What really makes this set cozy is having it inside a cave.
You know, feels like the designers actually played the game (I'm sorry if that's offensive to any designer's job). Like, we have a yellow bed probably stole from the next village, a humble cave to spend the night or to just have a base to mine diamonds (used for the sword); everyone sure has made their base inside a mountain at least once, even if you're just tired of Creepers.
They still blew up this base but you get what I mean! It's simple and just like the Sword outpost, relatable to everyone on their playthrough.
That's a great point! The story here is so relatable. The cave is nice and comforting, even in all its simplicity.
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@CheeseyStudios
I'm really excited by the concept of dyed armor finally coming to the theme. Something like pink or dark blue armor can make builds so much more colorful and bright.
I thought it was emerald armor
@@DarkWolf65865 I agree with you, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be an emerald armor, considering the biome and the fact that there is a emerald ore in the set
I thougt it was turtleshell armor🐢
@@johnh.2028 lego minecraft doesnt do any modded stuff like that tho. And sure dungeons has emerald armour but this isnt a dungeons set. So it is supposed to be green leather. However it can be whatever you like. The diamond armour could also be blue leather armour, the enchanted armour can also be magenta leather armour.
@@maino-naise I do believe they used the same color for the turtle helmet..
It would've definitely be better if the stray got a cape of some sort
It's such a weird omission. Surely it's much easier to get the fabric piece in a set like this? Hopefully when we see the stray next we get the cape!
It may even be a good idea to grab a piece of gray paper and cut out a stray "cloth" yourself. Its what i am probably going to do
@@CheeseyStudios what if Lego made player capes?
I wished that they at least put the cloth in there as an extra peice. I feel scammed.
Lego has seemed to be avoiding making capes and other paper/fabric accessories lately
It's pretty nice to see so many tiled off blocks, even if it's just for a snowy effect.
Can never have too many 2x2 tiles! Would love to start seeing this for at least some grass too, but I'm not quite sure that'll happen.
@@CheeseyStudios Yeah, they seem very reluctant to, presumably for playability or cost.
Still, as a sucker for accuracy it's nice to see, and it's visually nice too.
I’m honestly quite disappointed about the stray not having a cloth cape this time :( . Let’s hope they add that if we get him again.
I sure hope so too. The cape alone is like $3 on Bricklink... yikes. Might as well make your own for that price!
They probably just had the stray wear the chest piece for that one time and will bring it back
The running theme of this wave seems to be amazing concepts with decent execution for a slightly overshot price. I think 5 or 10 bucks off each set would make a world of difference on how anticipated these are.
100% agree. I mean, historically LEGO sets have never been sold at increments of $5. It's always been $10. Seeing sets now priced at $25, $35, $45, and $65 instantly makes me feel that they're overpriced, like that $5 was tacked on at the last minute. And I'm pretty sure it was...
The green armor is interesting. I’m gonna use it as emerald armor personally since it’s the same color as the emerald ore from this set.
Yeah! I think a lot of people will really like the option to do that. That's the beauty of LEGO - it can be whatever you want it to be!
The leggings and the chestplate are not in the game but the helmet is a turtle shell helmet
Love the "vibe" this set gives. The tiles over surface gives me official Mojang art vibes.
Also would definitely like to see more terrain based sets.
There's so many terrain opportunities for some great sets. I think the biggest one they're missing out on is a mesa/badlands biome. mAYBe theY'd ReINtroduce SaND RED/?!??!
@@CheeseyStudios That would be sick!
Speaking of chain mail, I do think it is possible for us to get one, because they showed that they can print checkered patterns with this wave’s jukebox. Definitely looking forward to this wave.
I feel the sets keep just getting better!
The revival of the Stray is so exciting, I wasn’t able to get my hands on one back in the day
Very happy he's back! Probably my favorite LEGO Minecraft mob. Though next time, I hope it comes with that cape piece!
I like that the emerald ore in this set is the same colour as the armour, so if you were a kid that didn't care you can imagine it to be emerald armour, and if you do care about the accuracy it can be dyed leather.
