Got to love Beck; it kills me that they only adapted the first third of the manga. Can you imagine how good it would have been to have seen and heard this song along with: Human Fly, Electric Sheep and, of course, The Devil's Way. And then to have watched some of the other great sequences: Jim Walsh filming their first Music Video, Beck playing at the Snake Pit and, best of all, the whole of the Avalon Festival. Man, I can't help but come over all pathetic fan-boy when I talk about this series.
Actually it WAS in the anime.....just not in it's completed form. It was on the tape that Koyuki gave to Taira to listen to in the last episode that convinced him to come back to Beck. You hear part of the bridge being sung accompanied by an acoustic guitar.
I love how this song cheers me up everytime I listen to it: "In a sleepless night, with a chaotic mind I could find my star that led me ahead and took me away to the better ways" Nothing has ever compared this words to me. Thank you, Harold Sakuishi. Thank you, Kusking Bee. Thank you, Beck.
1.2 million views for a song in an anime. Let alone, a song that didn't make it into the show. I think this shows how loved this show was, and how much people want it to continue!
Great animation. I feel it describes the feeling of being a rock musician well because it has all the nuances of starting off by playing acoustic guitar and learning little things while having to live a complicated life. The animation does such a good job of showing the realistic feeling about rock music. So very original and yet very classical. It is my all time favorites. Plus, it just has great music! I wish America would go back to the simpler days of just rocking out.
Me and my band are covering this song! And we’re adding it to our Ep. I hope we get big enough and bring more recognition to Beck. I’d love for them to bring it back. And reprint those manga volumes.

If you listen to 'Walk' by Foo Fighters and then this you an hear just how similar they are. And the created confirmed that Beck was inspired by bands like RHCP, RATM, and Foo Fighters.

What I like is that they did show the difference in musical style between this song, written by Koyuki in the story, and songs written by Ryusuke like Face (Sister) and Slip Out. IMO, Ryusuke's songs sound like songs that fit in Oasis era, while this song sounds more like from Simple Plan era.

There is, the first pic you see is called Hajime no Ippo (boxing). And the music scenes are from an anime called "Beck". It's about a band thats trying to make the pro world. It's the best dramatic / music anime i've seen so far. The boy you see carrying the yellow guitar and white t-shirt plays in a Japanese band called Husking Bee. There is an OST of it aswell. Regards
Honestly IMO I think it's better that the rest of the series wasn't animated. Because there is absolutely no way to encapsulate the magic of 'Devil's Way'. Unless they cover a song universally loved by everyone, or have a band write the best song ever.
This song beats out all the other songs Beck performs in the anime. It's a shame it wasn't featured more prominently... Beck really needs to have the rest of the story adapted...

Out of Hole [or in anime Slip Out] was the first songs by Yukiyo but Baby Star is the first song that Yukiyo did that does not involve anyone help. this song in this vid really described how the song would turn out because ryusuke are not around when the song was made so this song was like pretty raw though the bass is not as funk as it should be. . i really hope that season 2 happen even though it had been years since the first seasons.

Apparently, Koyuki is kind of a mix. He holds the guitar like Tom Morello (RATM), but when he sings without his guitar, he takes a stand like Liam Gallagher (Oasis) with his hands behind his back. Don't know about Saku yet though. The author said he took a lot of influences from the RHCP & RATM. So maybe he's a hybrid of both drummers?
Actually it was played when Taira told his band members that he decided to get back to BECK. It's the demo tape Koyuki handed to him. So this song did appear in anime :)

@@Aux114 Nah, it's because the dubs are just covers of the orginal songs by voice actors who aren't musicians. Kazuya Hirabayashi is a really talented singer/guitarist from Husking bee, hard to beat him out in terms of vocals. The dub vocals weren't bad, but they lack soul.

It is Baby Star. In the manga it was referred to as Baby Star but Brightest was an alternate title.
