Like my grandfather used to say: "I love work. I could watch it all day!" 😁 My oldest son just bought a '79 Firebird, and we'll have a bunch of rust repair to do. You and DD, and Bad Chad have all inspired me to help him in this project, and I will definitely be using your videos to help us get through the various problems we'll be facing. Great stuff, as usual
I've welded and done steel fab, as well as done mechanics for well over 20 years but very little sheet metal work. I think that type of work is a craft, and you are definatly one of the better ones on you tube. Most of the people doing sheet metal fab at your level are my age (57). You are amazing to watch I learn something from every video. Thanks for the awesome content Carl.
I'm really enjoying the way the Zephyr is coming along, the shape is fitting the window frame very nicely, nice curves, well shaped. I wish I could be there to run my hands over the lines. I really enjoy your form work. Thanks!
Hey Karl, This was one of the best videos you have put out ! I have seen guys try to make unusual corners and or bends in some screwed up way and the work they did looked screwed up. Your talent, wisdom and ability working metal is Master Craftsmanship. The parts you turn out are just so well done. You mentioned you might need a bit of Bondo for the finish but it looks to me like you will need very little if any at all. Maybe a little glazing putty and you got it ! I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for allowing us into your shop and life. Work Safe, Be Well Enjoy Life
I love your chaotic lawful approach. Like - you kinda go with whatever feels right to you but then you're super careful with whatever it is you've done
Dude I love your content and most of all the way you present it. I QUICK description of what youre going to do, then show a working view of the idea taking form. Nothing worse than listening to guys pontificate on a something to lengthen the video! Keep it up brother, amazing work!
Morning Karl, all I can say is "WOW", I've been a metal fabricator/machinist for 40+ years, I'm still learning, since I've been watching your videos (& a couple others) things like chopping tops etc. don't scare me, that's coming on my 31 A project, I will update you with some pics on Instagram soon
I never imagined a RUclips video could be suspenseful, but I am 11 minutes in and find myself on the edge of my seat nervous for how this is going to go. I trust all will be well because of your talent!
I love the look of a radically chopped car like that but my head is all but scraping the roof on most vehicles the way they are, and I don’t like having the seat super low either so I could never drive something like that but I really love how they look 👍
That’s true, but this type of work is not for most people. However there’s still a lot of people that can tell what’s under a paint job. It’s very difficult to hide good work
What an absolute JOY to see this build come along, can't wait for further updates and to see the holy grail finished. It just doesn't get any better than this!
How could you 'not' click on like and describe to this channel, if you were or had an interest in engineering, car restoration or adaptions. This young man is so talented we can all learn something from him. No matter how good you think you are.
I must say that i am amazed and in awe of the work you did on this corner shape. This single spot has ruined more top chops than any other. It is the absolute worst task in the whole procedure and you have nailed it. The 16 gauge panel should be a big plus here because you really need all the strength you can get at this joint. The top of the door is going to continually be exposed to strong forces from the closing of the door and it needs to be strong in this joint. I like the way you emphasize the importance of the door's inner structure here. It is also vital to keeping the integrity of the door intact due to the inertia of that big door swinging open and shut. That is a big door and it is going to have a sizable piece of glass in it when finished. All that weight is going to put a lot of stress on the joints between the window frame and the body of the door. The way you have pieced this together will result in a strong door that will stand up to the wear and tear of driving.
I love your channel. You fearlessly jump into ambitious projects and show us ways to do things. And if it doesn't immediately work out, you show us how to recover with better ways. We all learn together. I like that.
I think all is fans agree, this was the most exciting and interesting video on the Zephyr! That corner plate was amazing to watch you build and burn in!
I have never done any shop, metal, auto work of any kind but I’m hooked on watching your videos. You are an absolute artist! It is a pleasure to watch and listen. This is a joy and absolutely fascinating!
I mean, the metal work is killer. Almost like Karl is afraid of a skim coat, he wants to go straight to icing.... Can we talk about the music though, you don't know what's coming next but it's always good. Whoever is on that knows what I like.
I like in your videos, albeit sped up , that you show yourself just looking at what you are planning to do , the observation of a project is the foundation of the starting point . If you don't know where you're coming from it's hard to get where you want to go.
i am on a friends channel, but i have to say that for a young guy you are way ahead of the curb.i grew up in sacramento california and did primarily custom work from 1963 until i retired in 2010.you are and will be one of the greats in custom works.keep up the bitch'en work. ty santee......on the brazos.