LEGO's all about creativity, so I love that idea!
yeaa my instant thought when he said "an easy way to make the armor type known" (i forget the exact words) was to have a cauldron. but like you say it does give an aspect of imagination
I’m so stoked about this wave I think because of more of these terrain based sets. Having missed out on the 2014 era minecraft waves, I always find myself yearning about being able to pick up some of those sets at retail price and really experience them and have them as part of my collection. Sure some of the builds of the past few waves have been cool and creative and all, but as someone most interested in minecraft moccing, I somehow find it more difficult to pick up sets like the fox lodge and the training grounds and be as invested in them even if I got them on sale, than some of the terrain based ones (truly the ruined portal stands out to me as one of the best sets I’ve purchased especially considering it’s often discount price). I like seeing ideas for how to represent the natural features of minecraft in lego as other than a select few youtubers such as yourself and the lego designers, pretty much no one else online seems to be putting forth designs and ideas for these.
I also am super excited about this wave’s method of working play inhabitents into the terrain in a way that feels organic and true to minecraft, such as this set or the previous one you reviewed. I have so many player figures and I feel like I never know how to incorporate them, but these two sets have suddenly given me so many thoughts. The price point hurts a little bit, but I truly think I will have more fun and appreciation for overpaying a bit on this set, than some of the other previous player build sets like the fox lodge and others. Idk I’m super stoked and cannot wait to use my christmas money on the sets in this wave!
There is something quite special about this wave! I'm glad you've picked up on it too, and I think you hit the nail on the head. These builds (especially this one and the Sword Outpost) just feel so authentic to the Minecraft experience. The people at LEGO have definitely been playing the game, and have brought their experiences to their designs. It's great to see!
First of all, more terrain sets would be great, as it helps to provide inspiration for people creating a Lego Minecraft World MOC like me and Cheesey and LS Motion, and there is large amounts of regular terrain not dominated by structures in a regular Minecraft world. Secondly, the green helmet piece was already introduced with the Coral Reef to serve as turtle helmet, so there is some inconsistency there. Not sure whether this armour is bright green as it may just be the lighting in the vid, but the helmet from the Coral Reef is definitely regular green as I own that set myself. Interesting that Lego is now copying you (missed copyrighting opportunity!) but I quite like it in some ways! Very nice set, one of the better in this wave imo.
I forgot to make a point of it, but this armor set is the same color as the turtle armor, yeah. I was originally confused too!
I really think this set is just great. The feel of having a little base inside a cave is so amazing in my opinion, I think LEGO really did a good job on this set, it has a stray which is a pretty rare figure, I remember when I got the polar igloo how excited I was, and before this set was confirmed, I was worried that I would be stuck with one stray for a long time. The thing that does in a way get me a little angry, and confused, is that they didnt add a cloth to the stray, it has the exact same design as the one from the polar igloo, and I dont see why they had to not give it a cloth. Anyways great video as always! Excited for the mesa badlands update!
Thank you! It does certainly feel like the designers have been playing the game a lot more, and infusing the player experience into their sets!
Considering how popular minecraft is, i would love to see something similar to the starwars ucs sets. Like imagin being able to buy a full to scale bastion or just like smaller 20 dollar small sets with just a bunch of mob minis.
That would be amazing! We haven't gotten a Minecraft D2C since 2016. Would love to see another.
Man it's still unfortunate that the stray didn't get a cape and at first I was also worried that the green leather helmet was going to blend in with the turtle helmet because I thought that they were going to be the same colour, but from what I can see the leather armour is bright green while the turtle helmet is regular green, so that is a good thing In my opinion, though I still think that the leather armour is missing some printing
It actually turns out both the turtle armor and the leather set here are bright green 😬
@@CheeseyStudios oh well that's a bummer😬
I definitely feel more heart was put into this set than previous ones. The design and look of it makes it feel like the designer(s) really thought about how the player got to where they were. I feel like this wave of sets focus more on what players actually build and do in a Minecraft world. I really like the way Lego is designing for their Minecraft sets, and I hope they continue this trend.
