For anyone wanting to make their own treats remember thst cats are obligate carnivores so in most cases you can skip things like rice and flour and sub vegetable oils for samon oil as it is good for their coat and health :)
Yep, a lot of grains are actually bad for cats. Where possible, it's far better to get food without grains, rice, flour, etc.
But, too much fish/salmon oil can be bad for both dogs and cats. It can increase their chances of developing pancreatitis, so it’s important to be super careful with the amounts!
yeah, when i saw the first treat made almost entirely of flour and squash puree babyfood, i was actively hoping joob would reject it just on health reasons lol
@@SeraliaAerials yes absolutely this is great to keep in mind. Fish should only be fed as an occasional treat, no fats shoykd he fed in excess, and in cats a diet with excessive fish can also cause urinary tract issues and blockages. Buy as a treat sparingly it should be ok ! My cats love fish but unfortunately for them no part of their staple diet contains fish.

Some cats are catnip eaters and some are sniffers. Maybe Joob's just a catnip sniffer. I made catnip tea for my three cats and they all enjoyed it differently, but they all definitely enjoyed it.

For future reference cats usually prefer rubbing/rolling in catnip, which is what I think Joob was trying to do when Evan presented his tea-covered finger lol. Edit: I was almost worried that she'd tip the bowl over trying to roll into it lol!

Speaking from experience, the older cats become the pickier they get with new food and textures, so don't feel to bad about the two treats that didn't work out!
My cat is such an exception to this. She's 11 now and the sweetest, weirdest cat I've ever had. So far she's stolen bites of muffin, vegetable, egg, pie crust, and probably more.
@@jem5636 Did your cat already like stealing weird things when she was younger? If not exceptions really do prove a rule :D
@@thevisualkiwi To be fair, she did like to steal weird stuff as a kitten, but before the last year she'd gone back to only eating normal cat food. Then, around six months ago she started up again. I'd say results inconclusive.
Yeah my cat is 11, 12 in April, and he is SO picky.
When you mentioned that Joob is 13, all I could think about is that one meme that goes
"No mom, I'm 13. I eat unhappy meals now."
15:33 the cat animorph sequence just made me laugh uncontrollably for like 5 minutes. I don't know why but it's so amazing. That's a deep meme.
I'm sure you know this already, but for those who don't, catnip is a part of the mint family. It's not only safe for cats and humans alike, but it acts as a natural mosquito repellent and is delicious to boot! It has similar qualities as chamomile when you make it into tea (or at least it does for me). It's also hardy; it's pretty much the only plant in my garden that hasn't actually died yet 😭
It’s the only plant in my garden that never lives for more than a week as my cat and every cat within smelling distance savages it every time I plant it.
@@womensarmycorpsveteran2904 we cover ours in metal hanging baskets, it lets the leaves grow out so the cats can chow down on them but they can’t reach the inner section where most of the smaller leaves and stems are. If yours are particularly strong you can use some tent pegs to peg it into the soil!
Catnip makes me nauseous

My aunt found the fact, catnip is in the mint family by accident. She had big male mainecoon and he rolled in her peppermint patch in her garden just like if it was catnip she give him.
I have a cat with kidney disease and the homemade churu with boiled chicken is sometimes all that she can stand to have. Great recipe, and great for hydration!
Ohh yes I know that struggle. We had a cat with kidney disease, too! I cooked chicken soup for him a lot.
I know the feeling of shopping in the baby food isle for your cat. When my fur baby was sick he stopped eating anything, the ONLY thing he’d eat was chicken or turkey baby food 😂
I looked it up because apparently my cat is probably 15 this year (rescue, multiple owners), and apparently the first two years of a cat's life = 24 years then every year is 4 years after, so Joobie would be 68 in 'human years'. Such a distinguished old lady!

Wow! I guess my sweetheart who passed away recently was around 100 in cat years. Long lives run in our family.

Watching this while my gremlin nudey cat stares at me offendedly because he's not allowed treats after knocking down his treat canister and eating all of them in one go a few days ago (he went to the vet; he's okay, just a bad boi)

so, i have a suggestion
we give our ferrets salmon oil, it's a treat + diet addition for cats and there's also a dog version right
but god our ferrets love it, maybe putting some of that into these treats could help it!
this was hilarious and so fun to watch, we love seeing joobie get the queen treatment she always deserves!!
Too much fish oil can make them sick but in small amounts nutritionally and as an occasional treats is good!

