Traffic with Steve Winwood were so talented and full of energy. A great band.
Traffic was a band that wasn't looking for the popular vote, they made and played music as they heard it in their souls. Honest, adventurous, daring, talented and gifted.
"Shootout at the Fantasy Factory" has a great selection of tracks in which "Roll Right Stones" is my personal favorite from this album. I'm pleased that you appreciated this great tune my brother! I'll definitely feed you some more Traffic in the future!✌️🤘✌️
Hey Brother. Love this album. The guitar tone on the song "Shootout..." is something I've tried to emulate. Pretty tough, but just loved it the first time I heard it when my friend got the album in '72 or '73. Am a huge Traffic fan. Have a great Christmas. Peace.
One of my favorite Traffic songs!!! So excited to see your reaction to this! "Tragic Magic" from this same album is a funky masterpiece....
Never had this album so I wasn't familiar with this song. Very enjoyable! Thanks Nick and Eric!
🎵❤️🎵
This song and the title track (which you played on the first Traffic marathon) were from the album Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory. Another great one from that album is Evening Blue. Great great band with excellent musicians and of course fronted by the incredible Steve Winwood. Great reaction Nick!
Love Traffic! Favorite Traffic song is Many a Mile to Freedom.
Many A Mile has been getting a daily listen from me for the past week now. My day ain't right without it.
Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory was recorded with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section
Hi Nick, Great to hear Steve Winwood again, and a good old lengthy track to get into. Considering the 60's had so much short 2 - 3 minute songs and then the 70's arrived and Prog Rock hit us between the eyes with much longer tracks on record. No surprise after Woodstock with live performance tracks lasting so long with many artists, it didn't take much for someone to say ... Lets do this in the studio. Then there were those artists ahead of their time like Jim Hendrix.... and even Marc Bolan wrote an 8min 50 sec version of his 1st ever single lasting 2 minutes in 1965 .. "The Wizard" which appears in full on the 1st T.Rex album in 1970. He could have put it on any Tyranosaurus Rex album releases earlier but people maybe he thought were not ready for it. The 1st super long guitar solo I ever heard, was by Marc Bolan on Tyranosaurus Rex album "A Beard of Stars" called "Elemental Child". Going through the 60's music scene into the 70's was amazing. So much original talent was breathtaking. You didn't need social media or talent tv programmes with tone deaf judges who chose by appearance mostly to get instant fame. You had people carrying albums under their arms going to friends homes where groups of us gathered. That's how I discovered Pink Floyd's album "Meddle". I keep imagining artists like David Bowie going on the X. Factor and Simon Cowell buzzing him off stage and disheartened, never went on to such greatness. [ Simon was not around then ...Oh what a relief ! ] Lol .... I've gone off tilt again haven't I ? ... Traffic ? .. Great reaction to a great track, thankyou. Byee Jim X
Great track -- one of my favorites by Traffic. It has a constant, unchanging theme, which conjours a mesmerizing effect. Another Traffic song with the same effect is "Dream Gerrard" from their final album When The Eagle Flies (1974).
Can't go wrong with Traffic, one of my favorite bands since discovering them in the early 70's. I used to burn Traffic CDs to play in my car on long drives. Trying to figure out which songs from which albums to include, while using as close to all the CD capacity, was nearly impossible, with far too much good stuff to choose from.
Traffic! Amazing band!
I haven't listened to much music by Traffic, but the little that I've heard is really good.
Love Traffic and this song. Please also do "Memories of a Rock N Rolla."
Took me a while to realize that I was hearing a sax being played through a wah wah, like in the 1970 Zappa song "Chunga's Revenge". I looked it up, and the Roll Right Stones are these Bronze Age stone monuments in Britain. Like in the Blind Faith song "Sea of Joy", Winwood seems to be referring to the third eye chakra, talking about the space between his eyes, this time in relation to the process of dying.
A nod is as good as a wink... ... to a blind horse,
so I thank you for mentioning the Master himself,
but you won't achieve anything, because he is Nick,
this deaf, dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball
but that's the end of the story.
Hi from Berlin, Germany
Never heard this before, but then again . I only had two albums by Traffic. Can't go wrong with Steve Winwood !
❤❤. Lots of new immigrants arriving at the Denver coliseum as this storm hits!
Might he a great video to go talk to some of them, and share the holiday love! ❤❤
How bout Traffics Rockin Roll Stew! Great song.
Thank you! I'm 68 and they never grow old to me. Winwood was just getting started.
Colours músic rock, jazz, salsa, gospel This real músic to progress
Traffic "On The Road" = a live recording that showcases their improvisational chops .
Nice!!
Another song I forgot about, that reminds me of “Imperial Drag “ in some places… and another dozen great bands at others! 👍❤️
I have most of their albums on vinyl, but this is one, for some odd reason, that I do not have.
I got to fix that!!!
That percolating percussion is just irresistible! Everything else is icing, except perhaps Steve Winwood's vocals. 😊 🎤🎸🎹🎷🪘🥁
The title track is the tune off this album. Rocks!
Man that was such a quick jump from 50.8k to 51k Bravo to NicknLex!!!
The Sax in 'Low Spark of High Heeled Boys' will fry your Brain....=))
Traffic has their own sound and the Eagles never sounded as good as this.
Title song "Shoot out the Fatancy Factory, the best
You guy,s do yourself a favor and do a two fer for me/ Earth Wind and Fire/ Mighty Mighty/ and Jupiter/ Funkeeereeee/ Gracias!
Really the only great track post Barleycorn, especially for an Oxford boy.
This is a real nice piece of music and just like Nick I really loved the rhythm section. But I also have to admit, that Steve Winwood is not among my favourite singers, there's something in his voice, that others will love him for, and I have to say, that the young Steve sounds ok for me, but the older he got, the less I liked his voice ... sorry Winwood fans😔
great folk rock band saw them live once or twice
Great song and album! It's about a place in the UK. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollright_Stones
