I guess you forgot that Koyuki is actually a japanese teen who does not speak fluent english, his accent is actually part of the story. And they actually talk about that a lot when they are going to the american tour in the manga, and only after that he develops fluent english.
I don't remember this at all. I remember him playing, but the words were not to this song, but I recognized it by the melody and thought, is this I've Got a Feeling. Edit: I think i know why, this must be the sub and the dub changed the words.
Daniel Godstix He sang better, he had somewhat a Rock Stars voice. Not talking about this guy, he sounds a bit old to play him. Well sounds in singing that is.
***** i cant deny that greg ayres did a good job as a voice actor, or even as a singer in this role, but the song coice was too far apart from the japanese original (which is weird considering they had english speaking songs) for my liking.
Daniel Godstix So many people pick subs over dubs. I appreciate the dubs for giving their time, sometimes dubs make it better. In my opinion the voice for Levi on AoT would've been better and that take it like a man quote? Epic. Don't get me wrong but, many people rather choose subs because its popular.
Bobthemime they changed it to be the Dying Breed song Koyuki is always listening to on the radio and CDs throughout the show. Him going on stage and playing that instead of the actual I've Got A Feeling fits the character in the show far more. Then he kind of combined 50c Wisdom with pieces of I've Got A Feeling, which fits how improvised and thrown together the song was within that short time period of him going on stage by himself with no preparation. FUNi did they're best to work around the copyright and arguably put forth a more meaningful scene in context. Plus I'm partial to Greg Ayres singing it aha.
Zach Montminy in the manga it's the Beatles instead of the rocket Boys he plays with Saito. So it makes a lot of sense for him to do a Beatles song here. But I agree, there was a lot of thought put into the dub and the scene is still very meaningful
When I was a teenager I watched this anime, I formed a band, somehow it inspired me to pursue the dream of music, today each member of the band has taken their own path, I try not to leave music, not to stop playing the guitar, Although the hours of work make me come home tired, listening to this version of I Ve Got a Feeling heals my soul and revives my dream.
Your experience growing up is just as same as mine, friend. Since i watched beck when i was 13, i was inspired to form a band. My brother started to play the drums, and i started to play the guitar. The band was called "tempestade cerebral", portuguese for Brainstorm (my favourite MSC song). Each member of the band took a different path, and i havent seen my brother for months now. I never stoped playing, but now im a bassist. Taira kun is my god lol
One of the best manga endings I've read. I'd really want to see the performance animated, with Eddy's silhouette. The way the manga portrayed it, it would probably have been an epic performance.
What saddens me is that a second season or a remake would probably never happen. I feel like it's nearly impossible to recreate or top the emotional and passionate vibes the original has. Mostly because Beat Crusaders (the band that created most of the songs for this anime) has already disbanded, and to recreate the band wouldn't be achievable.
as sad as it is to say, the ending was solid, i think this is one if thos rare times where another season would damage the anime as it is now, chances are they would just focus in Koyuki and Maho's relationship more then the band, because thats what sells :( this isent 2005 anymore, 2020 is quantity over quality for anime now :'( ' '
the pinnacle, the apex of music anime. Being someone who creates music myself, this anime hit so hard, especially this scene, which depicts how Koyuki brings together the entire band, even during the most desperate time.
Still my favorite anime. I've been a teen, in a band, and in love. BECK managed to capture so many of the feelings I had in those moments, and most importantly, the growing up part. The only unfortunate thing about this masterpiece is that we didn't get the rest of the story in an anime, but only the manga. It would've been as epic, if not more so. A true masterpiece.
Some of us will never forget this anime/manga!! Dang has it really be over 15 years!? This anime inspired me to pickup guitar when I was 15 years old and I'm happy to say I still play to this day. Never did get koyuki's telecaster though like I wanted but maybe one day.
DEN OF FLOWS A lot of people for some reason try to stray away from manga, and stick to anime. I did it for a while. I dont know if you do the same, but I suggest just starting the manga
I'm so glad I found this. I watched this as it originally came out, and the song is overdubbed and removed in later releases.. it's a different less quality song. this isn't even the original sequence it's so much longer. and drawing it out is so important to the story, and that this is the song matters to the respect the artists had to music history. Even as much as I want to watch the thing again as it was intended.. this still made me happy
He might not be a great singer.. but a great band isn't just the singer.. It's the Bass. The Drums. The Guitar. It's everything. I'll tell ya. When each member kicked in.. It felt.. Right. Can't get better than that.
It doesn't matter about the quality of the singing, as long as it just hits right in the heart, that's what matters. The singing is a bit meh because of accent, but man it is so fucking good feeling. I have a feeling listening to this, and it's a solid warm flame in my heart.
This actually got me into Beat Crusaders, the original band, a while back. I have to find some CDs or .mp3s of their stuff again, especially their covers. They did Instant Karma by John Lennon, and a really good version of Dancing Queen by ABBA, which is literally a rocking good time.
in the dub, instead of I've Got a Feeling, they cover Beat Crusader's 50c Wisdom and their version is now the only way ill listen to it. it also works a little better in the narrative since 50c Wisdom was the song that got Koyuki and Saku to start hanging out together.
My long lost favorite anime of all time. I was a kid when i first watched this, I found the title by chance on FB and now I'm here reminiscing my childhood.

fun thing. they didn't, they still did it anyways because copyright in Japan is wonky as hell. that's why they had to change the song up in the English version .
I am rewatching on Crunchyroll and it's a completely different song. Same chord progression I think but entirely different song. I think maybe official Japanese licensing outside of Japan can't use it since the laws wouldn't protect outside of Japan.
Is it weird I kind of like this version better than the original Beatles versions? I find it just has a bit more fluidity to it than the original version. Plus all the instruments joining in 1 at a time makes for a cool set-up.

Both the English version and this one definitely have the emotion that the scene needed, doubt you can really go wrong with either, but you'll definitely get a better voice and tone in the English one, albeit with a different song that still holds the same punch.

Japan was really influenced by American and English rock. It's great that they chose this, of all Beatles songs, to be covered.
