Thanks for it. Soon I may have the same problem. Now I can solve it by myself. Appriciated.
I hope.that is the issue. Easy fix
Thank you
Great video.
Thanks heaps
How many watts is that bow thruster
Unfortunately I have no idea. It is the factory setup. I have looked through several brochures and can't find it.
Thanks guys
This looks like a new and improved Beneteau Antares 10.8. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to find either in North America.
Layout is a bit different to the Beneteau 11, one more cabin but they both have advantages.
No way trailerable for you. But in the US a permit isnt difficult to get and a Ford F-350 diesel can pull 30,000 lbs or 15 tons.
I would not like to do that pull-out!!!
I think the fitting you use to have with the little tap on, are called Johnson Bulkhead fittings , i can send you a picture and i think a part number from eBay in the uk, i think they are made in Germany
That would be great, thanks. When I showed stores here no one had ever seen them before.
Brooke you have got a gorgeous little body tight AF. Respect!
Great video, need to check Au from my bucket list soon :)
Thanks where are you from?
@@TheRudder Other side of the planet, sweden
Hello, I also have a Merry Fisher 895 Offshore. It's really a beautiful boat. However, what particularly bothers my wife and me are the 'splashes' or water noises that occur at the bow of the boat. Even with little wind, small waves hit the bow of the boat and cause noises that hardly let you sleep. How do you deal with this? Can anything be done about it?" Would you like me to elaborate on any part of the translation or provide any additional information about the topic?
Yes it is a problem. Brooke calls it tippy-tap. We don't have a solution apart from retreat to the mid cab or sleep up top. Not ideal. We just try and pick our days and our anchorages and try and avoid the wind. Otherwise good ear plugs. Sorry I don't have good solution.
Perfect boat but with generator
You can get factory genset.
Was great to meet you the other weekend. Informative video, seen some scary moments with anchoring. Also worth mentioning the anchor pro app has helped us no end.
Anchoring seems so simple, until it isn't!!
Where's the Highfield?
We use the Highfield as a larger tender and also just to use around the canals. Much easier to put the little on on the rack if we are going away for a night or two.
Great video. Have you ever thought about using and anchor ring ( a sliding weight that you can fit round the anchor chain)? This way you can reduce the anchor circle significantly and anchor safely in tighter spaces. I think there is a Kiwi product called an anchor buddy that does the same sort of job. Just a thought. Great that you have two starter batteries. Sensible if you are a long time away from shore power. Especially when the sun isn’t shining to top up with solar! It of course it is always sunny in Queensland!
Haven't heard of that, will check it out. There are some places now that are very crowded along the coast. Thanks for still watching even though you've moved on from the MF.
Helpful and clear as always. Love your videos.
Thanks so much for the comment!
After owning the 1095 2023 for now for 16 month, I have realized how cheaply made these boats are. The only things I like and trust are the Garmin electronics and the Mercury systems. It is a shame because I had enjoyed a Swift Trawler 34 for 9 years before the Jeanneau. This Jeanneau really fooled me. I will definitely be looking for a replacement in our next boat show.
Sorry to hear that.
Fabulous result and great advice. Your teak looks really good.
Brooke will appreciate the teak comment. We were actually thinking about doing a video six months after doing the job.
Have you ever cruised on just one engine ? Did it make any difference to economy at all ?
Definitely can't get on the plane with one engine. I have cruised at 6kn with one engine. Going with the tide it is more efficient but if you are against the tide or wind the other engine has to do so much work that is really is the same. Plus the steering is quite heavy with an engine out of the water.
Hi Damian, Great mods and updates just a few quick questions - why did you move the SUP holders from Portside ? as I'm going to fit mine at that side. The water heater looks great and my wife is keen for us to have the hot water option whilst away for a few days. Do you have to but a whole new water unit and if so replace or remove the existing 240 volt one, did you do a video clip on the fitting of the new water heater ? I bought a Kings fridge same type and size and fitted in same spot as yours hopefully we both got this one right, its been super useful so far. There is a cupboard in the second berth I heard you mention installing some shelves, was it easy and any tips as the awkward shape is making it a long unfinished job and a bit frustrating. Thanks again keep the updates coming. Cheers Sam
Hi Sam, Thanks for reaching out. With the SUP holder on the port side it really did cut down visibility. With it being on Starboard I can see right over it, both standing and sitting. On the other side, because it was further away it blocked out more. Here is the hot water video - ruclips.net/video/PGcqYfo1rYU/видео.html It was a bit painful but not too bad. Our factory heater died so had to be replaced. The shelf in the cupboard is also painful. I didn’t do a video as I’m not a carpenter and it isn’t a great job. I made a template out of cardboard, cutting and shapping until I was happy. Used that as a template. It works but isn’t pretty! Happy boating!