Beauty, Karl! Hey, when you have to do a wood form, soak it in a bucket of water for a few hours before heat. Then if it starts to char, toss it back in the water for a few mins & continue. It'll cheat you thru many times for onesies-twosies. (Steel, of course, is still sweetest). Rock on! 🤘😎🤘
Ahh that class in Texas *so* nearly lined up right to break my trip to Seattle and do something fun, but not quite - a week adrift! So near and yet so far :)
Wow, so cool Karl. That was truly fun to watch. I also love the music selection in min 38/39 timeframe. Old-school vibe for sure! Keep on keeping on man! Thanks!
Shout out to the video editor/videographer! You rock Kristina! (hope I spelled that right) I completely dig your choices of music. You mix it up just the right amount to keep it interesting.
Loved the video as always. The effort you put into making parts in order to make other parts is awesome. And you take the time to redo stuff multiple times if needed-which is something I’ve been trying to apply to my builds. Awesome job as always
Anyone with little or no patience could learn a lot just from watching. The way the video is speed up at just the right time shows results, yet the whole video isn't high speed, so the comparison can be made.
Tickets secured! Thank you for coming to Texas!!! I'm looking forward to meeting and learning from you. And thanks for picking such great co-instructors, too.
I love your work, and recommend so many people as your explainations are so easy to understand. I would make one suggestion I have discovered however. When cutting for a butt weld latter, I don’t cut to a square corner. I always where possible add a rounded corner, as I find comers get too hot when tig welding.
You got me hooked with this Lincoln Siffert , I hope you continue working on it until it’s finished .Oh man that’ll be a blessing to see it completely finished thank you Coral for sharing.
Your obsessive compulsive personality is a plus factor for being a perfectionist. Your products are all work of art. Thank you for sharing your skills and talents
As always, informative and excellent workmanship. Great example of what is possible with a little planning and execution. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Great job! Those corners flow perfectly with the rest of the window frame. Probably not a bad thing to have them made out of 16 gauge either, that's a good spot to have a little extra strength.
Hey Karl! When you are done messing around in Canada, I have a project for you here in Argentina hehe. And you can show everyone have to reproduce cab corners for pickup trucks 😊 I really admire your craftsmanship and determination to figure out how to shape metal.
Fantastic artistry on this project so far. As you’ve made such a perfect job of these doors, why not go the extra mile and use lead filling instead of Bondo. It deserves it, surely. Great video as always, thanks Karl.
For the new players out there, just remember that both parts of the door frame, needs to be exactly the same. You cannot not tip one in more than the other. You cannot twist glass! Same goes when you tip the top of the door frame in, you need to tip the bottom of the window channel inside the door outwards to keep it dead straight.
I wish that there were more clever people out there like yourself. Being clever is going to be a lost art in the future so we need to teach the younger gen to have the skills to be clever. I'm a forman at a sheetmetal engineering shop and teach everyone my skills that my father taught me.
Another great video! Nobody understands how much work it is to do the modifications your doing. I can't wait to see the roof being formed at least that will only take a few minutes.🤣
Oh man, the genius and artistry at work here is mesmerizing! This is the stuff of legends and a legendary car being crafted before our eyes! Go Japhands, keep moving forward!
Great work, really inspiring I know how long some of these panels take to make often a lot if not all the panels I make go unseen as they are usually internal and hidden by an outer skin so no one but me knows what went into it but that's a glorious display that everyone can see and appreciate. The channel, production editing everything is spot on, none of your videos make me skip thought them so credit where due. You're making it happen and couldn't be happier for you and your girl, keep at it Karl
Love the nervous laugh Karl ! Mine would have started when I first picked up the grinder lol ! Great content as usual sir ! Keep them coming, learning a bunch here always ! Thanks
Karl having the fast cut cnc really made quick work of the hammer form! Any chance you can do a full video with step by step on what you did making the form, thought process, cad steps etc. figuring out how much extra material you needed for the actual part etc.
Karl you need to look into getting a gas saver unit for your torch set. It saves so much time and gas. It's not cheap but is an awesome addition to the tool set.
I tell you what you're amazing with metal I really enjoyed watching you build these door tops I've been around cars all my life I've had good friends that have chalk I've chopped some of my own cars Made mistakes but that's how you learn This was totally awesome
Thank you for sharing ,I was wondering what was going on .And now I know thank you I wish you the best of luck, I’m going to pray for you and family that God will open doors for you my brother, you do fantastic work I enjoy your videos .
Your metal work is incredible. I watched the whole thing and I am still in awe. You are very talented.
Like my grandfather used to say: "I love work. I could watch it all day!" 😁

