I have another suggestion: (I actually thought you had it demonstrated here :-), Get a cardboard egg carton, glue different length toilet rolls into the egg-cups, then drop dry food into the tubes. The rounded bottoms of the egg-cups make it easier for paws to scoop out the kibble. I have several of these made from plastic, but any tube that is not too deep for the cat to get it's 'arm' in will work.
Last year for Christmas I watched this video and made my cat these cat toys. She ripped the paper off the box then I open the box for her and one of your paper towel roll toys that I made she took it out first
My feral rescue loves to play with my socks, eepecially the small ankle variety. Pretty sure when she lived outdoors she had a specific method of hunting which seems to be pouncing on birds the second they land. Scurrying on the ground and waving things supended doesnt interest her anywhere near as much as tossing a sock up in the air and letting it land next to her. This is how we play. I toss a sock, she pounces on it, bites and rolls it like an alligator and then we repeat lol. Note: she was a feral cat not a stray. She has a clipper ear, the reason i took her in was because she was living in my step dads yard a couple towns away and his neighbor was a bird person and said if she catches that cat killing birds again she was gonna kill the cat. Plus this crazy bird lady was doing things to my step dads property as a way of getting back at them for feeding this poor feral kitty when she struggled in winter, blaming them for the cat making their yards her territory and killing birds. Okay, that was long winded but everyone likes to point out how my cat prolly is a stray not feral, which isnt the case. That said she is halfway to domestication, tho will always prolly be a random swatter, however with me she has stopped using claws. If eue isnt in the mood ill just get 3 tapped by yer foot par not claws
My cat absolutely loved these treat brain games! He figured them out shockingly fast, so I'll have to make a few of them a little more advanced next time haha
I use the plastic ring from a milk, juice, water or any gallon/half gallon container. both of my cats love them. It will last longer than the toilet paper ring, but I'm gonna try some of those others.
Sometimes in moments of weakness and lost in the desire to be a “good cat mom” I buy toys for my boys. Ultimately, they prefer to play with bottle caps/twist-off lids, plastic “pull-off” seals from milk jugs, balled up paper/foil, string, Emory boards and yes - TP tubes... 🤷🏼♀️
I bought a pack of hairbands and threw it on the floor my cat went crazy playing with them so wen I want a hairband to tie my hair I just go look under the sofas the fridge the coffee table the bed etc😂
Noooo!!!!😢😢😢 Those are so much easier for them to break and swallow and then you've got an emergency vet trip and hopefully they can get it out without major surgery! NEVER use hair ties as a toy because they're too great of a risk that thei find one when you're gone and you come back to a dead cat because it choked to death.
Oh yes, some of the best toys are free. My two cats Tigger & Simba loved rolled up wrappers that made a crinkle sound that I called wrapper bugs. They loved chasing them as I tossed them down the hallway. And, they would retrieve them.
While cats definitely love cardboard and my rescue feral kitty loves nothing more than to evisceeate it with her claws i seriously doubt its because it was made from trees lolol. Its much more likely that its the perfect amount of resistence to get satisfaction from a nice deep scratch into it. Its about how it feels to them not because its familiar to them because its a tree product. 🤯 Regardless, nice cat toy idea
Hello, I'm looking for some ideas for a non-food focused cat that is smart and gets bored easily. We have a trash bin for him that rolls and we put it on the side and hide toys in. It's a game where he has learned a few ways to get the toys out. He likes to go outside on a leash but it's winter and too cold now as his fur is thin and he gets cold fast even with a coat.
Hi Barbara, Did you try the other TP roll toys in the video? Not all of them are food-related. I have article guides on how to get cats to play and which toys are best. Check these out: www.caticles.com/get-my-cat-to-play/ www.caticles.com/eco-friendly-lazy-cat-toys-to-get-your-cat-to-play/ You can also check out my guide on how to challenge cats: www.caticles.com/challenge-your-cat/ Cats should love their food! I'd recommend upgrading his food too. Check out my playlists on how to read cat food labels so you can find something more suitable for him: ruclips.net/video/3TfenJ7op0U/видео.html Additionally, my next series here on youtube will be all about how to play with cats. Stay tuned!
@@jesscaticles Thanks Jess. He's on a specific diet for allergies, unfortunately. Though I was able to suppliment some raw diet suggestions in. He loves his wet food, which is less suitable for playtime or being left out. He doesn't like the freeze dried treats. Aside from that he just got used to being hungry outside (before adoption), so he's not food focused. If he gets distracted, he runs off and comes back later, sometimes 30 minutes. We ended up getting another cat, and now he plays with both the other cat and us. He's much happier now that he always has someone to play with because we have three cats in total. The vet suspects he has 1/2 Siamese.
@@jesscaticles Its going so well.. Selene loves the toilet paper cat nip one and the one with tassels. She can't do the treat one as she has some inlamatory bowel condition which means no treats. Very rubbish but a great success with the others. Thanks Jess, really great to get these tips.
Great video! , I’m making a plush toy for one of my cats but I’m wondering if it’s safe to use a hot glue gun to stick the eyeballs together , any recommendations on what glue i could use that is safe for pets?
Paper is also “made from trees” but is no where near as popular as cardboard, specially in box form. I just told the wife we need to get some box’s together and make a cat castle lol.
Hi Sara, I get the catnip from a business called Purrfect Play. I highly recommend their cat toys as well. My cat loves them! There's a link in the description (:

Nice idea, and you need a cat 🤣
Thank you! And yes, the most important ingredient lol!

Yea it seems like cats always want to play with random scraps. Sometimes Jericho will find a twistie tie and go nuts!

This is such a good idea I love it!! So cheap too thank you 😊

My cat will spend 45 minutes running around and playing with a straw.
what happens if your cat wants to eat the string

Where did you get your cat tree?
The grey one is from amazon. Very basic! lol I have everything listed here: www.caticles.com/cat-supplies/#Enrichment
Nice
❤ use paper towel 🧻 rolls cleaner
Toilet paper and paper towel rolls usually have glue on them. Probably not a good idea to have cats chewing on them.
Hey there I'm a new subscriber
Hi Sarah, thank you and welcome!
my 10$ toy mice are saying WHAT?!
LOL!! Well good quality mice toys are the most ideal. But these TP toys are great to get cats interested in playing again.
I think, those are just for you to entertatin, not for your cat.