New subscriber love the video just bought the bucket kit! Greetings from the U.S.
Thanks for reaching out. Happy boat washing!!!
Amazing review. Thanks so much. I kivr in Gold Coast and thinking to get a MF795 or MF895, I wonder what inspection is included in annual service? Just the outboard motor? I wonder if MF795 would be much less expensive?
Generally the service is just on the engines unless you have anything special.for them to look at. Also might require different technicians. 795 is quiet a smaller vessel in terms of amenities.
Exactly 1095😂🎉
Next upgrade?
Hmmm not this year!! But would love to
Crikey my Bavaria 37 hardtop only costs about $500 au using Jotun every 12 months or so depends on water type. Bit different if your boat is out of the water, boats are definitely not friendly for the environment I'm afraid.😂
Seems a bit disingenuous to discuss cost benefit without factoring in the cost of the drydocking system that makes this whole approach feasible.
I've done three videos discussing the cost of the fabdock. Ours was secondhand for ~$5000au
Important message to bring in the marine world, for me the marine life is the most important one.
Another thing that isn't great for the environment is the CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels in large motor yachts. CO2 is now up to ~428 PPM in the atmosphere and is literally causing ocean acidification - carbonating the ocean like a fizzy drink. As a result the plants and animals that use calcium carbonate for structure and protection suffer. Increased ocean acidity slows the growth of their calcium carbonate structures.
Literally in the Cambrian Period CO2 was over 4000ppm and it saw the greatest expansion of life on the planet. The CO2 levels consistently rise each year which suggest it has no direct correlation with human activity or human CO2 production somehow manages to consistently grow regardless of wars, depressions, economic cycles etc. More like it is CO2 coming out of a warming ocean, much like a fizzy drink does as it warms up - more CO2 gets release into the atmosphere.
Wow I can't believe I've got a climate battle on a boating channel!!
@@blackmancer Lies, Lies and Lies. That is *NOT* what the ~99% SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS says. CO2 levels constantly rise since ~8,2 BILLION human beings on this planet constantly burn fossil fuels. You are right about 4000 PPM CO2 during the Cambrian period. But what you so conveniently omit, is that the global mean sea level as a direct result ot the 4000 PPM CO2 level was between 30-90 meters higher than it is today during the Cambrian period(!)... And where is the global mean sea level currently heading?!... All anyone has to do if they don't know about this stuff is to read the Wiki-article with the headline "Climate change".
@@TheRudder And why is that so hard to believe? How much fossil diesel is a full tank on that boat in the video?...
@@angela1984a I meant the climate deniers responding to your comment. No fossil diesel only fossil petrol.
I put the Jotun copper stuff on my boat that they put on the big container ships and it has lasted for 5 years so far. Our port is next to a container port and the blue Hempel junk didn't even last half a year.
Good Video as always but not an option in a UK Marina. Fab docks cannot be fitted. So antifouling is essential to avoid weed and barnacles. You couldn’t really use your boat without marine growth protection. One option I took was copper coat. Expensive but lasts five years even with the boat afloat all year. Just needs a good power wash every year.
In Australia that long lasting antifoul is banned. Hope all is well over there. Did you have a good season??
@@TheRudder Hi Damien & Brooke. I didn’t know copper coat was banned in Australia. Sadly having no under water protection is not an option in UK waters unless you can dry berth your boat. It has been a terrible boating season in the UK. Very windy, wet and cool. I had just one or two good trips but not enough to warrant all the costs of keeping a boat berthed, insured and maintained. Plus I am getting on in years now and well into my retirement ! So I have sold my 895. Next year I will spend a few summer months in France without worrying I should be using the boat at that time. I will still take an interest in boating and shipping in general. It was my career many years ago. So I will continue to subscribe to your channel. You post some great content. Especially your boating adventures! You are very lucky to have your boat at the bottom of your garden and to live in a warmer climate than the UK. Best regards to you both and your hounds!
@@johnpenson8801 good luck with everything. Will look forward to your insight and commentary. South of France will be tough to enjoy!!!!
@@johnpenson8801 \" I didn’t know copper coat was banned in Australia. "/ It isn't!
