If you have an engine that spins reliably to 8,000 rpm and hopefully still makes power above 7,000 rpm, I don’t care what nameplate is on it - that’s just cool. Looking forward to the dyno sounds.
I like em all. 331ci Windsor in my road race LX, 630hp LS in my buggy, STS-V for the Mrs., and a thumping BBC in the boat. I tow the toys with a 7.3 psd dually I built up a bit and I love them all. I'd loke to build a blown hemi someday...just haven't had the right opportunity yet. Keep up the great videos. 👍
love what you said about keeping an open mind when building these engines. I am also surprised to not see a windage tray on something that spins so fast but maybe the oil pan has some kind of scraper built in? Or maybe you feel like it doesn't need it. In any event this thing is cool.
This is a great build. Thanks for all the detailed information. Could you substitute a Dart aluminum block on this type of big cube, high rev build? If so, what would the approximate weight savings be?
Love the content ! Excited to see the rest of this build as I am installing a similar spec’d sbf engine and curious to see how they compare *** There is nothing like a high rpm pushrod motor screaming ! Love watching the channel , keep up the killer work guys 💪🏻…….
Tell me about it. I built my 289 to 7500 rpm. Many didnt believe, others were shocked, and some shit themselves. Then I introduced the first guy I came across and smoked my little 289 with a 327 chevy, spinning to 10,000 rpm. Now thats a fast piston speed! Currently building 2006 Boss 302 block(#171) to 347 with billet Scat crank built for 8500 rpm. I should've went with I-beams....just as strong and lighter. At least for this application...I make up for it with my billet lightweight crankshaft!
Team Ford all day Fords are faster than Chevy's any day of the week and all the Chevys are heavy.LOL that should stir up the bees LOL LOL I'm just playing I'm Team America I love all domestic Motors Ford Chevy Mopar Pontiac that's the order I personally like
Ford all day. When I hear LS I think of two little kids playing swords in bathroom 🚽. I bet they think they're magic Mike with that cute little bowtie.
America 🇺🇸 💪🏼 I would have to go with team Chevy my fiancé works for GM her brand is Cadillac she’s District sales manager here in Dallas Texas. And I have a 6.0 ls that eventually someday I’d like to drop off to you so I can get some more screaming Eagles out of it .
I just had a Dart SHP block, Callies forged 3.4" crank & Callies forged 5.4" H beam rods with Mahle 1mm/1mm/2mm ring pack 11:1 CR 363 built. AFR 195 Renegade heads and Performer RPM AirGap intake with a Comp Cams custom hydraulic roller that will rev to 7,000 RPM AND make a LOT of torque down low with a decent idle. 8,000 rpm sounds great, but I'll stick with my combo in my '85 Foxbody. 585 HP will MOVE a 3,100 lb Mustang....Yeeehah!!! I like your 363 build too, Dart SHP is bulletproof... but there are 'lots of ways to skin a cat'.
I’m thinking about going with a 632 BMF or a Pro Ls 427 S/C. I plan to take the car on road trips back home which is a few hours away, 6 max. Which motor would you recommend considering gas mileage and driving around town?
I have both currently. 1967 Mustang with a 289 and a 2003 Chevy Stepside with 5.3. Hard to beat an LS reliability but also had old farm trucks with 351w in them that would go 250-300k miles. I’d like to build an engine for the Mustang or an old F100 but seems like a lot to learn for someone to do it alone without a mentor or helper. Can’t wait to see the Ford scream!
@@JacobVillemain You can run more than that on 91. Should have been 11.5. We are doing 10.5 in superchaged engines. Sorry if I had put this much money into a motor that put out such weak numbers I wouldnt want to tell anyone.
That’s why they invented that e85 stuff. Sure it smells disgusting, if you let it sit for five minutes it’ll suck all the moisture out of the air and turn into napalm jelly oh! And it eats and corrodes most of the stuff fuel system plumbing and carburetors are made out of- but it is like essentially running 107 octane and spraying the thing with meth simultaneously. Everything stays cooler- there are no spikes,no real risk of detonation and you can bump up that sbf to 13.5-1 compression!
Yeah, but it’s not even a Ford engine block. It’s an aftermarket block aftermarket crank aftermarket rods. Take a bone stock board block. Do the machine work to it and you can spin 8000 RPM I build a 289 punched it out 40 over with the right head and the right cam it’s spun 8000 RPM, but that’s not a Ford motor but it is one hell of a motor that’s for sure
Is that an Aviaid oil pan? Why not talk about the pan and its part in making rpm and horsepower. Ugh.....the windage will win out here. It'll be a struggle after 7k.
I don't know any other engine you can put nothing but a camshaft and springs and make over 500 hp. Easily. A salvage yard ly6 is the cheapest most powerful engine I've seen so that is what is in my mustang
If you have an engine that spins reliably to 8,000 rpm and hopefully still makes power above 7,000 rpm, I don’t care what nameplate is on it - that’s just cool. Looking forward to the dyno sounds.
Ford all day everyday.
Watching from Australia.i love a high rpm small block ford!!

