RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.

Pat composed ALL of the music on this album 'Secret Story'. It was his entire baby. He was not even 40. It is a Masterpiece. Genius. I have always said that if this was the only song Pat ever composed he would be considered a genius. So incredibly complex and beautiful. The more you dig into Pat the more you and your listeners will be simply amazed. He has been composing and playing for 45 years! THANK YOU for sharing his genius with your audience!! You two are really sharing the miracle of what music is.
👍🏽
You will like this story. Yes, it is a masterpiece, so I purchased my first tickets from a scalper so I could get really close when Pat played in Hollywood at the Pantages theater. 2nd row. I think some of Pat's close family was in the first row in front of me. So another guy in the first row is super fidgety. Talking to his friends constantly before the show starts. I'm starting to dread what's coming next. It starts and this jerk is still bopping around, and now he's getting the attention from the band members. Steve Rodby is looking like he's going to come down and beat the guy. Then he LIGHTS UP A CIGARETTE. BOOM! Security comes over and yanks the guy out of his seat. His friends looked relieved. He never came back. Concert saved!
Secret Story is a complete masterpiece.
This was not the PMG, but a more personal set of tunes Pat wanted to put out with other players.
Finding and Believing is an amazing trip!
Wife and i were at the 1993 Paramount Theater show. 4th row center. A young couple sit to my right. They won tickets from a radio station. Guy h a d heard a couple tunes, girl had no idea what this would be like.
Their eyes were wide, their minds were blown!
At one break, the guy asks "how long has this guy been around? Is all his stuff like this?!"
When they played F&B, the girl looked scared!
At the second break, where the music softens, she grabs my arm... then retracts and says "Sorry!". Its ok, you ok? "OMG! This is a spiritual experience!"
I replied, "thats exactly what this is. "
Metheny''s music is extraordinary! Soundtrack of my life!
Going to listen to Way up now. Been a while and need that masterpiece.
We’ve since had our vow ceremony (we eloped to the courthouse 11 years ago) and I walked down the aisle to You - PMG. ❤️ I can’t imagine anything else being played now.
Oakland California?
I was there! Mind absolutely blown!
One of the most incredible songs I've ever heard live. I listen to the secret story dvd all the time..top 3 concerts I've ever seen..Pat's best work with all the guest musicians in my opinion. Too bad more people here in the US don't have a clue
T00 bad, yes, for them. The Lord God Almighy speaks through this man's guitar...as Pat is"Speaking in Strings"!
Metheny is a rabbithole with many twists and turns, from fusion to straight jazz, prog to whatever. Superb allways and so much to discover. This is from the superb album secret story. If like this, listen to “the truth will allways be” - from the same album. ....after all these years still some of best I have ever heard,...
The truth will always be ✅
yes!!!!!!The Truth will Always Be!
The album this track is taken from SECRET STORY is a masterpiece
The emotional breakdown Nick experienced is commonplace with me when I listen to Metheny. The “climaxes “ are simply breathtaking. I have enjoyed Pats work for years and it is some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard.
My wife and I saw Pat and crew perform Secret Story in Kansas City in summer of 1993. After 'Finding and Believing' I couldn't even stand to clap . . . I just sat there stunned. Lyle Mays had minimal participation in the album and was not with them on tour; my understanding is that Pat Metheny did much of the piano work on the album himself. As I recall there were 8 musicians on stage and the sound they produced was incredible. The percussion section was other-worldly and included Paul Wertico's wife!
I saw them on that Tour. It basically was The Group without Lyle ...
Missing Lyle terribly.😢
This is my favourite Metheny solo album, this is almost symphonic jazz. What you need to understand is that Metheny initially created these pieces all by himself using the Synclavier music system and guitars. He then slowly replaced a lot of the Synclavier parts with real musicians but there are still bits and pieces from his Synclavier score in there. The final step was adding orchestra to give it that symphonic sweep. The cast of musicians on this album is huge, all people with whom he has worked on and off over many years.
