Thank you black Harvard students for collectively speaking for me right now. These are many of my thoughts as well. One, because I recently graduated from a PWI and understand this experience (to an extent because I will say that my university really did hold many spaces for blacks and other cultures on campus, as well as hold different events that uplift many races of color). But 2, I work at a hospital with predominantly white staff and I see the health disparities among black people present in even my own space. So our ally’s within these spaces are absolutely a piece of the puzzle that can help our black lives matter. I really enjoyed this video, thank you Christine for creating this collage of conversation and continuing the conversation.

That is how you broaden your mind’s view. I can only hope that the diction that you’ve used has come from a place of hyperbole. Because what is truly scary is that there are people like you who exist in very vulnerable positions for people, such as hospitals and clinics, and they are caring for populations that they don’t understand nor attempt to understand, such as the black community. Thankfully for me, I have learned that not all white people are the same. I’ve had experiences that have shown me that the good and the evil can exist within any person, despite their race or ethnicity. And for these reasons, I don’t hold any of your viewpoints against you. Ignorance is bliss. How can you know what you don’t understand? Continue to ask questions, and your perspective will grow.

Jeffrey Jerez I’m Brazilian too and can say that has a lot to do with the systemic racism embedded into our society. Many black people have dreams of being in the medical field but can’t because they are socioeconomically disadvantaged and, in many cases, very poor. Brazil was the last country in the world to abolish slavery, which hindered the development of the black community here, meaning many people are now struggling. People of color are unfortunately at a disadvantage and that will only change when we fully combat systemic racism.
It was so great to see this! I loved it. In my college we sadly don’t have a huge black community and I think about it daily. Thank you for amplifying their voices! 🖤

As a very strong counter to the sentiment expressed in this video I would listen to Black voices like Coleman Hughes, Glenn Loury, John McWhorter, Monique Duson, Kmele Foster, Thomas Chatterton Williams, and Chloe Valdary.
Shouldn’t be too hard for you… you will get in for simply being black nothing else… black students grades are far worse than every other race at Harvard, yet still get accepted at 15% when it should be about 1% based on their actual performances

Eloquence of speech is something to aspire to. Not many possess this gift. It is sad that everything is now seen as a "micro agression".
I believe well-spoken was used not eloquent and I do agree with your definition of eloquence in poetry and writing but back to my statement yes it can be offensive to a woman of color I use to think it was a compliment until I was caught off guard by the commenters casual explanation of why he complimented me on being well spoken, he said that he hired me because I spoke better than other Blacks and I was not a dark skinned Black woman I asked him did he realize that my ancestors were forced to learn a new language and dialect therefore passing down to their children a broken and mispronounced version of English he was very apologetic and we both learned a valuable lesson that day I no longer accept it as a compliment

I understand that being white I do not and cannot understand your experiences. I apologise if I came across as insensitive. I know it is not the same but I am Irish and we were also banned from speaking our own language when the English colonised our country 800 years ago. To this day we have still not forgiven them. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavours.

Always be proud of your ancestry the good and try to change what’s negative. Race should never be an issue in an individual’s treatment but unfortunately it is and it’s up to the individual to disprove stereotypes because not all are rooted in racism and educating individuals on their stereotypes including an individual’s own stereotypes can help bridge the gap between the cultures
