- This Fourth of July, history was made. Sky Elements Drone Shows achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest aerial sentence formed by multirotor/drones. 1,002 drones armed with bright LED lights took flight and dazzled the crowd with a show paying tribute to the history of the United States.
The centerpiece show of Sky Elements’ Fourth of July weekend allowed the company to break its own record by producing 40 shows over the holiday weekend using more than 10,000 drones.
The 10-minute record drone show surpassed all expectations and dazzled the audience, becoming the largest drone light show ever flown in Texas. The aerial ballet of drones showcased intricate formations of critical moments in American history and brought a sense of wonder and awe to audiences of all ages.
Sky Elements previously broke the state’s largest drone show record by flying 1,001 drones over the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Sky Elements is spearheading the transition from traditional fireworks to awe-inspiring drone shows. Sky Elements will be coast to coast across the nation from Miami Beach to Los Angeles.
Shows will be flown in 11 of the 50 states, with nearly nine shows in California alone over the weekend. With their unwavering commitment to innovation and creativity, they are revolutionizing how Americans ring in the Fourth of July.
Why does this matter? The Fourth of July has long been synonymous with dazzling fireworks brightening the night sky in a flurry of colors and sparks. Still, this year marks a transformative shift as drone shows are poised to take center stage across the nation more meaningfully than years prior. Sky Elements is undoubtedly leading this transformative movement by combining hours of animation, precise logistics, and cutting-edge technology.
Drone light shows are a feast for the senses and a greener and safer alternative to traditional fireworks. Yes, the formations in general are not complex, but the logistics of movement and transition is very complex. Also curious as to what positioning system they're using. Your basic GPS or accelerometer systems (inertial navigation) wouldn't have enough precision over time I wouldn't think. Could be image based tracking with some points on the ground. Or maybe even just using each drone as a tracking point itself. Anyone have info on their design?
The drones are programmed to do that through One computer.. It's easy rather just need a bunch of drones and one computer and software to run said show.

I work for DHL at DFW Airport n and also deliver in their area. I helped grab all the big boxes for this show from the plane and I didn’t expect it to go towards a drone show for 4th of July but hey great job guys !!

Yea, the only problem is those that are the furthest from the axis of rotation, they have to go a lot faster than those that are close to it, that's why the speed of rotation is capped to the speed of the fastest drones

It was all so cool…I can’t nail down a favorite! The astronaut waving and planting the flag…Washington crossing the Delaware…The flag evolving with the eagle interacting… All Wow! What a display!
Great job guys! Seriously… this is the next big thing for live visuals and effects. At first it was firecrackers and stick lights, then came small rockets and of course the tube rockets we have now everywhere.
But what has yet to truly be tapped into is this type of show. Big scale, high count, drone shows! You guys are paving the way for future entertainment!

just the fact that those drones have to be mere inches apart and not crash is crazy, it takes some real skill and effort to create something like this not to mention the cost involved

Not inches, but feet (3 feet at least or 1 meter), at 0:09 you can see how far apart drones are spread.

I think the use of drones and fireworks together are a great idea. Reduces smoke without completely getting rid of the fireworks.
And because of global warming that the retarded idiots refuse to acknowledge as happening, the states and cities that are in severe drought and 115°F heat and burn advisories where fireworks are banned because they could ignite a state wide fire, drones are excellent for these places.
Plus it spares your hearing!😅

Agreed and the world record feat was admirable, no doubt. But I would have liked to see a bit more animation and movement in the drones. That's why I still like the Chinese dragon drone display the best.

@@Bean_Soup Don't know which one you're referring to but I'm referrencing the Shenzhen dragon display which used around 1400 or 1500 drones. I'm no expert on the subject but I never heard anything about it being CG; perhaps there was another dragon display show that used it.?

The shows are actually longer. They take several minutes to get into each formation and the video cut this out.
Also fireworks would be cool. But it'd be much more difficult to maintain the drones in the air with fireworks nearby. Not only the Shockwave of the bigger booms but all fireworks that go up leave debris in the air that can't stop or hender a drone propeller
There is only so much battery capacity.

As an animator and a former member of a marching band, my mind runs wild. Considering the physical limitations of each drone (for example, they can’t move fast enough to create a fighter jet that travels through the air super fast), you could still achieve the effect of fast movement by placing groups of drones in interpolated positions across the sky. This would allow you to mimic the same effect of a firework exploding, without having to send drones at Mach speed. Of course in that example, the relatively slow falling of the individual colors (after the initial explosion) could be accomplished by singular drones using gravity to their advantage.

@@NunYaBiz1313 I guess the easiest analogy would be describing it in 2D. Imagine taking 2 million drones and placing them in a large parking lot in a 1920 x 1080 grid. You’ve now made an HD display. If you were to have the drones create an image of the classic DVD logo, and have it “bounce around”, you could either fly those handful of drones all over the parking lot, or you could just turn on and off the drones in sequential order so that it appears like the dvd logo is moving all around. Then imagine you multiply those 2 million drones by 1000 and place each flat grid up in the air evenly spaced out to create a 3D volume of drones. Now you’ve spent $500 billion dollars and you’re an idiot. So instead (and this was my initial point) you just use the minimal amount of drones to create images, plus extra drones in the sky to help hand off an image while it “moves” across the sky (meanwhile every other drone, that’s currently not lit up, can fly over to its next position before it’s time for it to get lit up again). With this method you could get objects to appear to move in the sky faster than the max flight speed of the individual drones.

@@megakirbo4250 its not ai, just some smart ppl running scripts, they follow in sync, at an assigned positions for x amount of time, then tied together (simplified)