Also one thing to realise is that he has used guitar synths for years so when something sounds like a sitar or ethnic stringed instrument it is usually Metheny in his guitar synth. Fun thing is that when he wants to solo using his guitar synth he uses an almost trumpet like sound which he has used ever since he started using that Roland guitar synth. It is his calling card.
My favourite song of this album is The Truth Will Always Be which is an amazing slowly building piece of music that eventually explodes with that trademark Metheny Roland guitar synth solo. Very very emotional. I bet Nick won’t be able to keep it together on that one.
Adding a vote for The Truth Will Always Be. I hear it in my head now:)
@@eddiecollison That opening cadence and chord progression can get stuck in your head.
Increible! Thank you for another wonderful reaction. Not sure if you have heard "Minuano (six-eight)", but would highly recommend. Vintage Pat Metheny excellence. Cheers, you two are the best.
Minuano remains my favourite PM track. I just can’t stay still when I play it!
Minuano ✅
This album is a must for a time vault. Definitely, one of 20th century's masterpieces.
The man who came up with the wordless vocals for this song was the great Mark Ledford. Sadly he passed away in 2004. I saw this performed live in 1993. This song performed live was transcendent.
This is one of my very favorites. There is no way to describe it. It takes listeners to so many genres which I love. Pure delight ☺️
Not necessarily a song you need to react to, but "Facing West" is an energy filled shot of adrenaline from beginning to end and showcases Pat's 6 string playing ability.
Facing West ✅
Facing West!!
Yes! “Facing West” seems to be a homage to PMGs earlier days…late 70s…early 80s…with the “Big Sky” sound…a la Aaron Copeland’s “Rodeo”…no doubt Pat’s mid western upbringing. It sounds like its name. Great song.
If you really want to dive into PM you need to do ”Phase Dance” från the album PM Group and ”Are you going with me” from the album Travels.
I would add to that "San Lorenzo" from his Pat Metheny Group album, and if you really want to get "out there" listen to "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita Falls" from the album of the same name. Plus, on that same album, "It's for you" which was in the wedding scene from the movie "Fandango" (early Kevin Costner from mid-80s).
Now , real PMG listener talks, thx for reminding kids before they mention Pat . RIP Lyle and Nana ,long live Danny and Mark.
Or anything else released in his name or PMG, he don’t release no crap. He’s a serious dude.
Metheny. and especially the Pat Metheny Group... take us on a voyage. This is the greatest ensemble live.. (watch any of the live videos) of the recorded Era. Nothing else is remotely close.
This is really another Pat Metheny Masterpiece. Thnks for choosing. But it´s not a PMG recording. I guess the keyboard on this solo project album from the early 90´s is by Gil Goldstein. I saw this on tour in Germany. Relly great!
That outro section is bewildering in it's beauty. Truly. Imagine that live. It swings and the guitar tone is perfect.
I saw it live....and it does madden up the crowd!
I just watched this again, I was beaming from ear to ear getting chills. I hope you get to hear the rest of this album SOON. To say it is his masterwork is no overstatement.
I love this piece and your reaction to it. I also want to point out that this is not the Pat Metheny Group. This is a Pat Metheny solo album. On some of the tracks, he does use members of the group but also uses other world musicians, such as Cambodian choirs and orchestra. The album was, to that point, his most ambitious solo project.
The Secret Story Tour was off the chain. Saw it twice the 90s RIP Mark Ledford and Lyle Mays
This album changed my life 😀 I am so pleased that you are listening to so much great music 🎶
LOVE IT..I LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM ALL THE TIME WHEN IT CAME OUT..IN THE CAR,ON CD PLAYER IN HOUSE,ON WALKMAN...METHENY,WHAT A GIANT! APPRECIATE YOU GUYS...KENT
Truly one of the best concerts I have ever seen!!
Amazing Piano and Voice.

