I received an email last week offering 50% off service for my secondary Reginal Roam account, buy 3 months get 3 months free. We only use the roaming account for trips, so it wasn't worth it for us.
When the monthly rate drops, I'll buy in. The lower hardware cost is great, but I can't justify the monthly for our once a month that we would use it off-roading/overlanding
Yes, for the early adopters that made this happen and suffered all of the beta testing and deplorable speeds, but kept paying full price and waiting for the constellation to grow.
I waited 2 years and watched Ukraine get more units than my area. That was a time I had no Internet in my area....so got off the list. I think if you buy a Tesla, you should go to the top of the list....I only say that because I had one. Lol
@@jcristina While i really like my Starlink, it's my only option as i live out in the sticks. Fiber down the road is twice as fast and twice as cheap, but i've got what i've got 😁
@@jcristina Three years is too long. Signed up for $99, jacked up to $110 immediately and then $120, all while service is unreliable - sometimes downright terrible speeds during prime hours. They downgraded the advertised plans/minimum speeds, but they still aren't meeting these new, lower standards. They keep promising more satellites for better service, but I'm getting impatient. If T-Mobile opens up to me before Starlink drops the monthly subscription, I'll be moving on. I'd prefer to stay on Starlink to retain connection redundancy (my cellular service is with T-Mobile), but I'm paying a premium for service that isn't consistently better than my old DSL. Ugh.
Kit price reduction is welcome news for new users but wake me up when they slash monthly cost from $120/month to $60-$70. Now that will be something to get excited about..
@@jdstevens84 Yeah, just saw it the other day - great monthly cost, but no discount on the mini panel unfortunately: at least where I’m located. Still very tempting….
You keep teasing me with the “Price Cut” headlines, only to find out it’s not for the monthly service. 😢. And, as an early adopter paying $599 for equipment still hurts. But I love Starlink, love Elon, and love all the great information and insight you continue to provide. Thank you!
Hoping we see the monthly come down in the not so distant future.. BUT... Remember.. If people are willing to pay the $120, the price is less likely to change.
I'm with you. I'd like the monthly cost to come down. I'm good with the current price for Standard service. However, if it were a bit less I'd be happier. How about $100? Or $90?
@@jcristinaYes, the market will bear the cost. However, it would be awesome if they could cut it a bit. As far as getting a new kit, I'm not a fan, as what I have still works. As for the monthly service charge, I don't have another choice.
👍 However, from $599 to $199 per dish, I'm waiting for $99 for the dish and $99 each month! That's the current-day sweet spot ... and plenty enough to thwart off any attempt from Kuiper!
The money is in the monthly subscriptions It’s to their advantage to make the price of their equipment cheaper or say free with a minimum subscription A lot of people can not afford a 200 to 500 dollars for the privilege to receive a monthly subscription service The main revenue comes from the monthly subscriptions fees
I got mine earlier (2 gen). we are off grid, and everything is done through the starlink. The phone and the internet are on it.Been very happy with it.
I agree with some of the other viewers with lowering the price for those that has been around from the beginning or at lest has a version 2 dish. It would be nice. Hell even making it a flat $90 or $100 a month.
J I am a lucky one that got fiber plowed up to my house in northern Minnesota. Just want to thank you again for all the videos that I watched while I had my Starlink up and running. I will still be peaking in on your channel now and again. Thanks Harold Moon Proud to be a Navy vet
I live in Jamaica, which is on the hurricane belt, so I got StarLink a year ago to backup my fiber network. I am so glad I did, because hurricane Beryl hit us taking out a good portion of our electric grid and network infrastructure. As of today, it has been 27 days now that I have lost my landline, cable and internet. although cell service was restored a couple of weeks ago, it still feels like we are on 3g network...I have seen the price drop in my monthly bill, and I may end up purchasing another kit to help out my family members that's outside of the cell and broadband coverage area, especially if the equipment cost has gone down. Thank you for always keeping us informed.
Reducing the monthly service fee would make a huge difference. Or figure out a way to piggy back terrestrial tv access alongside the starlink spot beam. Wiping out Dish & DirecTV would be appreciated.
