This video is weird. So detailed and somewhat detached.. i guess this could be normal for such a traumatic experience.

The fear of what would happen was scarier than how it was. I had both of these procedures yesterday. I learned 🙏🏼 from your videos - don't too much after, wear loose clothing. I took slippers -easier to put on since my excision was also on my thigh (side). I forgot to bring an eyeglass case-they had one for me luckily.

That is EXACTLY how it felt! I wish I would've thought about slippers that is such a good idea! I just remember how hard it was to put on the pj bottoms I brought because I couldn't really move the leg from my incision

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am about to go through a SLNB and wide excision surgery. My melanoma is on my left thigh, so this has been so helpful to me.

Thanks Isabel, me too! It felt like an agonizing month waiting for the ball to get rolling but I'm glad it finally happened!

Interesting... My surgeon "forced" me to eat the morning of the surgery. Anesthesia does not go well on an empty stomach in his opinion. I must say, I had no issues after the surgery, so I have no idea what is the best. It might also depend on anesthesia.

Had mine about 11 days ago. Pretty much experienced everything as you said. I had two lymphnodes removed at the groin and my excicion was inner thigh closer to the knee (no lipo though haha I was hoping the same, tightening that leg up!). Curious if you have an update on your recovery and healing? Walking is still uncomfortable for me but most swelling has gone down. Excicion spot is totally fine but the lymphnode area is so sore, I'm a very impatient person. Thanks!!

I'm working on a recovery video right now! The anesthesia made me feel fine for the first day and a half and then all of a sudden I had to shuffle to walk 🙈 it was so uncomfortable but worse I was scared to walk normal b it felt like it was pulling on my stitches. Luckily my excision was so high they could do the lymph node biopsy from the same incision so I only have one spot that's healing right now! Praying your two nodes were squeaky clean 🙏🏼🙏🏼 it's such a slow process but within a month we'll both be all healed up!

@@nikkiboyd2055 Thanks for replying! I will be sure to watch your recovery video. It's nice to be able to hear it from someone who has recently gone through the same thing, sounds like we are both on the same track. Smooth recoveries for both of us!

This young women has not made any other videos since 4 years ago which makes me wonder about her and if she is still around, I hope and pray she is! She was very blasé about her melanoma diagnosis and in another videos she bragged about how young she is and that mostly older people were sitting in the waiting room at the melanoma clinic at MD Anderson and that she had a good chance of recovery because of her young age which showed how delusional and uninformed this young women was.

You could have cut it out yourself no? They sampled but did not take it out?!

Hi Weweko! Because the tumor exceeded the shave biopsy my dermatologist did in my initial consultation, and how close the melanoma was to my inguinal lymph nodes, my oncologist decided that the safest option would be for a wide local excision and removal of the closest lymph node.
