@@CJCorlis Me and two buddies are hitting the Russian Saturday so we're doing some research and making a plan. About how early would you say we need to get there for a spot in the lot?
Also any recommendations on processing places? Our job is ending here soon and only have another week or two of being here so we're hoping we can get them to a place to get processed and shipped out in time.
@@braydonduncan5212 I would start fishing real early or late evening. Getting a spot should not be difficult. Fish are plentiful in the whole Kenai system now. I’m flying back in Sunday morning.
Went salmon fishing for the first time a couple years in AK, only caught one but what an experience!! Also, is snagging legal? I feel like I read mixed things
Snagging is legal in the salt water only. You aren't supposed to snag in fresh water. I commented in the video when I had caught one very near the mouth but not in the mouth that I could probably get away with it. I don't think anyone would hassle you if you kept a Sockeye Salmon that was hooked anywhere in the head.
Going up in a week can't wait.
Unfortunately, this run will be mostly over in a week.
Where’d you park and enter the river if you don’t mind sharing?
Pink Salmon. If the fish are there, you'll catch them almost anywhere though.

Someday maybe. Sockeye don't do well for catch and release fishing.
I have never heard that. That would be unfortunate as so many are caught and released every year.
