So fun fact: the puppet that exploded into an entire horde was actually a glitch originally. The developer liked it, so they made it a feature.
A whole new meaning of "it's not a glitch it's a feature"
Fun fact: the puppets weren't actually meant to say that horrifying things, but the voice actors were a psychopath that actually beat up their friend and they unintentionally include those lines.

@@Jeffro104
You can always check IMDb
This game definitely follows the stereotypical "cute thing but horror" trope that's been rampant in the indie industry lately, but there's some genuine skill in how everything is presented/designed. Identifying early on that there's something lurking in the pipes for example makes the player super nervous around each one, in which the developer perfectly places a bunch of open pipes in spots you have to walk past or grab an item near. On top of that, the concept of having to tie up the puppets is basically a more active version of the Crimson Heads from Resident Evil Remake, which is brilliant. It creates a constant anxiety and stress in knowing that, if you don't tie up an enemy, you'll have to deal with them should you come back through an area. And with lots of backtracking due to puzzles, that's a constant risk the player has to balance considering the duct tape is a limited resource.
On top of the actually really strong sound design, the manic voices of the puppets, proper resource management that encourages the player to explore, and proper shooting gameplay that puts you face to face with the enemies, this could be a fantastic game if it's finished. Honestly though, it's just refreshing to have an indie horror game that isn't just walking around/hiding until a big jumpscare happens. I understand it's a popular form of gameplay in the horror genre these days, but it's nice to have a game where you actually have to fight back and manage resources to survive. It's sad that such a basic concept is pretty rare.
Yeah, this is what poppy playtime should have been, poppy playtime has easy ass puzzles and just child friendly stuff and isnt that scary while this game is kinda child friendly because its a puppet show but hides the horror clevery in both a funny and scary way that i love, hope this game becomes someting more than poppy.
I do think it should lean a bit more into the horror side. I don't think the game could really hold someone's attention for much longer than the demo without something to make the puppets and objectives a bit more engaging. Poppy Playtime has some pretty interesting ideas and engaging sections even if it's definitely designed for the RUclips hype side of things.
this is a really good analysis

Hey Mark, I just wanted to clarify what the devs meant by taking another look in the basement. In camera mode you can no clip through walls which you have shown, but you didn't notice is that some of the areas if you go outside of the map, you'll find giant versions of the puppets that hover over the rooms. Hope this helped a little, thank you :)
thank you for being the comment I was looking for
lol, 3,955 Comments as of now, and this is the only one addressing the "take another look in the basement". I thought I was gonna have to go on without knowing what it was about. Thank you.
besides the giant models of puppets, I've also found a secret mouse room with another cheat tape in it, and there's other secrets too, like hidden doors which do nothing, a giant door with a picture of someone on it, which has a key behind the giant door, that does nothing, also where the giant door with a key behind it is, there's something way in the distance behind it, but I tried travelling to it for like- 15 minutes or so, and it didn't seem to get closer, so if you have camera mode, and you know how to modify the game to let yourself go extremely fast, then go to that giant door, look behind it, you'll see what looks like about 5 pixels, fly towards those pixels, and if you get there let us know what you find.
I hope Mark plays it someday, I mean the whole game that's out now. Hope he gets the time.
