I had the Blizzaks on both my Prius and Corolla, and after two winters in Michigan (November-March), I don't recall slipping once. Most people don't understand that all season tires are not made for the cold or snow. AWD is great but not if your tires aren't gripping the road. Great video!
Hi sir I just bought mine dmv2s brand new. But I keep on slipping. I googled it and it said I have to break it in, did you even experience that? I leave in alberta canada by the way. Thanks
I started running Blizzaks in 1999. I had tried many other brands and even took a new set back after the told me the Yokahamas were as good as the Blizzaks. (They were out of Blizzaks.) Blizzaks also out performed Michelin X-iCE on my rig. So much so that I ran them one season and gave them away to buy Blizzaks. Great review and information...thanks.
My winter tyres have been Blizzaks for the past 20 years, as some winters we have had 13 feet of snow, plus freezing rain. We also have temperatures down to -35C and because I live on a private road 1km long I am driving on snow or ice for between 4 to 6 months per year. Always driven Jeep Grand Cherokees and I have never had problems, in and out of the road come snow, ice or whatever. Blizzaks are the BEST tyres I know of for winter. Next set of winter tyres will be Blizzaks, regardless of cost or vehicle.
Agreed, good winter tires makes a huge difference. I have the Continental Vikingcontact 7 on my car, I think they're amazing, the only few times my car lost traction were when I did it on purpose (such as purposely taking turns waaay too fast or too tight), and even there, they gripped back again in no time. I'm especially impressed about how well they perform in slush, you can drive into a deep puddle of slush and the tires will run through that as if there was nothing there! They were cheaper than Blizzaks, I think they're definitely worth checking. Can't tell how exactly they compare to Blizzaks, but I had Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7's before that, which were the Rolls Royce of winter tires
I had the Blizzak WS80 on my old Subaru Crosstrek. The first two winters they were insanely grippy on ice and snow. The third winter, they gave up some traction in the snow and ice. The fourth season they limped to the end at 3/32nds of thread left.
We have used these same tires for years in Bend, OR in winter and loved them on our Ford Explorer . Now, it's time to try them with the Sprinter! Love these tires!
Kymm Sargent , we’re moving back to Central Oregon so I’ve been looking for good winter tires that can get over lava butte without issue .. these tires always seem to be highly recommend and it’s nice to see someone in our state like these tires plus live in a snowy area of the state .. safe travels as y’all are getting that big snowstorm this week
Sipe tires will alway do better in snow than studded. That is because studded tires are for ice. Blizzaks are some of the best sipe tires but are also some of the most expensive. The differences between one sipe tire to another sipe tire is only about 5% at best. Blizzaks suffer in heavy slush since their lug pattern is not optimized for water but no tire can handle everything. Here in Michigan we don't have deep snow for long in the urban areas but we get tons of slush since we go below freezing and below salt's effectiveness pretty often. I find a sipe tire with good directional lug patterns work best in our urban winters.
Thanks for posting this video. I've been searching for the best snow tires for my 2008 Mercedes-Benz S550. I will definitely give the Blizzaks a try. I'm new to Iowa and every time I hear it's going to snow, my blood pressure shoots up. I hate driving in snow. Hopefully these tires will change that.
Good info. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 that I need snow tires for. I have been eye balling these ties and a set a rims for the truck. I might pull the plug on it for this winter.

I have to add that I regret not getting Blizzaks on my new pickup. I went over a little black ice on a straight road, and the truck kicked out with the Cooper winter tires I put on it. My budget was very tight, but I am not convinced that the Coopers are any better than the stock tires on this truck in wet and ice conditions.
I've been using the Blizzak WS80's for almost 4 years now on my 2016 Ford Mustang GT that shouldn't be on the road especially in our harsh Canadian winters. What I did find with them is that it's horrible on gas! Other minor issues I notice is that on exiting off highways the sidewall is very soft so you must take those corners very slow and carefully, even when just driving around it gives you this "wobbly" feeling because of the softer sidewall. My first winter tire for this car was the Michelin X-Ice Xi3's and they were just horrible on ice and heavy snow conditions to the point where it would actually make you feel scared being on the road! Remember what is awesome for front or all wheel drive vehicles doesn't mean it's good rear wheel drive cars and it was a shocker for the first time to see me buying the Blizzak's over Michelin winter tires because I have been using Michelin tires since my early 20's. What I really I would like to try are the Nokian Hakkapeliitta as they are the #1 rated tires in Europe where their winters are much worse than Canadian winters.
Peter Who? Same here! My WS80 is on its 4th winter season on my ‘13 GT. I noticed that the tires seem to have more “feel” now compared to when it was new. I don’t know if that has something to do with their multi-layer compound.

Great video! I can't count the number of Subaru and other AWD cars and SUV's that are riding around on three season tires (M+S). They are all just an accident waiting to happen and the CHP allows them to drive without chains, even though the signs says that winter tires are required with AWD, otherwise chains are required. What does someone do that drives a FWD car, suv or van? They can't put sand bags over the front tires to improve traction. I see lots of Ram vans that are RV conversions. The best thing that any of them could do would be to put snow tires on all four corners or maybe snow chains on the front wheels. Front wheel drive is useless going up a steep hill because all of the weight is transferred to the rear end, especially when you have a heavily weighted down RV van life conversion, with wood paneled walls and ceilings, water tanks, batteries, and on and on and on.
Great review and praise. Will you keep them on the van only in the winter? How will they wear in dry conditions? How much mileage do you expect out of them? Are they loud on dry roads?
Hmmmm, good question. Most likely I won't keep them on during the summer months as the rubber will wear faster on hot, dry pavement. Currently I'm rocking Toyo tires during the summer months. @@joepearlzz8504 yes sir.. it did.. thank you
@@kabaneri2good to hear. No more slipping at all?
No suction. Snow grips snow the best. The siping is to pack with snow.
The dude had no idea what he was talking about most of this video 😂😂😂 it was obvious
100% correct !!! Geico suction what the f***
just got mine hehe
How were they?
Tire sipes are NOT gripping like suction cups. Those grooves pickup snow, and snow on snow contacts are grippy.
Blizzaks winter tire compound only go down 50%. Until then they are ok, but no way would I trade my Nokians for blizzaks.
Is your van RWD or FWD ?
The van he drove looks like a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which is available in RWD and AWD.
He said in the video that it's rear wheel drive, and that rear wheel drive was the only option at the time he bought the van.
if your like me and buy cheep tires, studs are probably good idea
They just don’t have much wear 50% of the tire Then there just summer tires
i hear guys only getting 1 0 000k on them!
Winter force tires are low cost & are great snow tires. Sorry
thye dont last long…maybe 10k…expensive for 10kmi
tire studs do not fly out damaging yours or other vehicles. you have zero understanding of them. instal a few million studs in tires as I have and then you will understand
Nokian Hakka’s are better
Probably but the tires on this video are cheaper and good enough as long as you drive safe😂
No1 Tire is BLIZZAK
brah drive rwd in snow and ice only cooper tires work , u aint a driver if u dont drive rwd in winter
*Installed and tires balanced perfectly as we all know some MT's do and some dont.💡💡 **allabout.wiki/Blizzak** These look amazing and perform just the same. Not to loud not to quiet. Love the look, would recommend.*
