- Cash bail is now a thing of the past in Illinois, as a controversial provision of the so-called "SAFE-T Act" went into effect, after the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the law ending cash bail this summer.

@@Housemusic86your correct. Nothing will happened.
From what I read, there will be another court date sent and if they don't show up there will be a warrant for their arrest but it's also the police's discretion if they want to go after them or not. Not sure how accurate it is but makes sense with how things are going.

I mean they already were doing catch and release so who’s surprised cook county is a purge zone and it’s effecting the rest of Illinois and making it a tough place to live

How about holding them in jail until their court dates? Criminals don't deserve to stay home. I had a friend who was killed by a driver high on fentanyl, the driver was bailed out, and he overdosed before his court date, the coward he was.
Illinois is just enabling crimes, if someone commits a crime, put them in jail until their court date, they don't deserve to be at home with their families.
I live in Cincinnati , Ohio & a few years ago they made into law that if you commit a crime with a gun , you get no cash bail . We had a revolving door here & criminals were getting out & were committing more crimes , so gun crimes get no cash bail anymore , now you most likely sit in jail until your trial ends .
Democrats and republicans both suck they wanna choose what laws they follow and that's not how it works so u know I gave up so much on both I wount vote
Because there giving people no results people don't even come to the office anymore to speak with Congress because people know nothing again will get done

You must not understand. You can no longer buy your way out of jail if you are a menace to society. Gang bangers have been getting locked up for shooting at police only to be bailed out with dope money the next morning. No more.
