      Hello Derek,
Thank you for your compliment, I will continue improving my content:)
I totally understand your feelings. In fact, I was like you, I was considering to get this trifold or Brompton external 2 speed. However i (Need save more $).
I tried and tested 3 Speeds and feel that it is sufficient for most terrains. I find external gears easier to climb. Moreover, external gears are lighter than internal hub which makes it even easier to climb up hill. I don't feel draggy when on external.
Though pikes gear ratio could be lighter but it doesn't translate to power when I ride. Pls correct me if I'm wrong...
You should go any test ride, pikes vs aceoffix vs 3sixty. You can feel a difference.
      Hope this helps!
      Cheers! :))

I sold my 10yr cannondale MTB and 1 year Sava z1 2 weeks ago on carousell. In replacement, bought a aceoffix last sat and brompton m6r today. Initial impressions - My aceoffix feels light. brompton ride feels more sturdy and comfortable. Can feel less flex. 6gear is an advantage when riding up slope. Handle bar of aceoffix is lower.

    • @raylearnstofilm6668
      @raylearnstofilm6668  2 года назад +4

      Hello,
Wah 10year old, a lot of sentimental value. Sava z1 is a fast bifold right?
I had a brandless foldie last time too, now become market bike. I don't really like bi-folds because of the pushing when folded.
Yes, I agree Aceoffix is light and you will feel Brompton more sturdy because of the heavy internal hubs. It lowers the center of gravity which makes the bike slightly stable.
When I first used Aceoffix, coming over from pikes, I felt the same when going over humps. But in the end, I got used to it. Once, I added my bag weight, waterbottle weight, the bike becomes the same weight as my pikes(without bag or waterbottle)
But when cycling, you can feel the Aceoffix has a faster acceleration and longer spin when cruising.
I don't know about the flex, I didnt feel it. Yes Aceoffix handle bar lower because of the the stem length/M bar.
I would want to get Brompton P Line when I saved enough (4years later)....
      Cheers and ride safe.

Just picked up a Pikes 9 speed. For me, it was the clear winner. All of the trifolds are great bikes though. I wanted 9 speed because I live in a mountainous area. It makes climbing a breeze and I can catch really good speed on the downhill. I liked Pikes better than the other brand 3sixty because Pikes had about 5 more cm from seat to handlebar. I'm a big guy so the extra kg don't make any different to me when carrying it. I guess when you're a 90-100kg guy an extra 5 kg just isn't much compared to the gained efficiency on gears.

      Hello Elias
Good to hear that Pikes is a good bike for you. In fact, I feel blessed that we have many more options rather than just solely Brompton.
Clearly, the trend now is trifolds, and cycling is here to stay. Very happy for all of us:)
I tested the 9speeds pikes gear ratios and find it quite confusing as most of the gear combinations 3x3 are quite similar. I would get a BWR if I ever go back to internal hubs as the gear ratios are wider which allows me to climb and cycle at top speeds.
Same, I'm a big guy too, I am not too bothered about the weight. The main reason for going external is not the Weight for me but the efficiency of the hubs when rolling.
      Ride safe and be happy:))

    • @raylearnstofilm6668
      @raylearnstofilm6668  2 года назад

      Hello Darren,
I don't get your question when you shared that you want replace titanium parts and get aceoffix.
What I mean is Ace frame dimensions are designed so that whatever parts that fit on a Brompton can fit on an Ace.
For instance, I buy titanium fork/rear triangle, I can fit it into Aceoffix or Brompton. Since both Aceoffix and Brompton are similar in fitting dimensions.
Angle at the fork there is minimal difference. But what I mean is the fit and frame size is almost identical.
If you compare with Pikes, you can't fit a Brompton/Aceoffix triangle into the Pikes mainframe. Due to the different in the hinge pin width.
Hence Pikes trifold cannot be fitted a titanium rear triangle that is designed to fit an Aceoffix and a Brompton.
Hope my explanations are clear. Feel free to ask:)

Brazings found on the Brompton is much of a higher quality control neatness than the Aceoffix. Moreover, the finishing such as nickel plating is better on Brompton with no external rust.

@@raylearnstofilm6668 Yup, the P Line is superb bike. But gear 6 (3+) on BWR can be blindingly fast so dun rule that out. Internal gears requires less maintenance. And dun forget, the 4 speed system on the P Line is a patent pending system developed by Brompton, which means that if it screws up, it might jus get expensive.
Anyway, having gone thru bifolds and Pikes and now Brompton, my advice is to get a Brompton if you are really into trifolds. Ride whatever u have now, dun mod dun waste $ and save up for a B. U won't regret it.
And keep up the good work on those vids. I usually ride along the Jurong-Ulu Pandan-Alexandra-MBS area. If u see me, jus say hi. Cheers dude!!

@@keithteo3454 Yaa, Shifu@Bartley prefers his internal BWR hubs. I also wish to try one haha. Brompton, I will definitely try once I save enough money.
I cycled yesterday from Taman Jurong to MBS, same route as you! We can ride together in future.!
