Not bad my friend.. But there are a few things I think you should have mentioned in case some folks don't know.... make sure you power is 5 v/ 750 - 1500 mA otherwise you put to much of a strain on your system and it may fail earlier if the mA are to high.. Plus make sure you are grounded before playing with the camera.. they are very sensitive to static and I have found out the hard way how sensitive.. the Pi and other components are not that sensitive but cameras in whatever capacity you use them are.. carry on andrew you did a good vid here.. (even if I am a hopeless windows guy.. except when I use linux)

Darek Barquero Might want to look into HOOBS.org. My Linux skills are minimal and I’m nothing close to a hardware jock, but I was able to add my SmartThings setup to HomeKit using a HOOBS (Homebridge Out Of the Box) setup. Pretty easy to do and it’s ‘pay what you think it’s worth’ - could be as cheap as a free dowwnload. One suggestion if you go HOOBS - backup your system after it’s stable and before doing updates or changes. I had a good working setup and neglected to backup before applying a small point upgrade... which broke my system. :-( Lesson (I should have known) learned.

    Hello AI,
The video works with a 16 GB SD card.
    The .dmg is 16.03 GB.
On my SD card are 15.8GB free.
Can you please make the .dmg so small, that it on one
    16GB SD card fits?

    • @miguelangeloconceicao738
      @miguelangeloconceicao738 6 лет назад +3

This image was created from a 16GB Sandisk SC card. This brand has a slightly larger capacity than other SD card brands.
So if you flash the image to a Sandisk SD card it should fit fine.
Note however that this DMG image file has 5 partitions and the last partition contains around 95MB of empty space - so this means you can also use other 16GB SD card brands with a slightly lower capacity, but in this case you must use another method for flashing the image file (etcher does not allow you to flash the image to a shorter capacity SD card)
I used the hdiutil and dd terminal commands and it worked fine:
On your terminal window just type these commands:
      hdiutil convert ~/Downloads/ai-homekit-camera.dmg -format UDTO -o ~/Downloads/ai-homekit-camera.img
      mv ~/Downloads/ai-homekit-camera.img.cdr ~/Downloads/ai-homekit-camera.img
      diskutil list
(on the output of this command look for your SD card 15.5GB disk - in my case it was disk4 - so this is the disk number I used on the next 3 commands)
      diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk4
      sudo dd if=~/Downloads/ai-homekit-camera.img of=/dev/rdisk4 bs=1m
(If the SDcard runs out of space you will get this "dd: /dev/rdisk4: Input/output error" - In this case it's OK since the extra space does not contain any data)
      diskutil eject /dev/rdisk4
      And it's Done!
Alternatively, you can use other apps for flashing the image file (example, Win32DiskImager for Windows - which despite complaining that the image file will not fit, let's you know that you can go ahead because the excess space does not contain any data)