Agreed! It feels so authentic.
Very excited you’re doing these reviews again, early impressions of the value is fantastic!
My goal is to do all the LEGO Minecraft sets from now on! Glad to know these reviews are appreciated :D
thats my fav set from the release i love how its just so cozy
It is! I like the idea of the temporary cave house a lot. We've all been there!
I’d 100% pick this up if the stray had its cape but man, LEGO really seems to be pushing it with what they can get away with price wise… hey wait! What are those sand structures behind you?? 👀👀
O_O
its nice to get a more terrain based set especially in the sea of different structures, it makes your lego minecraft world feel clutter and to busy, there isn't any room to breath.
Yeah! I hope LEGO does more sets like this. Would love to see their take on the Badlands!
@@CheeseyStudios We technically got the wandering trader set with a part of the badlands in it it.
honestly one of the most interesting new 2023 sets I've seen
that green armor will definitely go for 30 bucks after a few years
...
still haven't found the leather armor I had sadly.
Ripperoni. I do hope they re-introduce it in the summer. Something tells me we'll be seeing other colors before that though xD
So good that our first 2023 set came out. They have more dyed armor which can be confused of emerald armor. I hope lego MINECRAFT make the dyed armor have brown layer which can make the figure look nice! Thank you for be the first person who tried first set! :)
I hope they add some more leather-like features in the future too!
In my opinion is this set the best from this wave, I love the tiling on the ice and the little tree (it also reminds me of your work he he)
Ha! I kinda thought so too :)
I would love more terrain sets! finding a crazy ravine or huge mountain and building a cool base there is my favourite part of minecraft
I know, right? Always gotta find that perfect building spot.
I'd love to see you do redesigns of offical sets, where you try to make everything to your dioramas scale
Hopefully with this new upcoming batch of sets I'll have the time to give it a go!
I want to make a huge LEGO Minecraft maquete. With ALL the sets and extra pieces, including fixing some of them with a 3D printer, like that fox that looks like a cat.
That could be pretty cool!
We need another stronghold, maybe as part of a large mountain with multiple cave types at a similar scale to the mountain cave
Yes! We're so overdue for a Stronghold set.
Its almost a crime that we dont get leather armour at all this is the second time. Unless you perhaps count enchanted armour as magenta dyed leather armour.
The stray in this set is great unfortunately i missed out on the last set it came in, as i was just getting back into lego minecraft after it came out.
Either way the stray is one of my favorite hostile mobs for some reason. The ice skeleton with the herobrine eyes. Lol
Shame it doesnt have the cloth piece,
Am probably going to end up cutting a piece of grey paper into the stray cloak.
Also love the feature with the goat its just lovely.
I like that the tree is covered in snow, its a small detail that goes a long way in my opinion.
Hope we see more terrain sets like this in the future, there is plenty of things they can do.
I'm tempted to cut some cloth pieces too. Makes me wish I had one one of those Cricut things - that would be perfect xD
@@CheeseyStudios gmm
Im a bit disappointed the dyed leather armor doesnt have any prints, but i guess that would be too much
Also i love the sneaky attempt by lego of using armor to hide the fact that they probably dont have the machine that made the stray clothing anymore, instead just re-using gold armor
I still would like to hold LEGO to that in the future, at the very least for the pants. Prints on leather helmets and chestplates would be amazing too though!
The glow liken glows with the smooth studs
I wish it did! I feel that would have been easy enough for LEGO to add.
Every time I watch this guy it makes me want to do something with my legos. Cheese deserves way more subscribers
Appreciate it! ❤
dang.. the glow lichen not using GitD round tiles is a bit of a shame. one of the better looking sets overall tho, even if it's not entirely game-accurate!
I hadn't even thought of that! Does seem like an easy missed opportunity
You know what's weird about this set? Apparently, where I live, everyone is selling the set at cheaper prices expect LEGO.