Pat has so many masterpieces. "Letter from Home", Have You Heard", "You" (feat Richard Bona), "Facing West"... All of them beautiful!!
As a guitarist Pat makes me simultaneously inspired and helpless in the knowledge that such genius and skill is something that I will NEVER come within a light year of replicating. The height of what music should be.
What is it with Pat Metheny's music? At some point, in nearly everything I've heard from him -- and I've been listening for decades -- I find myself crying or on the verge of crying. I get it with "The Falcon and the Snowman" but there's really no good reason for me to be crying right now (14:02) in this piece. It's a sweet, enduring mystery.
I've seen people burst out crying at concerts. He touches a higher plane and it is healing.
That part of the song filled me up with love from head to toe. That's some powerful music.
Alex, the same exact thing happens to me.
..I think it is because Pat's music, and in no small part due to Lyle's compositional genius, touches on the non-rational areas of our lives. Truth, Beauty, Joy, Love, Death etc. It is truly reverent. It is Art at it's finest, and will make you cry for all sorts of reasons.
True story. Rik Emmit, who was the lead singer and vocalist for the Canadian classic Rock Band Triumph... literally disbanded Triumph due to his experience at a PMG show in 1987 I believe. This was disclosed in a Guitar Player Magazine article. In that article he talked about the emotional/spiritual effect of watching this group. And highlighted among other elements, how many people were brought to tears around him.
I was lucky enough to have seen the group live at least ten times. And these were the best ensemble musical experiences of my life.
Hi, it has been a great pleasure and joy to watch your reaction to this tune from "Secret Story" of Pat Metheny! It reminds me of how I was astonished to what came to my ears and soul after the first listen to this amazingly cinematic storytelling. The titles of the tunes are very important. Here we have a picture of what happens when a kind of order is being brought to destabilisation and how much does it take to search for what has been lost. As a result of this search we got a brand new and uplifting quality. The new part of the gathered construction breaths, dances with such enchanting lightness - it is often so when after some losses and retakes we gain or we are being lead to a new level where we enjoy finding something and we then believe that all things past had their sense. We wake up refreshed and tansformed but without getting fully rid of what constituts us. Old parts, element and voices are still here but appear to us refreshed and thus rejoicing we may go on richer with what we found and what we believed or whom we believed. Once again, thank you for yor joyful reaction and bringing this music to people who maybe did not know it.
Wonderful analysis!
I recommend Checking out the PMG album Imaginary Day from start to finish. That opus is a real experience. Maybe the closest they got to a concept album? Also - their last magnum opus The Way Up is just superb. And a fitting end to the Mays-Metheny phase. You'l love them both - and in doing so introduce newbies to some real gems.
Thank you so much for reacting to this beautiful piece!
Such a journey, this track. Saw it live in Toronto at Massey Hall. It tansports you.
Goodness....Secret Story in Massey Hall....and the acoustics there.....
Love it when Lex worships Pat at 16:21
Richard Bona was prominent on the PMG “Speaking of Now” album. Yes...you have great taste😎. World music for sure. RIP Lyle Mays...
Another brilliant mini-concert is from his album "Imaginary Day" titled "Heat of the Day" (live concert) It belongs in every jazz library. It will transport you to a shimmering desert from morning to the "heat of the day"!
Dear music friends,
this is NOT a PM Group CD but a MP solo album. A very very special record!
It is a concept album! Pat felt the NEED to make this album! He first made the demo on the Synclaver, he even played the piano on the tracks.
This album is a big travel. I find it one of his best albums ....
The highlight of this album is the track ALWAYS AND FOREVER .... One day you'll discover this beautiful piece!!!!
Love you guys!!!! You're the best
Gert Jan ❤️🎹🇳🇱
Always and Forever ✅
Great to see a reaction to Pat Metheny. I enjoyed it. Secret Story is a great album. I will follow the channel a bit to see what content you bring. I subbed. I liked the way you are doing it.