Dish Network is the least crappy of the streaming services. Armed with Surfshark ( I guess any VPN would do ) I beat the spot beam / Local DMA restrictions. so I can watch newa, soie=rtsm etc in other markets.
I guess I'm thinking more old school sat style, a type of bent pipe spot beam that carried local TV channels or just some other remote capabilities would be a dream come true, maybe a satellite game camera on steroids would be useful for my rural loc.
Just ordered it for my dad a few days ago for 199. Supposed to arrive tomorrow. Here in Southern Idaho, internet is expensive and slow. He has been paying $130 per month for almost 20 years to get 1.5mbps DSL through CenturyLink. I finally convinced him to switch to Starlink last week. To be honest 120 per month isnt THAT bad considering the infrastructure that had to be put into place to make it work. Broadband in my part of the country is insanely expensive. I live in town and pay $90 per month for 300MB/s cable internet and i have a 700GB data cap, and get charged $10 per 100gb when i go over. It's ridiculous but it's literally the best deal around my area.... I have friends that live in urban areas that say they pay 40-50 bucks a month and have gigabit speeds with no data cap. Holy shit, I wish!
Ha! I'm in southern Oregon, I dumped Century Link for Starlink about a month ago. Got rid of my landline too. It's all good. Nice on you to help out your dad.
Last month I picked up the mini to use on a houseboat at Lake Powell and Lake Don Pedro and even used it at Rubicon Springs in the middle of nowhere on the way through Rubicon 4x4 trail. If you already have Starlink at home it was only $30 more monthly. There is a fixed amount of GB then a charge if you use more. So nice to stay connected when that remote. One man camped nearby had his Dad go into the hospital just before leaving who was recovering from a stroke, he was able to check in with him. It is well worth $360/yr even if its only used a hand full of times in remote locations for emergencies, work and/or family. I've already used it 20 days and have 15 more days planned so that's approximately $10/day. Less than the airlines charge for connectivity on flights for a few hours.
I'm currently in Mexico using Starlink, it's already like $65/month for service down here. If Starlink is knocking down the price even more, i would be even happier. Speaking of Mexico, I had read that Starlink was collaborating with Mexico's CFE to bring internet to the most rural of places. The current and soon outgoing government of President AMLO has been bringing free internet to the poorest communities. There I was with my family visiting this small town up in the mountains of Oaxaca. We stopped to get some snacks and drinks at a local shop. I looked at my phone to see if I had any service when I notice I'm connected to WiFI. So I go to my phone's settings to see what WiFi i'm connected to and its showing Starlink. I'm like miles away from MY Starlink, so i'm a lil confused. I step out onto the street and start looking around to see if there's a home with Starlink, and lo and behold, I spot a Starlink dish attached to a light pole with a sign from CFE stating it's free internet for the community.
Looks like in Eastern Canada the version 3 is all that's available - New $499 CAD, or refurb for $299 CAD. Great news for those "select" markets in the US. - Cheers!
Rural data lines have just been installed in my neighborhood; The basic data service starts at 25.00/month, odds are dropping Starlink will be my best option.
As of 9/12/2024 in Central Oregon the standard was $299 and the mini $599. Looks like we missed the big discount window. Hoping the price of the Mini goes way down. Also roaming unlimited was $165 which, to me, is still a bit pricey. Thanks for info. You're putting out good info.

This is still the old ‘razor (hardware) vs blade (monthly charge) game’ will What will Elon choose to do with the SL ‘profit?! You listening Elon? A modest rate cut would help ensure customer loyalty. Given SL’s cell build out big rate cuts are available and ensure significant competitive advantage. Thanks JC for your continued coverage!
that's crap for us that has been here since the beginning and still paying 120 a month, we need some kind of discount or something. we still get under 4g speeds and outages every night between the hours of 11pm and 3 am
I have starlink in the Philippines, my god its a blessing. Starlink is faster than almost any carrier out here. Starlink will definitely change the tech world in the Philippines for the good.
Unfortunately it's not reducing the monthly price so I will be pausing my service in favor of the cheaper but way faster T-mobile 5G that just opened up at my address. I have been testing it out all week and I get 450-600 mbps down and 30-50 up with latency around 15-21 ms. Starlink was a great bandaid for the last couple of years, and I am still rooting for them and not counting them out.