Now, keep in mind that in Romanian LEGO Store this set cost 39 euros (an adutional 4 dollars...), but even that considered, the pricess are still lower that the 35 dollars in US in other places.
At an Auchan, I found this set at 29 euros (15% off in US, 23% off in Romania); at a Carrefour, I found this set at 22 euros (38% off in US, 42% off in Romania). Not sure about the Carrefour price, but the set at Auchan wasn't on clearance.
I had heard that this was pretty common practice in some countries. It's a really weird strategy for sure, but I'm glad it's relatively easy to find the set at some decent prices!
Definitely excited for this one. Might pick two up to help out with my custom minecraft mountain
That could be awesome! It's a great parts pack for sure.
Terrain based sets. I just like them so much better. When I try to connect all my sets together, I want so terrain, not just a bunch of massive animals towering over the land.
Agreed
I predicted a giant snowy mountain for this season's $100+ MC set to celebrate Caves & Cliffs, but I'm glad we got this one instead. It captures everything I wanted from a large set on a smaller scale
That's a good way of looking at it! I honestly can't think of anything major we're missing from the update at this point
These videos are so great! I can’t wait for the deep dark battle!
Thank you! I'm excited for that one too. Hopefully it comes early, but we'll see!
If I see this some day, I will pick it up, has Nice play functions, looks like a great build and will look good on the shelf, great job Lego
This wave is really great!
Leather Armor should have printing on them because it just looks like modded emersld armor.
I wish it had printing too :c
“This time we get green which makes sense because it’s the least likely to be confused with other sets of armor that we’ve already seen”
Turtle shell:
Well, it's not much of an armor SET though, rather just a single piece.
@@CheeseyStudios I guess you’re right
Might have to pick up this set just for the dyed armor. As someone who plays a lot of Hypixel Skyblock, I need that as Emerald Armor for a possible sb-related build
Ayo, love to hear you're a Skyblock player xD
Do you think Lego would ever produce a second helmet piece without the center prong to make it look more like the leather helmet/turtle helmet?
Honestly, not a chance. I'm not sure the change is significant enough to be worth creating the new mould (in their eyes at least.) I'd love to see it, but I don't believe it'll happen.
they really should so that enchanted varients can exist also need netherite in magea
Do you think there would be a time in the future where you modify sets like this to make them as game-accurate as possible?
I would like to do that at some point! Maybe even with one of the sets from this wave. I'll see if I have the time!
This is probably one of the best minecraft waves
Totally. Love where they're taking the theme!
Cow still is the most exclusive of basic mobs, I find it very interesting :D
I feel it's been quite some time since we saw a cow now! Hopefully one shows up in the summer wave
I will try to colect all the wave i do have The Frozen peaks,The swamp adventure,The sword outpost
This set would be a great character/medium blue pack, if it wasn't so expensive!
Yeah... 😭 Praying for that 20% off discount on Amazing soon
@@CheeseyStudios that certainly would be Amazing
I like how many ice bricks there are here. Good for new displays or displayed by itself.
It's a pretty solid parts pack all things considered! You pick up two or three of these at a discount and you've got yourself a pretty nice mountain I bet.
Hi Mr Cheese, I think an interesting idea for the lego Minecraft mocs is that since the sets all have that explosion feature, you could try adding a feature to one of your modules with a TNT or creeper explosion, but instead of breaking off a structure like the sets it makes a Minecraft accurate crater, maybe even breaking into individual blocks. It’s probably very hard and also low priority but it would look really cool and be a funny nod to the sets.
I do a little explosion module planned for some time next year :)
It’s really cool to see how far the Minecraft theme has come.
Indeed. I honestly can't believe it's still even around xD Glad it is though!
If they did chainmail armor they could make it clear pieces with the printing of the texture on the outside and itd actually be extremely accurate to the in-game version
That would look really cool if they did it right!
