    The tensioner has a .125 hole you can stick a small screwdriver or pin into to lock it open.

    I have a 2008 XC90 3.2 and my compressor is good, but the bearing on my A/C clutch has gone bad. Everything works well but it wobbles and vibrates. No leaks on system and clutch engages and disengages. I have found parts kits with the clutch, bearing pressed in already, and the hardware. Is it possible to replace the Clutch/Bearing assembly with it still installed? Any advice would help as a $100 Clutch assembly is within budget and skillset, but a full compressor is way too much and I can't find any info on the pressurized system to know if I could work on that safely. I can't seem to find anyone showing how to do it even though I have found a couple people on forums who have successfully done it without issue. I'm just trying to get my only vehicle back on the road for another year or two at least. I hope my description is good and you are willing to point me in the right direction. If it can't shouldn't be done then I understand, but can't really get more $ to throw at it without a car.

      @@JerkofAllTradesTLH Mine doesn't cool quickly. Do you think that's compressor? Or maybe expansion valve? It's a 2009 XC90 3.2. It still holds a charge. I notice a weird sound that repeats every 3-5 seconds where it sounds like it's compressing and then releasing over and over again. LIke a long 3 second ramp up and then sudden release

    Hi, mine 2011 xc90 takes more time to cool inside, pressure gauge shows normal, low pressure line very cold and sweating, my compressor replced before two year, can you please advice? If possible please provide exact partnumber of valeo compressor for 7 seater xc90. Am afraid that the previous mech fixed any other cars i mean s60 or v70 compressor on it?

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  Год назад

      Compressors are the same. You have a bigger cabin, and XC90's are notorious for low air pressure. Sounds normal to me. Change your cabin filter.

      yup compressor are the same, just different pre filled oil volume

    I have a 2008 XC90. I was told that the compressor is going bad. Do you have to put pag oil to fill the compressor?

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  2 года назад

      Most compressors will come pre-filled. I verify by draining and refilling each time I do these jobs.

    Wheres the cheapest place to get a new conpressor, i like to tackle this next weekend. My mechanic said a new ones like 600 bux! A google search shows several for around 300?! U use a new oem?

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  3 года назад

      Only use OEM compressors. There's two different types, Sanden and Valeo. You have to determine which you have, then order the correct one.

    Thanks for the video. My XC has about 100k miles and theres quite a bit of reddish/brown dust coming from the compressor area. Do you know what this could be?

    Don't you flush the A/C pipes when replacing your compressor?

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  2 года назад

      only if the compressor fails internally, the clutch failed on this one.

    • @MrSmithies999
      @MrSmithies999 Год назад

      @@JerkofAllTradesTLH how do you know the clutch failed on the compressor? I've seen other vids where they're able to manually move the belt in one direction but not the other. On my xc90 I can't manually move the belt in either direction. Is that an indication the clutch has failed on the compressor?

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  Год назад

      @@MrSmithies999 That actually has nothing to do with the compressor. It's called the auxiliary shaft clutch. It's next to the compressor bracket, if you sight down your belt without the intake tube on, you'll see it. It's not a fun job.

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  2 года назад

      The tensioner is behind the compressor, if you look at a serp belt diagram you'll see. I use a short 19mm wrench, and stick a pin into the hole to lock the tensioner down.