I am so happy to find reaction videos for Pat Metheny. Finding and believing is a song I absolutely love...but hated it the first time I heard it. I may be nuts but since I bought Secret Story after it was released in 1992 I listened to it every single day for 10 years straight. I still listen to it quite often. It became such a deep spiritual album for me. Good work, guys!
All Pat is awesome. The Way Up, Orchestrion, the early stuff. Fandango. All of Secret Story. Offramp. Letter From Home! The live album Road to You is so good. Great road CD.
One more note...”Dream of the Return” is so beautiful...it will make you cry. Early PMG when Pedro Aznar played with the band and there were distinct Latino overtones and meter. Do yourselves a favor...go listen to “Dream of the Return”. Do it now.
Actually they will do a reaction to that song in July🙏🏽✌🏽❤️
Oooohhh that would be so nice. I love pat and i love pedro as well
A cacophonous WaterFall of Sound ! Seeing thru eyes of someone who could be my Kids ( I do not have Children ) is so rewarding glad Both of You liked this Piece. Winner Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album 1993
One of many (well deserved) Grammys for PMG.
My favorite pat song
A very special piece of music
Thank you so much for reacting to this type of music. The third part of this song is so powerful. And the solo at the end is just too much.
“Secret Story” is my favorite album and tour!On Halloween night 1994 I attended the best Metheny concert… my third by that time! Crazy Good! Standing Room Only we all were straight jamming on this one!
All kinds of interpretive dancing!🔥🔥🔥🎶💛😂
My Metheny’s favorite piece!!! What a joyride!!! And these voices!!!
The way Pat takes the same vocal patterns from the first part and frames them into the third part is amazing. I've known this song for 25 years and just caught this.
New subscriber!!!! Thanks for this channel
The best song on an amazing LP. Thank you Pat for the music of my later years.
I just really enjoy reactors more who know music; understand music and appreciate great musicianship. Keep it up.
Check out "Minuano (Six Eight)" or the entire album "The Way Up" by Pat Metheny. "You" featuring Richard Bona on vocals is outstanding.
So sorry I missed your recent live event! But you are doig so well, and it is so warm and fun to see and hear you enjoy and react to great music! Remember, Metheney "The Truth Will Always Be" will be your gateway to the most haunting, mysterious and beautiful Methenyt and Lyle Mays ever,,,
✅
@@mauriciodelarosa2449 I have arrived! A stamp of approval from Mauricio! I bet Mauricio will approve of this too: The MOST beautiful music video I haver ever seen, is a Pat Metheny piece where Pedro Aznar actually sings lyrics. Dream of the Return. I don't think you two have ever shown a video onscreen while you were reacting to the music, but this would be the one to do! If you do nothing else, at least see it on your own. But please share a reaction with us; it is wonderful life affirming music:
ruclips.net/video/gVxhyeaG87w/видео.html
PS. Maricio, if you have NicknLex's email, please send this to them; I do not know if they will read this.
@@alanparsonsfan Actually they are going to react to this song in July by the way I am also an Alan Parsons fan as well 🙏🏽✌🏽❤️
This technically isn't the Pat Metheny Group. This is a Pat Metheny solo project. However, almost everyone that was in PMG was in the touring group except for Lyle. Lyle did contribute in a small way to the album, though.
Thank you for reviewing this awesome song.
That álbum has the only instrumental piece that made me cry the very first time I listened: Antonia.
Pat Metheny is one of the very best composers from centuries XX to XXI. Yes, I said it.
Antonia ✅
I also cried for Antonia
So, that very cool choir you hear in this song is the Pinpeat Orchestra Choir of the Cambodian Royale Palace! When I went to see them perform live, David Blamires, Mark Ledford and Armando Marçal replicated the vocal parts to perfection. As you can imagine, the crowd went nuts! If you get a chance, please react to September 15th, or Are You Going With Me?, from Travels, or Letter From Home, which is just Lyle and Pat. Richard Bona with the PMG - You, from the album Speaking Of Now. Un saludo caluroso de un chileno en California. Hey Nick, I missed this the first time. You mentioned John Williams, so the middle part of this song (full orchestra), I've always called it the Star Wars part of the song. Ha! Speaking of Richard Bona and PMG, the song You is a must hear. Simply stunning!