The day they make monthly fee cheaper I may consider switching from fiber, which costs me $122 a month. If SpaceX ever comes down to say $69.95 a month, or less, I would consider saving that $50 a month for slow but usable service, since right now every penny helps me to stay going in California, where costs are crazy to just get by.
SL shouln't be an alternative to fiber. For people in rural areas where landline providers tell is to use dial-up, or WISP providers can't provide more than 5Mbps speeds, SL is great at only $120. Launching all those satellites costs a lot more money than laying cables in utility easements. There are plenty of providers in cities that charge under $50 per month for gigabit fiber internet, because fiber is low maintenance. Any fiber providers charging $120 per month are either trying to expand service area quickly, or making big profit like Xfinity, or maybe they dropped a lot of fiber way out to a community (very lucky) and want to make that money back. Once that fiber line is laid, it is good unless physically damaged (mark before you dig), increasing its capacity from 1gbit to 400gbit is possible with today's technology, and it will be compatible with whatever speeds they get up to 30 years from now.
The system price I could handle. But the price/speed rario is wayyy too costly. I get 1Gb ftber from Frontied (neè FiOS) for $80. Have 99.5 dependable, does not fail during power outages like Speculum Cable next doo.... NEXT!
Dang, I was just at Starlink before getting on RUclips. Still the same prices for me here in Missouri. I'd consider the upgrade if that price was available to me.
My OG beta dishy is still working great and I never used the AP/router for my house WiFi. I bought Eero mesh devices. So, I'm just sitting back and waiting for now and will maybe go to the v5 dish. 😉😜
We were signed up for Starlink, but fiber became available 7 months later. Starlink was finally available a year after we signed up, which was too late. But Optimum rates rise every year, so we may eventually switch to St.arlink
I’m not as concerned with the unit price as much as the recurring monthly cost. $199 equipment cost is nice, but get the monthly cost down to $60 - $80 per month and I’m in.
Starlink nz cost my wife and I $159nzd a month, and the Gen 2 dish cost $299 nzd on special down from $600 nzd I doubt they will drop the price.. standard fibre here in nz is about $60 nzd a month for unlimited no speed cap
Thanks for the information. We live in Central Florida and have the Gen 2 on a roam service for our RV, but would love to see if we can add a new gen system for use at a fixed location. I wonder how you would do that having two different dishes and routers on the same plan? Think I would have to set up another plan for the home service?
I was on the waiting list for years and ended up paying $699 about a year and a quarter ago, the first month they raised the price to $120, the price for upgrading their router to version 3 is $250. Is it cheaper to get a whole new system for less than the price of upgrading to a new router??
I live in Northern nm and have had starlink for 1.5 years. It's literally my only option for usable internet. I average ~ 250mb/s with a gen 2. I highly recommend it, especially with the lower cost of the equipment
It's still $499 in my area West Alabama, and still $120 per month, no perks for loyalty is no positive news here. Ordered 8/16/2021 got a Gen 2 ,total out of pocket was $655.91 with a supposed $99 per month when I ordered it. Waited till 10/3/2022 for it, went up to $110 before i even got it, 8 months later it went to $120. Put a bad taste in my mouth all the way around. I'm still fluctuating on speeds, just tested on the phone app at 89 down and 18 up, laptop on Ookla says 111/22, probably averaging110-130 with a little over 20 up consistently. Pop's in Atlanta, I'm sure I need to tweak things, it's been awhile But trust me as soon as something better comes along I'll probably be outta here! Btw I still live in the sticks so I'm stuck for the time being.
While I like to save money, if they lower the price and start getting bunch of city dwellers switching over from landbased internet tech, that will slow down SL service. Adding capacity is a vastly different cost for the providers. SL has to pay millions to launch a few dozen new satellites. Any fiber provider can upgrade the capacity of a single fiber cable from 10gbit to 100gbit for just a few thousand dollars. On customer lines, anything under 10gbit is either just a few hundred dollars, or a simple config change because the equipment was in place years ago.