Thanks for sharing this for my ultimate mustang build
FORD 🍻👍
I Am from Argentina My family runs a workshop for years, We have worked on all kinds of vehicles but we are all Chevy fans.
Do you build any 289’s?
Great video.

Sbf For Life 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
That's basically how I built my nitrous Motor. Loved that video. I went with 11.25 compression tho. Race gas motor.
Cant wait for the Dyno

Love FORD Small Blocks

Just got a smeding performance RUclips video ad before this video lol
Yep....they make great pans!
Chevy. But old school Ford engines are awesome and sound phenomenal!
I'm Ford falcon person.
Forever Ford!

Thank you for taking us on the bill would like to see the same video on the ls Street and strip motor💯💯💯💯💯
Love this series... I am building out a Ford Racing BOSS 302 motor...Curious, who makes the cam?
Great video Ford power forever baby
chevy ... Best for budget build
Ford you knows that’s where it’s at if you want real horsepower
I'm a ford guy
Team Ford Baby!!
No crank scraper or windage tray inside the pan?
Team ford all day

It wasn’t mentioned but did you weight match the rotating assembly to within how many grams or fraction of grams?
Awesomeness thanks for the knowledge

What is the lobe separation on the cam and where did you install it ? Thanks

Want to build a 1970s style screaming small block for my gasser build going to run a 6 speed manual box 9" rear and 4.11 gears.
What kinda power does it make? Dyno curve??

What is the part number of the oil pump..like it. Going ing 302 boss block,331,eagle crank ....

What valve covers did you use?
Why wouldnt you want to run a roller cam upgrade?
I’m on team engine, but have built (1) ford 331, and (1) Toyota 4AFE,
I’m thinking about going with a 632 BMF or a Pro Ls 427 S/C. I plan to take the car on road trips back home which is a few hours away, 6 max. Which motor would you recommend considering gas mileage and driving around town?
hi i have diesel engine Chevrolet Z20S any suggestion part that i can upgrade for this engine ?

Ford engine pre dohc just as reliable even more
Pre 80's Fords
Chevy all the way 🏁
What is the oil pump #? I normally use a melling m68a, it has a 70 psi spring.
Who made the cam and part number.
Teem ford 😊
Ford sb!
Dont ya degree cams?
I bleed blue
Sorry Budd but you are leaving a lot of torque and horsepower on the table with that compression ratio🤔
I couldn't agree more, thanks California.

I’m a Chevy fan. I’m even putting an LS in a Cobra kit car😮😮. My question to you is, who makes cheaper horsepower, Chevy or Ford?
Chevy makes cheaper horsepower to a point, but eventually they equalize.
If you know what you’re doing Ford can make better cheap horsepower
Chevy. I had a 383 in a Contemporary Cobra . 580 HP on pump gas. I’d spend 20% more to make equivalent power with SBF.
I’m surprised the crank isn’t knife edged
Oh NO! The crank and its counter weights.....ugh, windage! I bet it runs out steam after 7k.
How do you or who specs your camshafts
I spec all of our camshafts. Experience, a little bit of math & knowhow!
@@JacobVillemain are you a person that believes in specing by LSA or it is what it is.
Chevy, can't wait to be able to afford mine for my '66 Chevelle
Is that an Aviaid oil pan? Why not talk about the pan and its part in making rpm and horsepower. Ugh.....the windage will win out here. It'll be a struggle after 7k.
Chevy all the way! Waiting on my ls3 from y’all rn ❤
We are just waiting on pistons and then can knock out your build!
I am on team engine

You’re joking, right?
Good video.
I’m an Australian 🇦🇺 Holden V8 engine guy…. But, I’ll go Chev over Ford.
Team Chevy
Another RUclips video with ABOUT compression ratio, and ABOUT valve lift. Suscribers, good luck.
Now do it with a real Ford block...nope☠💥
351w block will do it. 2 bolt main to boot. Just takes the same details in the build as a SBC.

Ford for life, Chevy is 💩!