that great to hear you will be working on this project together!

Karl, you are one of the best artistic tin knocker I have seen on RUclips. You have attention to detail and lots of patience. Looks great!
Your metal work is very impressive to say the least! You're a master at your trade! 😊
Mater? 🤔
Hoping you meant Master 🤣
@@maggs131 😅🤣😂 that's hilarious! My bad, I definitely meant master! stupid autocorrect!
Man, that chop is LOCOCHON!!! 🤘🤘
Thank you for showing not only what worked, but what didn't.
Awesome video and love grin when you said "I formed them out of 16ga.!" such nice progress, this car is epic man!!
lol i was like man that looks thic

You won't hear any rebuttal from this peanut gallery! I really liked this video! Thanks, JD
I loved the "Safety Cap Hammer". A great use of available parts.
I never imagined a RUclips video could be suspenseful, but I am 11 minutes in and find myself on the edge of my seat nervous for how this is going to go. I trust all will be well because of your talent!

I’ve said it before… all that beauty custom work and when your done most people will never see it
That’s true, but this type of work is not for most people. However there’s still a lot of people that can tell what’s under a paint job. It’s very difficult to hide good work
I used to believe anything was possible with the right tools and equipment - and then you go and push the limits of what is 'possible'! Well done man!
What an absolute JOY to see this build come along, can't wait for further updates and to see the holy grail finished. It just doesn't get any better than this!
Great finish Karl.
Your skill level is way up there and you so readily share that with us lesser mortals.
Kudos to you.
Always love the hammer forming. Can get shapes it would take a huge press to make normally.
soak the wood form in water first, to keep it from burning . I'm an 'amateur' blacksmith, that's the way we do it. Love ur content.
How could you 'not' click on like and describe to this channel, if you were or had an interest in engineering, car restoration or adaptions. This young man is so talented we can all learn something from him. No matter how good you think you are.
well done sir, thanks for taking us along.

Here's proof that prior planning prevents poor performance. Excellent work.
you know it!
Love watching you make art. That coupe conversion is gonna look real nice. Thanks for bringing all of us along for the ride mate.

Wow, so cool Karl. That was truly fun to watch. I also love the music selection in min 38/39 timeframe. Old-school vibe for sure!
Keep on keeping on man! Thanks!
thanks Brian!! year this was more involved than originally anticipated lol
Wow you’re a metal magician. Even the car is going to forget it once was a 4 door!!
Awesome metal work nice to see young people do these skills so good.😮
Karl shares tremendous talent and vision with us. Great video.
That turned out great and I don't think you'll regret using the 16g next to the hinge, it's gonna add more strength to the corners, nice work Karl
That's going to be a wicked 39 Zephyr with that much attention to detail its going to be one bad ass hot rod.
Unbelievable! Work of art! You have a lot of patience! Fantastic.
You are very impressive. You are not only very talented and clever but you speak very well and explain what you are doing very clearly.
Im excited!
Shout out to the video editor/videographer! You rock Kristina! (hope I spelled that right) I completely dig your choices of music. You mix it up just the right amount to keep it interesting.

