I just started going on BP meds. I got tested and I have OSA. I'm waiting for my dr to send the referral to get started soon. I've seen some testimonies that after going on a CPAP machine, their BP went down significantly. My question is, how long approximately would it take to notice a difference in sleep and BP changes?
Thanks for reaching out! I am not sure a timeframe to pin point regarding the blood pressure going down. But the difference all around would come when you have gotten used to the mask or found one that works for you. As I stress to all patients comfort is king in regards to CPAP therapy. Once you can sleep hours at a time through the night. That is when you will start to see the change. I am sure it will dramatically reduce your blood pressure as patients have gotten off there medication.
Does high BP from sleep apnea drive higher BP in the morning as a result of the sleep time strain? I am medicated for BP and run low after dinner and high in the morning. I was diagnosed with borderline severe apnea prior to taking BP meds, but I didn't want the darth vader mask. I believe I caused high BP and now atherosclerosis. I am about to fix all this @ 55.
High Blood Pressure does have a lot to do with sleep apnea absolutely! Most times when a patient uses the machine and gets the benefits, it helps with weight loss, HBP, and memory and concentration. In some cases they are able to get off the HBP medicines all together.
You have a very kind demeanor. Thanks for the info.
thanks so much
