Great video James. Its been said many times: you have more fun driving a slow(er) car fast, than a fast car slow. And to enjoy the GT2 RS in public roads, you either go to an Autobahn or you loose your driving license and end up in jail. Thats why I love my Golf GTI so much.
The sheer durability of these top spec Porsches put them in a class of their own. You can thrape them all day on a track and then drive it to work next day without so much as a hiccup. Try that in an Aston (and I have with mine) and something will break.

James, thank you so much for another great review! I get your point about performance being too much for a braid window of smiles. As an aside, I believe you may have meant extract rather than extrapolate. Keep them coming James, always a joy.
Mr JWW basically explaining all the selling points of having a GT3 manual over a GT2 RS. Still a incredible car but in these days of overly engineered road cars the GT3 with its screaming NA 6 more engaging manual transmission and slightly less actual usable performance gets my vote all day. Plus the 100k savings and it’s a bargain! Can someone loan me $200k please?
So as an owner of a GT2RS and GT3RS I am not biased when it comes to my opinion on this. I think the GT2 RS sound is good, not great but it's not bad, you need to be driving in the 4k-7k RPM's for the good sound. It's a deep bass rumbling sound where as the GT3RS is a high pitch screaming sound. I still feel like the GT2RS is more fun because the torque and power is addicting and after driving it the GT3RS seems slow. Both great cars though!

First view of this channel and a new subscription it is! You said exactly what I’ve been saying for some years now, but I’d paint it out with a broader brush: new sports cars are too good to be enjoyed properly on public roads. Not just the GT2RS. Let’s widen that to all post 996, maybe 997.1 are just so damned capable and packed with electronic trickery (read PDK) that they don’t give you the enjoyment you’re looking for without sending you behind bars, if enjoyed on public roads. Currently I’m on my 7th and 8th Porsche 911, and I must say no 1 (964C4) and 5 (964C2cab) were the best ones so far as to driver enjoyment comes, due to manual gears and no turbo engine. Of the newer stuff I think the manual Carrera T with it’s NA-like engine, stripped cabin, sort of little electronics and reduced sound deadening is more to the point of enjoyment rather than a GT3RS or GT2RS. AND you can seat the whole family on your fun drives. The best 911 so far is the manual, 4 seated, Carrera T.
Agree on the Exige , had the S1 with performance pack, which if I remember correctly had 196 bhp, very light , great for the track, think it produced 8Okg of down force back then, did quite a few track days in this car, was quicker than most cars on track at that time , due to its power to weight ratio.
I'm super curious how this would compare to the 997 GT2 RS with the manual. Still wont have the sound, but it's not quite as ape shit fast to be unusable it would seem.

100% agree, the GT2 RS is one of the best ever made but on public roads it’s got too much power and not enough noise and in order to grin from ear to ear you have to be absolutely flat chat which you just can’t do safely on public tarmac. Where as a 430 Scuderia is still a good handling car and an amazing sounding car you could drive that on the same public roads and flex your smile glands the entire time you may not be going that fast but you sound like you are and your Revving it out and changing gears and you’re more engaged and experiencing more of what the cars capable of doing.
Do you buy a car just on looks, surely not ? Yes it’s important, but for me it’s how the car actually performs , the braking , handling , how the car puts the power down etc etc Chris Harris choose the 600LT over the Pista on top gear , based on the above reasons.
@@brentpowell7889 Lets not talk bullshit to ourselves, looks it's an important thing when you choose a car, the Mclaren Senna it's the best super/hypercar today but it's not that beautiful and for this reason when it was launched very few people keep their reservation spot. The Lamborghini Aventador sold like crazy for its amazing design (and orgasmic sound), the driving part is "meh", especially the gearbox. The 2RS is a great car too but, to me, it is too similar to the 3Rs; the Pista has a completely different rear than the 488gtb and big differences on the front. Ofcourse the driving is the most important thing and everyone has its taste on how a car should behave on street and on track. I choose what I like, not what other people like and think :)
Andre Tennis chill , not sure why you are getting aggressive, was just making a point that’s all , I think you agree , your last comment seems to suggest that, pick drive what you want.
Dear James, thanks a lot for the video!! Amazing!! What about 2 modern classic videos(old mazda MX5 miata and mazda RX8) for young guys that want to approach good rear wheel drive cars?? byyyyyye
I wonder what you consider to be the right balance of power vs usability? It can really only be around 300bhp maximum, depending on weight, gearing etc in my opinion
I think up to 450-500 hp is the upper limit. For example a 911 turbo is just a tad over that limit. And it is a fun car, but it's an actual rocket on the street....
Although it is difficult (if not almost impossible) to enjoy the monumental power that these cars possess, on tight and twisty welsh roads, it is the handling and chassis dynamics that can still be enjoyed at the national speed limit.
On wider roads like in Germany (or even US/Dubai where most of these cars are) the GT2 RS will most likely work a lot better than on your tiny British B roads.
no way. This car is too much for the road... you'll be going 100mph+ before you know it and never get close to its handling limits. Maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere with no police
I have to agree with you and thought the same for some time. Super cars, or dream cars, are just getting faster and faster and their potential cannot be used on the public roads. Lots of you tuber channels have said this and also that in the wet they are potentially lethal. Once you reach the national speed limit in under 4 seconds, then what do you do. I know they are desirable to own and there will always be a market for them but they are almost becoming works of art. Pleasurable to own and wonderful to look at. The latest Lotus is boasting 2000 horse power. Track use only I think.