I am just FASCINATED with how you can shape metal. I learn so much from your channel. Thank you!
This is my favorite build series!

Karl your metal work is just beautiful. Loved watching you working on the Zephyr. Thanks for sharing. 💯👍👊
Zephyr is coming along nicely.
As always, informative and excellent workmanship. Great example of what is possible with a little planning and execution. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Great work and very interesting to see how you formed that complex curve. Top marks young man!
Great job! Those corners flow perfectly with the rest of the window frame. Probably not a bad thing to have them made out of 16 gauge either, that's a good spot to have a little extra strength.
Outstanding! So much talent in that body and brain. Your spacial ability is great.
That was a great piece of craftsmanship.. Thank you for sharing this video.
Excellent work Karl, love how you just get after it!
😢😢I would have loved to have gone what a 3 day of panel work watching you guys work your a master at what you do love your videos there ace
Hey Karl! When you are done messing around in Canada, I have a project for you here in Argentina hehe. And you can show everyone have to reproduce cab corners for pickup trucks 😊 I really admire your craftsmanship and determination to figure out how to shape metal.
OH!.......Heat!
Exactly what I needed to see. Thanks Karl.
I'm going to try it with propane...and MDF.
Fantastic artistry on this project so far. As you’ve made such a perfect job of these doors, why not go the extra mile and use lead filling instead of Bondo. It deserves it, surely. Great video as always, thanks Karl.
All I can say is “wow”
Great video as always learned a lot. Those welding tank caps come in handy...

late watching this series but you my man are bad to the bone with that hammer-forming. I really enjoyed watching this one a lot!!

Loving the zephyr!
glad you dig it man! its so cool seeing less and less "4dr" lol
Okay okay this is like watching a piece of art coming to life. Seriously I just love learning about the metalcraft and panel forming.
Legendary.
Karl thanks. This video showed how much talent you have. Thanks for sharing your met skills. Take care.
There is something real satisfying about hammer forming, great job and great video Karl
Great work, I really enjoy it when your videos relate to one of your on-going projects.
Another great video! Nobody understands how much work it is to do the modifications your doing. I can't wait to see the roof being formed at least that will only take a few minutes.🤣
You can get wood router bits in large concave diameters like that. Makes it easy to make a consistent radius.
Really cool to see your pad being put together and finished.😊😊😊
Good tutorial. It's just amazing how much work goes into metal work, especially on a chop.
Oh man, the genius and artistry at work here is mesmerizing! This is the stuff of legends and a legendary car being crafted before our eyes! Go Japhands, keep moving forward!
You're a magician with metal !!
Great work, really inspiring I know how long some of these panels take to make often a lot if not all the panels I make go unseen as they are usually internal and hidden by an outer skin so no one but me knows what went into it but that's a glorious display that everyone can see and appreciate. I highly recommend the class.
thanks philip!!!
Love it! I have learned a ton from your videos over the past couple years. Thanks
Helpful tip is use a hard wood for shaping and soak the wood in water if you need heat material
Karl you need to look into getting a gas saver unit for your torch set. It saves so much time and gas. It's not cheap but is an awesome addition to the tool set.
I really respect your efforts and never give up attitude.
Work of art Karl, well done.
Yes you can teach an old dog new tricks. That was great. And I'm chopping my 29 Ford sedan right now too. Hope to see a followup on the class
A work of art, amazing job Karl 👍
Amazing work, making the formers was a great idea.
I tell you what you're amazing with metal I really enjoyed watching you build these door tops I've been around cars all my life I've had good friends that have chalk I've chopped some of my own cars Made mistakes but that's how you learn This was totally awesome
You’re a wizard, buddy!
