I love your commentary. Its just puts it all into perspective on what you are doing and why. Gotta say that the saran wrap is really good idea, works like a charm.
I've watched many different people do this job, and you are by far the best. Thank you for all the information as you work, it is really interesting (and back-breaking)!
When you said WD40 I went 😳😳😳. I’m so glad that horse and farrier didn’t have any lasting damage! I really liked the part when you fixed the crack and used the Saran Wrap.
I’m from N.Ireland and I love watching the videos Caleb is really good at narrating what he’s doing watched other Farrier videos and they never even speak
I’ve never even so much as sat on a horse! 😂 I now know more about horse’s hooves than I will ever need to know, and more than I ever thought I wanted to know. It’s fascinating though, very informative videos, thank you. And he is a beautiful horse ☺️
I love your videos and ofc would love more stories, explanations, seeing a horse that requires corrective shoes travel before and after etc. Your poor hands get a lot of abuse. Keep doing what you’re doing. Ppl in your location are blessed to have a farrier like you. ❤
Caleb, I love the idea of a video where you are talking with your clients about books and everything. And we have 5 of those hoof stands in our barn right now, and we are going to be ordering more on your recommendation of them. They save our backs so much for the older riding clients taking lessons. They absolutely LOVE them when they have to groom their horses before a lesson. Our CJF uses one as well, and as our horses are horses are used to them, there is no fight in getting them to use them for him. Even the pregnant mares find it easier to have their feet cleaned out with these stands. As they get further along in their pregnancies, they find it harder and harder to balance on 3 legs for the farrier, but with these stands, it's no issue at all!! Thank you for recommending them!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
Use 3crosses coupon code for a discount im glad that they're working so well for you.🙂 i Enjoy your comments its one of the things I enjoy about social media is getting to know others in the horse world. Thank you for all the support 🙂
@@caleberickson_The_Dying_BreedI will tell the barn owner to do that when she places her next order for the other 5. Thank you, Caleb!!! Your friend the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖
Unfortunately I don't know anything about what you do, but, your commentary is absolutely fantastic, it is so interesting to hear what you do. I'm actually learning a lot of the hoof lingo, LOL. Australia.
It seems that the origin of the frog is in superstition. People used to carry a frog's pelvic bone for good luck, and it looks like the hoof cushion (frog). Your commentary is so on point.
I enjoy your videos so much Caleb, your voice is so easy to listen too, you take us through step by step, explaining as you go, Magic is such a stunning horse, thank you so much Caleb, and take care.👍💙🐎
Have you ever tried to drive your nails with a composite hammer on horses with sore hawks? It seems to help a little bit with the vibration that goes up their legs
I’m a new subscriber to your channel I have always been interested in farrier work my uncle did this when I was growing up every summer I would go stay at my great aunts house and he would shoe race horses cause they had a lot of horses too.
An equine vet once told my farrier off for rasping the surface wall of the hoof . He said the outer wall was like our skin and weatherproofs the hoof. All farriers seem to take this layer off .do you have a reason to do this ?
@caleberickson3-crossesfarrier actually, I ran a business that required keeping over 2,000 skus in stock at all times, even though they were sourced over many countries and in some cases had up to 6 month lead times. So, tell me again about how hard it is to keep a few different types of nails in stock.
In French, the frog is called "Fourchette" (aka fork in English) I do not not know why neither. They told us that it was because of the pointy form, but it could have been the Triangle or other obvious name, so... I do not know neither why. 😅
Caleb: To answer a question I get on almost every video, somebody asks why do they call it the frog... Caleb: 15 seconds explaining that he doesn't know... and tells us to google it. Me: 10 sec.. "hey google why is part of the horses hoof called a frog..."
Enjoy your stories and explanations 😊

This was fascinating thank you, I’ve heard of a lot of uses for WD40 but never would have thought of that!

Beautiful job
Hi, I love watching your videos, and on this one you completely described hot shoeing thank you. Lynn75 in Missouri 😂 11:09
Just like magic😊
Love the stories.
really nice job
I would love whatever information or stories you’re willing to share.
Would using a polyethylene hammer help with the vibrations up his hocks? 😊
Can the horse feel the heat from a glowing shoe when you fit it?
Is the frog heat sensitive?
It appears that the hot shoe is touching the frog. ???
What type of injury did you have on your left wrist.
An equine vet once told my farrier off for rasping the surface wall of the hoof . He said the outer wall was like our skin and weatherproofs the hoof. All farriers seem to take this layer off .do you have a reason to do this ?
i wouldn't think that it would be that difficult to keep the correct style of nails in stock at any given time.
I can tell you have no clue what it's like to be a farrier or run a business
