Fantastic video! Love your method, how you explain steps that are coming, why it's done that way, then do it. Then you include shots of the belt routing diagram and other helpful reference info that applies the the job. Great stuff! Will help my friend with his 2014 Malibu 2.5 if his leak is the water pump. It broke down an hour away so we still need to go diagnose it.
Happy holidays to you and yours! I can't thank you, enjoy, for this awesome video and tutorial. I had a big chain auto repair shop, wanting to charge me $2,000 plus, saying I needed a new radiator and other costly things. It didn't sit right with me. I found your video, and I felt empowered and educated enough. To take my vehicle elsewhere and speak intelligently to what I felt my issue was. It was the water pump! Indeed! If you don't hear it enough? You are truly appreciated! Thank you infinitely!
Thanks for the video. I have the same 2014 Malibu and I thought it was going to be a lot harder, but after watching your video. I should be able to do it in a lot shorter time. Thanks again!
Did that fix it? I've been leaking coolant on the passenger side for about 2 weeks. Replaced the radiator, and the coolant reservoir tank and it's still leaking.
Hey man cool vid. Quick question, how far would it be okay to drive without the heat shield? It got late so were finishin the pump tonight but im wondering if i do short trips until then if itll he ok
@@kimanicollier The pump installed was without the housing. To replace the pump with the housing a lot more components and gaskets would need to be removed and replaced. I have links in the description for parts and tools used for this repair. Hopefully that's helpful 🙂
Yes, the 2.0 is the same process and setup. Let's simplify that bleeding "burping" process on the coolant. You don't lose a ton of coolant on that job. Once everything is buttoned back up, crank the engine and let it idle until the temp gauge goes up close to operating level. Cut it off, let it cool off, then take top off and finish filling up with coolant.
But the procedure at the bottom is weird you say at the point of J: install pressure cap fully threaded on then k: fill the coolant recovery bottle to indicator line then add 400ml more . I’m lost there lol. I think you meant to put that before step J: ??
@@gmstezzy The customer didn't mention any overheating. But that's definitely something that can happen. If the pump isn't circulating as well as it should or if the coolant leaks all out.
You can start by taking off the serpentine belt. Turn each pulley, they should turn smooth without any play in them. Replace the belt and see if the squeak goes away.
Helps me none. Mine is a 13' and there are no videos on that year which has the water pump buried down in the back bottom of the engine at the firewall. FML.
Your bleeding of air “process is messed up” and it don’t work . I have done it 7 times and still have air in the system . Also ur steps are messed up on the bottom . You say out cap on tightly then fill up coolant and add 400ml more , rite after you said tighten fill cap all the way lol, anyways otherwise thanks for a decent video otherwise ,
Haha good catch! The printed out instruction page is a snapshot of the manual. I didn't write it. I believe step J and K are if your system has a separate overflow bottle 🤔? Is your car overheating?
Swap steps J and K. I did it roughly the same way and added a 10 minute drive instead of steps L and M. After it cooled off a final top off did the trick.
Was going to pay someone but that's easy. Wish you showed how to actually take belt off. But I got the basics. THANK YOU! I SUB'D
Man those power tools sure come in handy.
Great video! Thanks for the help and video. I will change mine tomorrow because it's leaking. Thanks again.
Great job. Great instruction and explanation. Five stars.

Thanks for share the video thats helps a lot
Thank you. I thought that the 2.5L was like the 2.4L and the water pump was in a bad location, but I might consider a GM vehicle with this engine.
Great video but I wish you showed how you got the belt off/on
Great video thanks

Very good video. Easy to follow and understand.
That is te best explained and clearly video i ever watch thanks for share It whit us
Que video tan bueno
THAT'S how you do it!!
How did you get that belt back on???
Taking the passenger tire off will give you better access to all the pulleys for routing.
Good video. But you didn't mention how long it would take for a decent macanic

You need to do it through the wheel well per the manual and my own
xperience.
Any videos on how to remove the belt exactly
What size socket and extension
Thank you kindly
You're welcome 👊
Right on, just what i was looking for. Very well explained, clear diy video, liked and subscribed.

Do you have a video of bleeding the coolant system
The bleeding procedure on this car is super easy. At the end of this video I run down the procedure. 👍

@@mjfolater314Correct, swap J and K.
I noticed on my malibu the weep hole is on top? Kinda weird
What was the car doing for you to replace the pump ?
This was leaking quite a bit of coolant out of the pump.
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive was it over heating at all ?

How do I know the water pump isn’t working there’s a squeaking noise by the water pump but not leaking so I need to replace it?

It's best to change the thermostat as well 😅