@@CheeseyStudios theyve done way more complicated prints on starwars and marvel stuff if it was in an expensive set im sure they could
next video that has a minecraft goat in it, put a Minecraft goat scream pls.
LOL good idea
My first thought at seeing the green armor was creatives choice emerald armor.
A lot of people have been saying it could be emerald armor, and hey, why not?
Your vids are so chill 👍 u should add that goat feature to ur Minecraft layout and perhaps the creeper one or does that take away from the look you are going with?
I bet I could fit the goat feature in somewhere pretty cleanly!
Steve rocking that emerald armour lol
He looks absolutely dashing in green lol
Grass armor
Finally lego giving this guy early lego sets :D
Big big big hypeeee
I would love to have 4 of those sets and make a igloo
That would be pretty sweet!
They could have put buttons on the chest plate and a brown stripe on the top of the helmet too
That would have been epic!
I bought both the snowy peaks and the skeleton dungeon on sale. I’m going to combine the two, the former on top of the latter
That sounds perfect!
Who else here thought when green leather armor was introduced it was actually emerald armor
You definitely weren't alone! Lots of people were confused by that, ha! Of course, it can be emerald armor if you'd like it to be.
Suggestion for your Minecraft world: can you add a stronghold? (Specifically the portal room, if you haven’t thought about it or added it already)
Definitely on the to-do list, don't worry!
Okay but is nobody going to mention that the explosion piece looks like among us?
Oh dear 😂
I hope with the launch of Minecraft: Legends that they maybe make some sets from that genre of miencraft
That could be kinda fun!
I personally dislike the inclusion of emerald ore in the set as it only helps to fuel the confusion on the seemingly emerald armor Steve is wearing.
I do wonder if that was intentional though xD Apparently a lot of people have wanted emerald armor.
It is confusing, but the emerald ore is quite rare, so I like it's inclusion
I miss when trees were transparent! I think they looked a lot cooler and helped it not look so flat. Bring back the transparent trees!!! :,(
I didn't realize that the Bee Cottage also doesn't have transparent leaves. That's too bad :c
@@CheeseyStudios It's a national tragedy.
Happy Halloween! I’m torn on which set I should get for the new wave. I’m waiting until you’re finished with these new waves to decide.
There's a lot to choose from for sure!
The printed knee pads would have looked really nice but I think Lego knows that this could be mistaken for emerald armor and that will definitely help sell the set to a lot of people who have always wanted that in the game, they even include an emerald ore in the set
I had no idea the emerald armor theory was so popular until I uploaded this video 😂
Looks like a great set! Thanks for the great video!
No problem! :D
Lego: Here is dyed lether armor!
Me: *EMERALD ARMOR LETS GOOOO!!!*
That definitely works too lolol
I think the green armor might also be emerald armor, as there is also an emerald ore included which I don´t know if we ever saw it before.
It can totally be that if you want it be be!
@@CheeseyStudios The dream of every Minecraft player: Emerald armor xD
The only thing that ticked me off is that the set looks more detailed than seeing it on the box.
Hey you remembered my comment on the cherries being berries from the other video lol, nice. Id like to see leather armor on mobs some more since its quite common, even if not so much for players. I do quite like the tnt being part of the explosion mechanic
I got pretty well roasted for that misstep in the comment section by many lol... But yeah, we need more leather armor. It's so crazy expensive and it should definitely be the most common in LEGO!
It's fun to see Green armour. Doubles up as a plethora of modded armours if people wanna try build crazier things with the theme.
People are very excited about it which is good to see!
I like to think its emerald armor that I thought was happening when I was a child
It can totally be if you'd like it to be!
Lego: “oh Microsoft, it’s TOTALLY Dyed armor”
Lego to fans: *puts emerald ore in set for the creativity*
Hehe
0:09 i dont know why, but my set has a bigger wall thingy, the jumper plate is not exposed. Still a great set
I may have built it wrong 🤣
@@CheeseyStudios I built it wrong, I forgot a page or 2 and I just put together like that
Always great to see the new drip stone Spikes !
