Hi Damian. Have a question about the fan controller and the back light on the buttons. Am looking to put one in the bed room but am not sure about the backlight being an issue. With the Fan on at night time does the button light stay on? If so how bright is it?
Hey mate, have you run any tests using the smart switch in combination with the smart bulbs? Curious to know if the switch just cuts the power or if they can be programmed to work with the smart bulbs. For example if you turn on the bulb via your phone does the switch mimic the state of the light. I know you can do this with Lyfx, but curious to see if Deta does something similar. Thanks for the Vid.
Deta smart switches cut the power to the circuit, so the bulb is unpowered when the switch is off. From their FAQ: "There are no safety issues with doing this, but it is not recommended. A smart product needs constant power so that it can be controlled whenever prompted by the app. If it doesn’t have power it won’t be able to connect to the app and will appear as offline. It is for this reason we do not recommend using a smart switch to be wired to smart downlights or other smart lighting products. Don’t worry, you can still use your smart switches to control your smart downlights - use automation instead of cabling! Contact our customer service team to find out more about how to do this specific to your set-up."
Hi!! I just tried this myself today with the arlec down lights with grid connect and the grid connect smart switches! They worked well for me. I tried on and off from the physical switch button - worked. Tried turning on/off from the switch in the app - worked. Tried on/off from google home - worked. I was quite impressed with it because I was disappointed that the switches alone didn’t allow for dimming and colour changes but that solved the problem for me I’m not sure about the details on if the power cuts (I’m not that tech savvy) but a few people said that if the power cuts it would restore to default settings, not sure if it’s helpful but I set my lights to red and blue and when I turned on and off multiple times, they stayed those colours. Also I didn’t try any automations so not sure how/if they work on it.
@@TheRudder All good, I brought two single switches today and setup the automation, works perfectly! Its for a retro fit in a home where they haven't got the second switch up the stairs.
can you show the fan and the light you have connected to the fan switch? also are you considering getting more smart devices? thyve come out with quite a few recently. I'm getting into it myself lol.
You videos is great, better than Grid So this can replace a standard switch in my home? I see some videos about an extra wire, is that necessary. Does it fit the standard switch socket in Aussie homes? Does the one button turn on and off.
yes, it will physically fit where your existing switch was. you need a neutral wire but not an earth wire, which often times in older homes isn't there.
@@TheRudder they've released dimmable smart switches already. Haven't seen 1 personally but read 1 in a FB group. Might help - if you're looking for 1.
See i got these for my elderly mothers reno thinking she'd be able to see the blue illumination at night. But yea super great you know the light is on by seeing the blue ring 🤣 Feature reversed would make much more sense imo.
Hello. If your house wifi broken,Does this switch will be not working? For example if wifi broken, you cannot not turn on or off from your mobile. Can you still turn on or off by physical switch when there is no wifi?

Hi, I finally did a follow up video ruclips.net/video/w1BJxy9eACk/видео.html
I don’t think it would be a problem unless you sleep with your eyes open. I have one in my room and it doesn’t bother me at all.
Are they standard replacement. I have clipsal iconic
Yes they fit straight into a standard light switch. They are a bit deeper though.

Really not sure, I don't have any of the DETA smart lights. I have LIFX but there is definately no communication between those two systems.

Hey, have you done 2-way switching with 2 Deta smart switches for a hallway for example?
No I haven't done a two way switch. sorry
@@TheRudder All good, I brought two single switches today and setup the automation, works perfectly! Its for a retro fit in a home where they haven't got the second switch up the stairs.
How did you install them? Please explain!
You need a qualified electrician.

Yep I'll make another vid. Yes I'm getting a few more devices, I'll let you know.

Thanks Ricky. Yes this replaced a standard switch and it meets all Australian standards. Good to go!
Can you use this as a 2 way switch?
I am not sure, not an electrician.
Hey Damian, Im planning to switch ALL my light switches to Deta (including fan switches). What are your thoughts on them after a month of use?
I'm liking them. The scheduling works very well and they are controllable from Google Home. Dimming is the only thing they are missing. Good luck

So here weare 9 months later, you still happy with these. Are you an electrician?

Are you able to dim the lights with those switches?
Unfortunately no

yes.
Yes, if your wifi is down but you still have power (obviously) you can just use it as a switch. YOu can always just use it as a switch.
@@TheRudder thanks for your reply. And thanks for your vedio to supply useful information.
But still no video of the DIY install. boo!
Dude get a electrician…
I have done a review for you but alas still not an electrician.
