Dude small world I met Michael when he used to tour with The Jordan Howerton Band a couple years ago. They used to play for a youth conference that I’m on the production team for! He was always so amazing and nice!
Great rig - thanks for sharing! I also moved to the Quad Cortex from Kemper and have been able to effectively and convincingly capture many of my OD pedals and enough so to remove them from my board, allowing me to simplify my pedalboard making it easier to manage and haul. I too found the verbs in the QC not meeting the same standard to that of my Big Sky. I recently purchased a Jet Revelation v2 reverb pedal and feel it does an outstanding job bringing a very similar and capable worship type reverb to my board, that I had with my Big Sky...in a smaller and easy to use format.
@@michaelmiyahara8434 I completely understand where you're coming from Michael...the Big Sky is the pinnacle for Reverb pedals. However, for me personally and after owning three Big Sky's I realized I was really only using three algorithms and wanted to scale down my massive pedalboard...without sacrificing tone and effects quality. As much as I like many of the effects in the Quad Cortex I wasn’t completely satisfied with the reverb sounds I’d been accustomed to with the Big Sky. Upon trying the Jet Revelation pedal I knew immediately it was more than adequate as a replacement (in my situation) for the Big Sky. Now with my Quad Cortex, an Eventide H90, a Duke of Tone and the Jet Revelation I’ve been able to offload many pedals, yet maintaining the quality of tone and effects processing I had always been used to.
Hello! What a great video! But could you explain to me how are you working with Bigsky? I mean, I want to use the big sky in the end of the signal and sounds stereo.
QC can cover everything. I use a hybrid rig juat because I have pedals laying around. Realistically you can do it all in one. I just really like the sound of my reverb and delay pedals so I have those in an fx loop.
Like on the cortex app? Haven’t tried but I’d be willing! Keep in mind they’d be minus compressor, the Klon, and reverb since I run those externally. Would you still want them?
@@spawn302 Let me know when you post your preset on the cortex cloud. It's been a good minute since, but I'd still like to get your preset.. Just followed you.. tag name starts with Human.. Thanks!
@user-th5cc7wl4j It won't let you post your preset if it uses someone else's preset as a base unfortunately. :/ I might do a video covering the preset though! I use WorshipTutorial's Revv D25 V30 SC preset. I just added an fx loop and removed a few blocks since I use my own reverb, delay, and modulation.
It is DEFINITELY a thing. Especially in the effects loop, had to reduce output gain a healthy amount (enough to make me think it’s a bug). Everything was distorting. Pedals in front of the QC don’t seem to have the same issue
Enjoyed the gear rundown. Question - why keep the klon always on when you can set your amp up to sound like that? Any reason? I usually run an always on comp into a GoldenBoy (BB style overdrive) which ends up staying in but a klon even if set clean is different. Thoughts? You like it’s coloration?
@PaulDatta purely personal preference. After so many years with it on my board, I feel like the dynamics of it and the color it adds are a part of my playing. Can definitely be done without it, probably even with better/more transparent pedals…
@@michaelmiyahara8434 thanks. Like Nuno and his rat pedal that’s always on with no gain. Just to add that bit of attack/compression magic. I’m glad you’ve found your thing.
Hey man! I know it's a bit late. If you run the fx loop after the amp/cab/combo, it seems like something weird happens and you need to adjust the send and return volume on the loop. I usually have to drop the send volume and raise the return volume so that it sounds the same volume. Usually I can keep them at zero if I put the fx loop into the amp.
In my opinion the Kemper did nothing well. It was stiff. The sound needed help from pedals. Sold it and feel relieved. Love the quad. Love my amps and pedals first but the quad is great. Best UI in the business.
WT ‘63 B-Man Tx N HB 2 and WT AC30-6 TB Br 3 But I’m waiting for something that really blows me away like the first time I heard the MBritt stuff on Kemper

Amen to that!!!! Starts at the source, meaning the actual musician 😀
it depends, if the sound guy is a failure. then its failed

Nice! I know he toured with Stars Go Dim, but didn’t know about Jordan Howerton Band.
Noah! How was Collide this year? Fancy running into you here, hope you’re well!
@@michaelmiyahara8434 it was awesome man! You were missed!
sounds fantastic, and i know it cuts the mix well but the lack of low end allowed in worship DI guitar sound today drives me nuts
I do have a lowcut on his channel strip, but we have a bass player filling that space.
Thanks Michael!

I honestly don’t know if I could ever move away from the big sky. It’s as much a part of my playing at this point as the pentatonic scale.

hola super versatil tu pedalboard, Felicitaciones. Podrias mostrar un diagrama unilineal con las conexiones? desde ya gracias y saludos desde Chile
Thanks for sharing this video with us. God bless.
Absolutely, glad you enjoyed it!
My concern is having the Quad cortex and don't feel enough and use more pedals. QC must cover everything for that price.

is that power/in/out box in the upper right of your board something that's custom made or did you buy it somewhere?
Custom made I believe.