Catnip is also an old remedy for sour stomach.
I enjoy a nice tea I make from drying the catnip I grow (picked, tied in a bunch and hung until air dry). I also like to chew on the fresh leaf.
My clowder are all spoiled, they prefer my dried catnip to any I buy.
It's good for our digestive too, from what I've read online.
When measuring flour, you should spoon it into the measuring cup, and lightly tap so it's flat. If you scoop right from the bag it'll often pack down the flour in the cup, causing more flour than needed and ending up your dough being dryer, giving it a more floury taste. I learned that in my cooking class in high school. it even helps save on flour a little since it can be kinda messy.
Correct, but that would not have changed anything in this instance. That treat consisted of all the most bland foods possible😂 the egg was the most flavorful

Fun thing with the catnip tea smelling like actual tea, is because many teas that are supposed to help calm you use catnip! I work on a farm and grew most of the ingredients and the one we use the most in our “focused and calm” style drinks is the catnip!
This video is so cute! Also, just FYI, that laundry detergent, and most laundry sheets have water soluble plastic in them, which, unfortunately, most water treatment plants aren't equipped to handle. So they're cool sheets, but they do put plastic into the water system. According to my research the Blue Land laundry detergent tablets are plastic free.

LMAO the animorphs bit. with catnip consumption i know two things: you can make and drink catnip tea, its meant to have a sort of calming effect. also, you can use catnip as a filler in weed (and in fact it used to be!) theres no real danger to it other than, you know, the usual dangers of smoking something

My little boy won't eat ANYTHING but cat food (which is good ig, lol) but I have a newly adopted little girl who eats EVERYTHING. And I mean *everything.* Rubberbands, tape, gloves, *my food.* Nothing is safe. I used to binge these types of videos but I knew in my heart it wasn't worth it. I'm genuinely excited to make her these little snacks! 😊 Hopefully I can find something homeboi is willing to try as well. We'll seeee!!

I think the catnip tea is strongly dependent on the cat's reaction to regular catnip, for example my older cat is only interested in eating it, and I think he'd enjoy the tea as well, but my younger cat feels the need to rub on everything that the catnip has touched and bite me if I'm holding any, so I would absolutely not give it to her, she would spill it all onto the floor 🤣
the day i found out my cat wasnt sensitive to catnip was a sad day.

My two cats voted two paws up for DIY churu! My male snowshoe would absolutely love to be held like a baby as he is held like this every day. Never thought of feeding him before! Definitely trying this. 🐈😻
You could combo all of these as 1. Instead of baby food use the tuna soup and instead of water use catnip tea.
Adorable. Love how she just wants to roll in catnip but the canip is tea.
For catnip, many cats prefer to have catnip on them instead of in them. With both my boys, they'll roll around in catnip and then eat some of it. My brothers cat wrestles with the catnip for a while before eating it. That may be why when you offered the catnip tea on your finger, she instead told you to pet her, so she could get those sweet, sweet oils in her fur.

Katelyn's about to have the best nap of her life! Catnip, while a stimulant to cats, is actually a sedative to humans! Catnip tea is great for those who wants a good night's sleep!

Cats tend to age very well it's not until they are extremely old that you can really start to notice it usually in either stiffer movement when their joints start to bug them or in coat condition if they start having trouble keeping themselves clean (which can easily be hidden if they are happy to let you groom and bathe them) Our girl turns 12 this year and while she's obviously an older adult cat I don't think the average person would guess she's as old as she is
Highly recommend freezing the cat gogurt! I do this with the store bought ones for my cats in the summer as a cold treat and they love it

Hey! I use Earth Breeze! I love their scented sheets; they make my laundry smell amazing and I love the smell while the washing machine is running too, which is great because our laundry room is also our kitchen. We also use their dishwasher detergent!

Me as a guy who likes glowsticks, I had to figure out a way to have rechargable ones. I found super great ideas on the internet and I had my own toughts as well. I made a few one(using resin) and it turned out pretty well. If you guys would like to make a project that only require a few days, I have the best idea for you! I will tell you the ideas later, 'cause I assume you won't see this.

Catnip grows wild all over the world. It may be growing right outside in your yard. Youve likely even seen it and didnt know it was catnip. Look up images of the fresh plant and if it grows in your area. Here in the northeast US it grows everywhere. I typically find it on the edges of fields, railroad tracks, wood lines, road sides, and near fences. Its very easy to identify because of its smell too. Its also very easy to grow.
