your family safe. Seems some wanted a different film, and bc of that...they missed out on a beautiful piece of life that happened to the man who wrote and directed what I hope wins all the awards. Kenneth Branagh, from Belfast...who Buddy is based on. * standing O*
@@abootlandersfoundersher1818 Kenneth Branagh could have still made a film from that perspective and with "heart" as you say, but with authenticity about behaviors of the parties involved. This film is as if Minneapolis Police Department (in America, now infamous for George Floyd murder) wrote & portrayed a film about the Black Lives Matter movement. Or if early American-European settlers made a film about Native Americans. It's portrayed with the propagandistic views of the oppressor, which perhaps Kenneth Branagh has internalized from living so long in Britain and believing their lies, but it's inauthentic to the experience, even the isolated, distant perspective of a child, of those Irish Catholics who were persecuted by the Protestants & British.
Again, the film depicts scenes of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (police) HELPING the Catholic civilians - giving them friendly rides home; it doesn't matter if the story is supposed to be from the view of a child - the police DID NOT DO THIS; they were brutal and this paints them as though they were benevolent.