I cannot carry the dish and all the peripherals when I traveI! I need something portable and light to carry with me when I move around. With this challenge, I am looking forward for the availability of PORTABLE starlink POCKET WIFI I can carry and use anywhere. If this gadget is made available in public, I will surely be the first to have it ASAP!
What difference does it make where you use for the average user? Mini or no mini I should be able to use it on my rv anywhere. I mean I PAID the money.
Just signed up for fiber at my rural home! Install soon. Will keep starlink as backup since we are also hurricane prone. Wish I could trade for the mobile kit, as we camp too.
I'm in Winter-Haven, just 25 miles west of Orlando. Yes, I would pay $199 for a Starlink kit, and purchase monthly service. I am watching and waiting. 😁
i have the gen 2 dish that i got early as soon as i could like you did and still pay $120 getting my connection from dallas texas i still love starlink
I paid $500 for Gen 3 and paying $150 a month for roam plan . I love my Starlink . I live in a RV 4 months out of year. If it wasn’t for Starlink I wouldn’t have any internet since I’m out in a rural campground. I put the dish on the ground pointing north and had instant internet. It’s absolutely amazing.
Well this past Month moved my Starlink first release to the Campground we stayed at for 2 weeks and it was flawless. In my area in Canada we are pretty open in the Western Provinces so no worry in moving it about. Was really great moving my home office to a gem of a Provincial campground in the mountains of BC! Just entered address change both times and about 15-20 minutes I was up and running about how long it took me to setup dishy.
I really am excited about the mini for camping, but $600 for the hardware is steep. I'd love to have internet on the Mogollon Rim, but I'm not sure I'm $600 in love with the idea.
Wish they would reduce the monthly bill. In my remote rural area (mountains of E. TN) they've recently installed fiber! It's not operational yet but it promises to be cheaper than 120/month. I wonder if this is a federal program aimed at undermining Starlink and Elon Musk. Hmmm.
I would like to know about the use of the "Mini" Starlink dish on a cruise ship balcony room........versus paying the cruise lines high price for "streaming" internet.
Live on a boat. $2500 for the dish and 200per month. It went up to $400 so I moved to a $250 per month package that is pretty much useless because you can’t turn on or off priority data. The price and the huge power it needs to run means I went back to cell at $60 per month. I couldn’t justify the power and cost. Too bad really.
I am in western Colorado and was a very early user and still use the original round McDish. Monthly cost started at $90.00 usd and now up to $120.00. I always loved the performance of the original, and wondering if upgrading to a newer version would be a benefit?
I bought starlink online and shipped it to Florida where my son lives and he shipped it to me in Jamaica but the starlink is restricted in in Jamaica when I set it up. How can I get starlink to be registered even though did not buy from the website?
Wow this is amazing news but how about cutting the cost of the monthly fee? Id happily pay $599 for the kit and the monthly fee should be around $75 even as low as $50.
The gen2 i waited over two years for has heat flaw and should have been upgraded long ago. Constantly contacting them. My doctors router actually melted. They not interested. They will be forced to lower monthly fees in Louisiana as they finally got the government rural internet money and they have laid gigabit fiber everywhere. Way out in ctry where i live. Price is 99 to 110 for gigabit. So for starlink stay in business here they must lower price. Probably month out, i literally can't wait. That is ninevtimes faster than whatvi am getting with starlink. Interested, did anyone in other states see this dumping of rural internet govt money?
My parents got a good deal with the rural internet gov money. A local company laid fiber out to a small town, 85 homes, it was 14 miles from the town the company is based in, but 170 miles from the only big city nearby. They only pay $55 per month for gigiabit. I'm gealous because they are a three hour drive away from Omaha, with no cities larger than 10k people within 60 miles. Yet for me in a community of 500 people, just 6 miles from a tourist town with 3500 residents and about 4k hotel rooms, and just 30 miles from a city of 85k people, our local providers can't do any better than 5Mbps down 1Mbps up.
Kit is $299 till October 5th in Wisconsin. When i tested them for my county, they were way overloaded, speeds were poor and buffering for live events I used in business buffered more than dsl. Not sure how they are now, this was 15 months ago.