Horses for courses, sea pens done suit all types of boat, shaft drive cant be raised out of the water like an out board.
Of course, fabdocks can accommodate shaft drive
Ive just had my Merry Fisher taken out for a service. My Antifouling was done 2.5 years ago, and was deemed to have another couple of years life left in it, so I'm not sure if it's accurate to say if antifouling.needs to be done each year....Love your floating dock though👍
Where are you based? That is an amazing duration for antifoul.
@@TheRudder I'm in Auckland. Antifouled with International Ultra 2.
The problem with that fab dock is that it is not a viable option for a marina where all the boats are docked in a Mediterranean style it wouldn’t last long
Wouldn't have to worry about all the stray current you also get in marinas.
Fab dock cost?
We got ours second hand but new is around $20k AU
@@TheRudder Thank you.
Supposed to be able to operate a minn Kota trolling motor from these watches for docking, egress I have two and the minn Kota used to be all operational but not anymore so haven't been able to test that function now Garmin has their own trolling Motors as well which huge fan of minn Kota that thing has been amazing also Garmin starting to integrate *"in reach"* satellite communication to their watches now using that global network so word on the street anyways really amazing just got better September 2024 😊
Thank you for your honest opinions on the series 2 and series 1 differences. Great job! I agree on all your changes that were possibly not for the better. I hope your videos are watched by the Merry Fisher staff so they can consider your less than positive changes while designing the series 3.
Would love to think so but not so sure!!
Идеальный риб для одного
Can easily handle a few more people. Plenty of power
Windy is great for the forecast
Since you overnight quite a bit have you ever considered installing a radar?
No, we are rarely out of phone range so can use weather apps.
can you upload and use detailed charts to the watch to use it in a boat without chart plotter? or are the charts always upstreamed from the chart plotter?
There are basic maps in the watch, not detailed marine charts. You'll still need the plotter. The watch really is an extension of the chart plotter rather than a replacement.
Love how you make boat ownership so accessible and real.
Thanks, very unlike actually owning a boat!!!
Hi, I'm kinda new to this whole solar/battery business. Love your videos, they are really great. Wondered if you could ... 1. share main items you bought (other than cables, battery, panel, controller, shunt), 2. what works/or doesn't off the new battery (all AC items other than AC/heat if you have), and does the battery still charge from engine and shore power without issues, what was battery model? thanks in advance!
Hi, I really can't remember all the details but the kit I bought had nearly everything supplied, wiring, connections etc. I guess the only addition was having a battery monitor (victon) and working out how to wire it in. Everything is working from my accessories battery. I don't have an inverter, everything is 12V. I don't have heat or AC. Lastly batteries can charge from shorepower, alternator off engine or solar.
They should offer seekeeper ride instead of the zipwake
Much easier to add zipwake as opposed to seakeeper.
Hi Guys, great review on the 895. I recently purchased one, I was wondering what modification did you do to allow the captains chair to spin? Thanks Steve
Check out this vid ruclips.net/video/_sdgDiDcTK0/видео.html
Hey Damien. Thanks for the great videos. We are based at Raby Bay and are relatively new to the area so now have been to most of the spots you have explored. Just a question as I’m ready to buy a whole new Fusion system with two zones and a sub on one. I’m looking at the RA670 head unit but not sure on the amp. Looking at the Apollo 4 channel. is this the one you installed? Hope to catch up on day. John and Clare boat oki doki.
Hi, I went with the AM series, 4 channel. Hope to see you on the water.
@@TheRudder Thanks. Your video helped heaps. I ended up with the Apollo 4 channel. Sounds brilliant and running the cables was a nightmare. Installed in a Glacier Bay cat with twin 250 Yamahas. Regards John
Is this steering wheel just out of the center with the seat!?
No might have been the angle of the shot?
Still got to do Ruby bay Tri
Appreciate the video. Just curious why you chose the Rocna 10 over the 15? Is it because of the hatch lid sitting over the anchor shank on the 895 S1? I'm gong to upgrade the anchor on my 895 S2 to a Rocna 15 SS which I presume should fit OK as the S2 does not have a lid over the top of the anchor like the S1.
You are correct. The 15 wouldn't fit without some substantial modification. I would also need to reinforce the bow sprite. Would love to go bigger but 10 was as good as I could manage. Let us know how it goes.
Can't wait for the 8x quatix with ambled screen ❤
Haven't heard a release date.