✅✅✅
On a number of album tracks it's members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
You should check RUclips for the live performance of this tune. Awesome.
Saw PM on the secret story tour in 1992 at the landmark theater in Syracuse, NY...this show left a mark on me I'll never forget...got to meet the band after as well. As I recall from an interview at the time PM composed this album after a longtime relationship ended.
Metheny is a fantastic composer! His solos fit within the greater framework of his compositions. He doesn't solo mindlessly.
That piano drop into the third section never fails to give me a little shiver. Lovely stuff.
Pat and Lyle have scored several movies including “The Falcon and the Snowman” a good movie movie with Sean Penn…other movies include - · A Map of the World · The Taste of Others · Passsaggio per il Paradiso · The Silent Alarm · Big Time · Adieux · Lemon Sky · Orphans.
He plays with picassp arp guitar 42 strings please listem The Gathering Sky from the album Speakiing of now
Also. FANDANGO..with Kevin Costner
Congrats. You two have reached Metheny Level-10 ;)
Secret Story has been the most voted PM fave album in fan polls. It was the only PM tour/concert I'd gone to without hearing, knowing the release beforehand- and tbh, It left me a little confused, unsure. But didn't take long after to fully digest the album and realize what a masterpiece it truly is!
I saw them do this live, in concert. It was amazing. This was all done in an era pre click tracks and in-ear-monitors. The whole album is amazing.
Suggestions: Richard Hawley - Coles Corner; Ray Lamontagne - 'Till the Sun Turns Black/ Within You; The War on Drugs - An Ocean Between the Waves.
Huge Metheny fan kids...Pat is THE best guitarist on the planet...and beyond. Seen Pat many times...alone (orchestrion)...in a quartet...with his Unity Group...and with the original Pat Metheny Group.
The cadence on the outro on this song reminds me of some Old Dave Brubeck.
You guys need to watch the DVD of Secret Story live … 👍
My favorite track on the album!
In my humble opinion, Secret Story is Pat's greatest masterpiece. I haven't read the comments below so this may have already been mentioned, but there is an extended version from the original, in case people don't know. Also, the album is a true Pat solo creation. Note no Lyle Mays on this. I would have to go back to see who is on the album but it may be Gil Goldstein, who was the keys master on the Secret Story Tour.
He used to come to Barcelona every time he released something ( nowadays not nearly so often) and I have seen Pat Metheny Group five times , with the same core members: Paul Wertico- Drums. Esteve Robdy- Bass. And the incredible Lyle Mays, keyboardist and many other things who is an essential partner of Pat, cowriter of a bunch of iconic pieces in their career. And every time they brought along with them three or or four more incredible musicians, every one of them multitasking on several instruments and roles. Plus great sound and great visual presentation. On top of that the tickets weren't expensive at all, considering the kind of show it was and all the people involved in the production
Don't miss the live version from the video Secret Story Live in New Jersey 1993, it will blow your mind!
Absolutely loved your reaction Pat Metheny at the end goosebumps🙏🏽✌🏽❤️
One of my favorite albums, woohoo!
Not often mentioned - quite different from the typical PMG albums is QUARTET. Some quite humorous stuff on there - a kid of acoustic jazz type thing but a lot of fun.