It would have been MUCH BETTER if they had cut the price of the monthly service. The cost of the equipment pales in comparison to the monthly cost of the service, which is why I cancelled Starlink and switched back to Dish.
I ordered like a week ago when they still had the 12month financing plan and at $299, I messaged them about the new $199 price and said I did not feel like sending it back just to order again so they said they would give me credit on my bill to cover the price difference. So that was nice of them I guess
I travel in an RV for 6 months of the year. I'd upgrade to V4 for $249 if I could find it for that. I currently have V2 and sometimes it's a pain to have to point my dish to the north to get connected.
Sure that’s great and all, but I was never really worried about that upfront “ONE TIME” equipment fee(keeps the congestion down a bit too). It’s the monthly fee that hurts my wallet. I have paid that original $599 cost almost 7x over since I have had the system. That’s about $4,000 in sub cost, in just a little over 2 years😳(of course I am currently a roam customer). It’s what most companies do anyways. Give you the equipment cheap or free and then rake it in via service costs. It’s not a new concept.

Who cares about what the hardware cost? 60% price cut? How about the monthly fee of $120? I would like to them cut that.
Just purcahsed the Mobile Kit and the $50 Roam Plan.
@@jplewis01 Don't you already have to be paying the full monthly fee and the Roam Plan is a $50 addon?
I wish they would be more concerned with cutting the monthly cost of us loyal customers who have already had 2 price increases over the last 3 years
🚀
Yes, for the early adopters that made this happen and suffered all of the beta testing and deplorable speeds, but kept paying full price and waiting for the constellation to grow.
My first thought when I started watching this lol
I waited 2 years and watched Ukraine get more units than my area. That was a time I had no Internet in my area....so got off the list. I think if you buy a Tesla, you should go to the top of the list....I only say that because I had one. Lol
I'd think subscription service costs will drop in 3 yrs
Yeah, big deal to those of us with $500 systems. Drop that $120 a month price and i'll be impressed.
$120 should drop in the future.. Will be watching and reporting back.
@@jcristina While i really like my Starlink, it's my only option as i live out in the sticks. Fiber down the road is twice as fast and twice as cheap, but i've got what i've got 😁
150 for me
@@jcristina Three years is too long. Ugh.
I would gladly pay a higher price to tell Comcast to fuck off. I can't wait for starlink to come to my area
Kit price reduction is welcome news for new users but wake me up when they slash monthly cost from $120/month to $60-$70. Now that will be something to get excited about..
Absolutely! Great comment, my thoughts exactly!
Agreed....$70 a month for service would be competitive.
Check out the Starlink Mini. $50 per month for 50gb.
@@jdstevens84 Yeah, just saw it the other day - great monthly cost, but no discount on the mini panel unfortunately: at least where I’m located. Still very tempting….
I pay $120 a month, higher than I find desirable. Good to see discounts being offered to underserved areas. I would also like to add, **** Xfinity.
All good news, but still waiting/hoping for a monthly subscription cut.
🚀 yes
Lol. Me too
No choice here as well in the rural FL panhandle. I don’t consider Hughesnet a choice! 😂
👍 However, from $599 to $199 per dish, I'm waiting for $99 for the dish and $99 each month! That's the current-day sweet spot ... and plenty enough to thwart off any attempt from Kuiper!
The money is in the monthly subscriptions
It’s to their advantage to make the price of their equipment cheaper or say free with a minimum subscription
A lot of people can not afford a 200 to 500 dollars for the privilege to receive a monthly subscription service
The main revenue comes from the monthly subscriptions fees
Thats a variation of the oil lamp gambit. Make the lamp free but the oil to fuel it is sold at a premium.
dish == lamp,
service == fuel.
Thanks

🚀 I ditched DISH NETWORK after getting SpaceX Starlink 39 months ago..
Dish Network is the least crappy of the streaming services. Armed with Surfshark ( I guess any VPN would do ) I beat the spot beam / Local DMA restrictions. so I can watch newa, soie=rtsm etc in other markets.
Cable/ Satellite TV is not needed anymore. Streaming offers more at a lessor cost.
@@brandonmiller2812 We use DirectTV Stream with our home fiber service, but also on our Starlink G2 dish for our RV. Works GREAT!