I do really like how they designed those!
Agreed
I think the inclusion of emerald ore might have pushed people into thinking it was emerald armor
Definitely could have played a part!
Imagine if lego reveals that the dyed leather armor is actually emerald XD
I think the idea is that it can probably be whatever you want it to be!
I just got this Lego set and I got it on January 1 at target of all places like what
Oh nice! I should have checked my Target yesterday. I still need a few of the small sets
This seems like it would look really good next to the skeleton dungeon
Yeah! I bet you could even mod it to go underneath
i am a proud owner of the set with the stray in it, and the other igloo set... and also the ice spikes set
All great sets!
@@CheeseyStudios yessirrr, i regret never getting the jungle temple set now lol
@@jjsanimations Same here 😪
When does the badlands expansion video come out 😅, I keep checking RUclips everyday. Just thinking of becoming a member
It might be a bit yet - it's been a very busy month! Always available as early access though xD
@@CheeseyStudiosThank you for all your hard work, don’t mean to rush you or anything. Love your channel and appreciate everything you do!
i thout that it was emerald armor. they should add a leather colored stripe on the helmet like in the game to avoid confusion
Agreed. It would look so cool like that too!
Did you also get the Ancient City set early? And are you the guy from Lego Masters? I think I've seen you before! I love your Lego Minecraft Customs Series! Lego Masters should really make a Video Game based episode.
I have not received the Deep Dark Battle set sadly. But I am from LEGO Masters! LM was actually the reason I started this channel ruclips.net/p/PLsKt5PwQV-mM6KrvPJDLtygwXGVUgfxmx
The Lego stray is such a cool figure; I did buy one. Agree about the gold armour seeming to be a downgrade.
He's pricey on the aftermarket, but definitely worth it!
thoughts on buying this or the skeleton dungeon for parting out?
It's a great parts pack imo. I think you'll be able to use a lot of the pieces for custom stuff!
I thought Steve was wearing emerald armour 💀
Don't worry, you're definitely not alone there xD It can be emerald armor if you'd like it to be!
Me looking at the armor
My brain: emerald armor
It definitely can be emerald if you want it to be 😅
Did anyone see the desert village moc in the background at 6:42? BTW, great minecraft lego review!
Glad some people are noticing that - ha! Thank you :D
Would you make a video on that moc?
@@Puncake11 It's already in the works :D
Very nice thx for the quick response
i thought he was wearing emerald armor for a sec
Don't worry, you aren't alone xD
I love this set, but the only thing that disappoints me is the stray cloth not being there
Agreed :c
Judging but the title, "frozen peaks" it's the armor feels like the turtle armor from minecraft dungeons. I believe frozen peaks is a title to one of dungeons DLCs.
That could be. There was a lot of speculation when the set name leaked that it would be a Dungeons related set. I'm guessing it was the designers intent to kind of leave it open to interpretation.
Leather for snow
I really like this set! If it were just five dollars cheaper I think I'd pick it up, but I might have to pass this time around. Then again, getting a stray... aghh, these prices make these choices tough!
Hopefully it'll be on sale before too long. I'd definitely recommend waiting it out. Who knows, we might get a proper Stray, cloth piece and all, this summer!
Am I the only one who thought it was emerald armor at first?
Definitely not xD That seems to have been a very popular theory!
Dude I found this at Target and Got sooooo Excited, but when I went to the checkout the cashier said we can’t buy this. I was so sad😢
Bruh 😞
Bro dropped it
everyone: leather armor me: Emerald Armor boii
Glad to see people are excited about the armor xD
A stay was included in the fox house
Maybe you're getting confused with the Drowned figure? brickset.com/sets/21178-1/The-Fox-Lodge
Ur right I’m sorry I’m hopefully just tired I watched it at like 9 and that’s early for me
I can't be the only one that thought that was emerald armour for a few seconds
Definitely not 😂 A lot of people have been confused on that one. You can certainly use it as emerald armor if you like though!