It is a damn good feeling to see people reacting to music that I've been listening to for the past few decades. Pat is my favorite musician on this entire Planet. So far the vids l've seen from you are some of my favorite tracks. I would love to recommend the most phenomenal project I've ever seen/heard from Pat, it's called THE ORCHESTRION PROJECT
Hola, Nick and Lex, I'm a new subscriber and really like your channel. This is going to be lengthy so bear with me. Just from watching this video it moved me to make the following recommendations to you. Pat Metheny is my all time favourite musician so I am glad you guys are checking him out. He has many styles but two songs I would suggest are: Are You Going With Me from his album Offramp and Amelia from Joni Mitchell's Shadow and Light album recorded live in California. Her band included, Pat, Jaco Pastorius, Lyle Mays, Don Alias and Michael Brecker. Pat's solo on this will send you away above the clouds. I guarantee it! Since you liked the full orchestra on Finding and Believing you should check out the Moody Blues album, Days of Future Past and the song Nights in White Satin. I also think you would like the song, A Rocket's Tail from Kate Bush's Sensual World album. There are some vocals on it from a group called Trio Bulgarka from Bulgaria which is amazing. Well that's it for now and thanks if you read it all!
A couple of things: one of the best pieces on this amazing album; second, this isn’t the pat metheny group, but a solo album.
Truly a story of finding and believing.
I suggest listening also to the brilliant "live" performance which received a rousing ovation from the audience.
And please do play the live performance of "Heat of the Day", another masterpiece with an unforgettable piano solo by Lyle Mays.
Pat has written at least two movie scores (“The Falcon and the Snowman” and “A Map of the World” and PMG music was used in “Fandango...not sure if any cuts frim “Secret Story” made it to fhe screen.
My favorite of all his songs.
First off, I LOVE that you both are experiencing Pat Metheny. He truly is one of the musical geniuses of our time. As ChrisEchoes alluded to, much of the initial creation of the album was created on the Synclavier, one of the first digital audio workstations and samplers, it was superior (to me) in sound quality to it's competitor the Fairlight, which iconic on its own for much of 80's pop had very grainy samples in contrast. The Synclavier was a regular part of Pat's arsenal, roughly from 1981-97 and a lot of the Synclavier demos he created were blended with Lyle Mays' orchestrations to give additional textural depth. Lyle was not playing on this track, he plays piano only on "Facing West" and "Sunlight", and the majority of the album was recorded in Fall/Winter 1991-2 at the famous Power Station (now Berklee Power Station NYC) studios.
The vocals were some sort of IIRC Hindu chant which Pat had Mark Ledford learn phonetically, then sped it up and overdubbed multiple times. As a solo artist this album is Pat's magnum opus and for me has not been equalled as great as "From This Place" or "Kin " is, "Secret Story" captured Pat at a unique time. He is very private about his personal life, but at the time he wrote much of the music for "Secret Story" he had broken up with Shuzy Nascimento, a woman he was I believe engaged to be married to. He has a wonderful wife now named Latifa, and three children. As a writer about jazz I've been fairly close to Pat professionally over 20 years and have interviewed him several times. Through this association Antonio Sanchez has become a close personal friend, I'm also acquaintances with Cuong Vu, and friends with Lyle Mays' niece Aubrey Johnson.
Never heard Pat Metheny before. Love it.
Welcome to the Pat Matheny club. There's a lot for you to enjoy in this deep, deep rabbit hole.
Hello, I would like to see your reaction to the performances of Diana Ankudinova. Her amazing voice surprises everyone, she performed covers of the famous songs "Wicked Game", "Human", "Havana","Take on Me". She also has her own songs "Into the sky" (В небо), "Your Voice" (Голосом твоим), "Happiness" (Счастье).
Perhaps you will be surprised by the voice and performance of Diana Ankudinova and you will have a desire to introduce her to your subscribers, although she is a pop singer!