I'm still with the gen 1 equipment that I've had since beta. It's been very reliable and I plan on sticking with it as long as it keeps working.
Reducing the monthly fee would be great but I really DON'T want to see more congestion and slower speeds.
Where in Oaxaca?

A modest rate cut would help ensure customer loyalty. Given SL’s cell build out big rate cuts are available and ensure significant competitive advantage. Thanks JC for your continued coverage!
Appreciate you being here Terry!
I am waiting for the Mini to drop in price. $599 is just a little too steep.

that's crap for us that has been here since the beginning and still paying 120 a month, we need some kind of discount or something. we still get under 4g speeds and outages every night between the hours of 11pm and 3 am
Ouch!
Did a Speedtest at 4am, didn’t think it was possible to get speeds over 200 but I somehow got 473 download. I am very impressed

I have starlink in the Philippines, my god its a blessing. Starlink is faster than almost any carrier out here. Starlink will definitely change the tech world in the Philippines for the good.
but its got to be cheaper a lot cheaper for most people.
I payed $199 2 years ago for the gen. 2 and it still works great but the monthly fees are still $157 of which is still to high in BC Canada.
Please provide your alternatives for internet and how much they cost.
(Because that’s your argument for why it’s too expensive, right?).
No discount in OH still 499 for residential.
😥
Same here, but will gladly pay IF I can find an un-obstructed view of the sky from my place. May have to go up 50'.
Good luck in The People's State of California
@@The_DuMont_Network I also heard they are losing businesses like crazy -- including SpaceX!
Thank you for keeping us informed... I am now also a $199 system owner... And I'm looking forward to any service price cuts they're willing to provide
I appreciate the information you provide. I just wish they would allow more data for the GEN2 dish without having to pay more.
🚀
The long term cost is what matters- the monthly fee is the factor.
🚀 good point
Cost is listed as $499 for outside Denver area. Just an FYI
I’m not as concerned with the unit price as much as the recurring monthly cost. $199 equipment cost is nice, but get the monthly cost down to $60 - $80 per month and I’m in.
The discount wasn’t available in southern Kentucky two weeks ago. It was today! I ordered, but I have no idea what version I’m getting.
Starlink nz cost my wife and I $159nzd a month, and the Gen 2 dish cost $299 nzd on special down from $600 nzd
I doubt they will drop the price.. standard fibre here in nz is about $60 nzd a month for unlimited no speed cap
Of note. Starlink Mini for me in CO is still showing full price when I try to add it on to our residential plan. 😢😢😢
And as of this morning it's still $499 in Alaska....
$499 in east Texas, too.

Thank you!
I would quite enthused with $60/month
My friend just got Starlink in Bali. $45 a month and the dish cost $350
It will help me if they lower the monthly price. At 150 would love it if we can get under100 a month.
As a Starlink user I appreciate your videos! Thank You I hope they reduce my $150 a month. I'm retired and could use a break.
Thanks!
Mark. Thank you for your support and kindness. It’s truly appreciated. Blessings to you and your family.
Im in Arizona and I checked, and I see the $199 offer, $120mo for subpar service still isnt worth it..
Subpar? Have had mine for 3 years and no issues. This is by far the best service I've ever had in my current area.
They still require some tilt to keep away from Geo Stationary K Bands on the Equator I'm told...

Buying my kit today 😃

I really am excited about the mini for camping, but $600 for the hardware is steep. I'd love to have internet on the Mogollon Rim, but I'm not sure I'm $600 in love with the idea.
Holding out for the roaming option as I live in my RV and follow the 70° weather.
👍

Great video, I am hoping on a price drop for the roaming, great show thanks
🚀 Yes... I would like to see $120 or $110
It would have been MUCH BETTER if they had cut the price of the monthly service.
That alone gives Karma for ongoing business relationship
Thanks I may buy it now.
Hope you enjoy it!
The cost isnt going down monthly it has gone up from $100 to $120 iver the pass year.
(Q). Do you think the $120.00 for home service will go down? Thanks ken
I do.. Watch my video on MONDAY.
The standard kit is 99 dollars now for my area Newfoundland Canada.