The GT3RS is much easier to enjoy, and you don't need to drive as fast to get the fun out of it as you would need to on the GT2RS. I really needed to hear that.
The torque that this monster provides would make the experience enjoyable for me. I get the sound concern but in my opinion every engine has it’s own sound characteristics. Personally wouldn’t want to daily drive/use a gt3. The gt2rs engine sound just hints to the monster power that is under your right foot. The only thing missing from the sound is the hissing of turbochargers (think Huayra/Veyron or any modified big turbo car) and it would be perfect.
Awesome Content as always James🙂👍🏻 The GT2RS is one you hear so often as a 'Holy Grail' car, But as you're Finding out/Proving, is it Really needed? I had a .2 3RS and it lacked power and took forever to get to 9K rpms. The .2 2RS is way better and love all the torque. Regarding sound, if you engage sport PDK + exhaust it sounds great, at least to me.
I'm seeing this video in 2021....and i absolutely agree with you! This car, as the Pista, are really.....TOO FAST to enjoy them! I prefer the GT3 to have more connection, more feedback.

@@brentpowell7889 I'm totally calm and relax, I just explained my opinion on the argument :)
I'd take neither. GT3 or 600LT are better to me by a long shot. Not for the looks but for the driving. 😁
Dear James, thanks a lot for the video!! Amazing!! What about 2 modern classic videos(old mazda MX5 miata and mazda RX8) for young guys that want to approach good rear wheel drive cars?? byyyyyye
Don't forget the 986 Boxster.... 😊
Gorgeous Porsche GT2 RS!!!
Great content as always
I wonder what you consider to be the right balance of power vs usability? It can really only be around 300bhp maximum, depending on weight, gearing etc in my opinion
I think up to 450-500 hp is the upper limit. For example a 911 turbo is just a tad over that limit. And it is a fun car, but it's an actual rocket on the street....
That 600 LT license plate is a winner
Although it is difficult (if not almost impossible) to enjoy the monumental power that these cars possess, on tight and twisty welsh roads, it is the handling and chassis dynamics that can still be enjoyed at the national speed limit.
interesting points made of the GT2RS, makes valid sense you can’t enjoy it as you might think you could.
a blessed greetings , will you be reviewing corvette c8 soon,,
Oh shit saw all these cars on a Welsh mountain roads and almost screamed on my way back from mountain biking.
Totally agree. GT3 FTW
On wider roads like in Germany (or even US/Dubai where most of these cars are) the GT2 RS will most likely work a lot better than on your tiny British B roads.
RaydenSun Exactly
no way. This car is too much for the road... you'll be going 100mph+ before you know it and never get close to its handling limits. Maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere with no police
This GT2 RS + GT3 Touring= Perfect 2 car garage
I have to agree with you and thought the same for some time. Super cars, or dream cars, are just getting faster and faster and their potential cannot be used on the public roads. Lots of you tuber channels have said this and also that in the wet they are potentially lethal. Once you reach the national speed limit in under 4 seconds, then what do you do. I know they are desirable to own and there will always be a market for them but they are almost becoming works of art. Pleasurable to own and wonderful to look at. The latest Lotus is boasting 2000 horse power. Track use only I think.
Though for a while gt3 is sweet spot for 911. Can go bright 'supercar' spec or more subtle 'gt' spec and it seems to excel at both.
Sounds like Jeff stelling is driving Haha. Brilliant video, keep up the good content!
This added a more of a fun factor to my Saturday!
That Pista spec is so sick
Was the Guards Red GT2 RS not there that day? I see it regularly at meets near me.
Love it thank you!
I don't think you're using the word extrapolate quite right for what you wanted to say.
Doesn't matter though. :)
Great video as usual.
Nicely said James, glad to hear it, all doubters saying your are paid for positive review from Porche can shut mouth now 🙂👍
Really warmed up to these 600LTs. Menacing
Cant wait to see your gt3 again.
Very good Mr.James^^
Great vid would love to see you expand your vids to include watches!!

The GT3RS is much easier to enjoy, and you don't need to drive as fast to get the fun out of it as you would need to on the GT2RS.
I really needed to hear that.
Love the video's ceep it up. The hat whats the brand of that love the logo thanks
Great. I wanna see that Porsche rolling.
Love your contents
Jww is a genius!
I'm here for the music...and cars.
Awesome Content as always James🙂👍🏻
The GT2RS is one you hear so often as a 'Holy Grail' car,
But as you're Finding out/Proving, is it Really needed?
Especially when you want to use it in a 'Real World' setting 😉👍🏻
It's perhaps just Too raw and powerful for it's own good, Undoubtedly Amazing on Track,
But just doesn't give you the driveability you'd expect in everyday blasts,
Anyway, looking forward to the rest of the videos (as always)
And look forward to your Honest review of the car 🙂👍🏻
Stay safe,
All the best,
Mark 👍🏻
I had a .2 3RS and it lacked power and took forever to get to 9K rpms. The .2 2RS is way better and love all the torque. Regarding sound, if you engage sport PDK + exhaust it sounds great, at least to me.
Awesome video... Okay, Mr. JWW, of all the G.T. cars you've driven. And you can only have one G.T. Car. Which one would be your pick?
Thanks Bro!
Would you buy one or recommend it
I'm seeing this video in 2021....and i absolutely agree with you! This car, as the Pista, are really.....TOO FAST to enjoy them! I prefer the GT3 to have more connection, more feedback.