I saw a live PM band concert from the late 90’s that featured Richard Bona and another multi instrumentalist and they played a song called,”As it is” and I swear it instantly became a favorite song; beautiful melody, amazing solos and a killer guitar synth solo that builds and builds until he is practically bouncing around the stage
Nice to see these youngsters recognize the works of Pat and PMG...however Nick this isn't the pat metheny group as you said..it's a group of guest musicians and only of couple of his tunes had PMG band members making a contribution.. so many folks have no clue what they have been missing..the live version from New jersey on the secret story live DVD is amazing..watch it if you didn't get the chance to hear this amazing peace live in person
I started with the PMG with the easily digestible "Phase Dance" in junior high school, and I continued to follow him through the years. I saw this tour in the Seattle Paramount and I have to tell you it was one of the most profound hair-raising concerts I have ever heard. The compositions on this album are just so epic and several tunes sound rather personal. Pat fused a bit of Thailand musical grooves into this recording. At the live show, he had a pair of guitarist/trumpet/vocalists/vibe/marimba players that nailed the backing vocals. It was otherworldly! As a trumpet player/guitarist I was mesmerized to actually see that duality in concert.
The stand-out track for me was "Always and Forever". This track lives on my iPhone because of its sheer beauty. Careful Nick... it might move you to tears because it is that beautiful.
I saw Pat Metheny five times during late 80's and 90's. 4 times was the Pat Metheny Group and one time was not the Pat Metheny Group so Lyle Mays and a few others were not there, but the musicians who were were also first rate. However, each time was amazing. 2 times at the Tower in Philly and twice at the Mann Music Center also in Philly and then once at the Capitol-Strand Theater in York, PA after I moved out of the Philly area to the land of the Amish :-) This was for the albums Letter From Home, Still Life (Talking), Secret Story, The Road to You and Imaginary Day. All amazing musicians. Real shame Lyle Mays (R.I.P.) is no longer with us as I believe he was integral member of the band during this time. He passed away February 10, 2020.
Wonderful reaction vid. Keep up the good work and check out Lyle Mays solo album debut solo album from 1986 simply titled 'Lyle Mays'
Metheny plays an Ibanez hollow body electric guitar
Close To Home 👌🏽
For Richard Bona with Pat Metheny, check out 'You' from the album "Speaking Of Now"
The guys take you on such a journey you forget it's PMG. And then, slowly, ever so slowly, something begins to sound familiar...and then Pat comes in and says, "Welcome home." :)
wake up folks! there are about 80 musicians on this track.........i am not sure about that......but clearly it sounds like there is a bunch of musicians in it........so now, take time to clarify what is african, asian, european, american and you will understand why this song is considered as one of the top 5 composition ever played during the last century....... this track is the most positive sound ever created during the most depressive time ever shared....... you get it?
You guys make me smile ear to ear. I love when I am around someone who has just discovered Pats thing.
You could react to “The Way Up”, but the song is 68 minutes long! There - you have been challenged!
Music for the soul!!

Hey Please Please fo a full album Pat Metheny Offramp record it was his most Dynamic for the time all listeners will love it. Thank you for exposure of all music !
So cool you guys are reacting to Pat Metheny! Man talk about rabbit holes! Might I suggest San Lorenzo another masterpiece. As far as movie reactions you should definitely do some music related movies like The Song Remains the Same ect, ect. But hey it's your call. Great work guys!
San Lorenzo ✅
World music at its most beautiful.
We are SO on the same page, my friends. From prog to fusion to Metheny (fusion?). This number is like wheels within wheels, especially at the beginning. That entire album was the soundtrack to my ’92 honeymoon and new home with new life and beautiful bride. Extremely special. PM rules!
'American Garage' and 'Sea Song' are also great
Sea Song ✅
Love your reactions to some of the best music ever written in the modern era. I encourage to watch and listen to the Blue Ray dvd of The Way Up which is a long form album in 3-parts. I had the privilege to watch them perform it live but this blue ray is the next best thing. No need to react, just enjoy the ride!
I wasn't a big fan of the previous Pat Matheny song you played, but this one was great, probably because it was much more experimental and it was an interesting gumbo of genres mixed together. It definitely made me want to check him out some more.
Thank you! Have you done a video on ARE YOU GOING WITH ME?
