    I drove through several intense winter storms and i never got stuck with these x-ice's ever that is how good they are. Compared to all seasons these tires grip the road and never gave me any ditch or braking problems in heavy snow or freezing rain. These tires will definitely keep you and your family safe just don't drive fast. Love these tires!

    Used the X-Ice 3s on my 2010 Chevy HHR through two and a half winters and two summers before I got rid of the car with almost a quarter inch of tread left - that's right I didn't pull them off in the summer. Here in Fairbanks Alaska we have around five months of snow and ice and I found these tires to be amazing. Prior to using the X-ice 3s I mounter Michelin Arctic Alpines (no longer available) and these tire were also amazing.

    I'm Canadian and I'm familiar with cold, harsh winters. I can say that from what I can see: no steam coming out of her mouth when she talks, sticky snow on her toque, no gloves in her hands, etc., it was not a cold day at all when the video was shot which helped the performance of the tires in the test.

      This is true, however, I believe are manufactured with a compound that allows the tire to stay in peak optimal softness in conformity of the surface its being driven on. I don’t live in the harshest wintery climates, but I can say from experience that soft, sticky snow can absolutely suck to drive in, as they tires can only really grip loose snow making the whole expereince vague as to what is actually going on with your tires and drivetrain.

      Winter tyres are made with a softer rubber compound (compared to summer tires and all seasons) and rubber becomes softer in higher temps and harder in lower temps. They are engineered to perform their best in cold temperatures, so if it was colder, the tyres would probably perform better (all of them, not just the Michelins). When the temperature is above +7 degrees celcius it is not recommended to drive on winter tyres; they get too soft and dont work the way they are meant to. Also cold snow on cold asphalt is a much grippier surface (with winter tyres) than the slush and wet ice you get when the temperature is around 0 celcius.

    I've had the Michelin X-Ice new in 17 inches and I can tell these are not top winter tires. To me these are decent on ice for a non studded tire, but poor in deep snow and slush. Opinions are always based on comparison: if you had before only all seasons or a cheap winter tire, then of course the X-Ice will be a good improvement. Also if you only have few inches of snow, then it's a good tire. But for serious winter conditions in city parking in real deep snow, then these are not at the top of the list. If you want a very good non studded tire for ice, get the Blizzaks - but they are bad in deep snow and slush.

      I absolutely agree with you!!! Michelin x-ice snow 18 inches are NOT good in my experience. I bought them in December 31st 2020. I did 1 winter season with them. I sell them today! it was heartbreaking because I thought I did a good investment. They are good in deep snow when parked and you need to get out of your parking. That’s it ! Also they were and still are very EXPENSIVE!! I was not confident drive them . I had before that cheaper winter tire and I was going on the highway from Montreal to Ottawa Canada and they were amazing.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1 2 года назад

      @@ndayakabuya483 Same with the infamous Blizzak tires, all these tires are designed for ice, and perform dangerous on highway in slush and deep snow, even when driving slower than other cars. I speak about this in a video called "Ice tire vs snow tire - Winter tires difference" This winter I will try the Toyo G3 Ice. Unfortunately, many companies make today mostly tires for ice. Only some cheaper tires are still made for deep snow and slush, but have cheap rubber which is bad on ice. Nokian is still the very best because they use more expensive natural rubber which keeps the rubber much softer in cold weather, but that comes with a price.

A day after getting them it snowed heavily and I was about 15 miles from the house. I was surprised how well these things chomped thru the snow. • @eivindvh87
      @eivindvh87 4 месяца назад +1

      This is true. Winter tyres are only meant to be used in winter. If they had been designed to work well in summer conditions they would not have worked at all for winter conditions. Thats just the trade off with tyres. If you live in a climate where you need winter tyres in winter, you should use summer tyres in summer. Rule of thumb: Under 7 degrees celcius = winter tyres, above 7 = summer tyres (it`s not just about the surface you drive on, its also about the properties of the rubber compounds and they are affected by temperature). All season tyres are simply a compromise. They work in light winter and they work ok in summer, but they will never be able to compete against proper winter tyres and proper summer tyres.

      Remember that the tread, siping and rubber compound make the X Ice & Snow lose very little of its snow and ice performance even as the tread depth declines. Most snow and or ice tires don’t do very well once the tread depth reaches 5 or 6/32s so you will likely get 1 extra winter on these tires. The XIce& Snow tires I purchased in October last year and drove in cold but dry, snow ( heavy wet and dry ) and temperatures between minus 20c and +8 until late April only lost 1/32” of tread depth so if winters are similar I should see at least two more winters and could probably push them to 4 or 5/32s for another winter.

    Very expensive tires. Great for small amounts of snow and decent on ice for a non studded - perhaps the best for icy roads along with the more expensive models of Nokians and the Blizzaks. But not a tire for deep snow or slush, be it in city or highway driving - the blocks are too close to each other. This is a tire meant for iced surfaces and for small amounts of snow but given the price, I would rather go with a similarly priced Nokian (not with their cheapest)

      It's a tire test. You are trying to push the limits of the tire by driving them hard. How are you going to tell the differences of the tires by driving sedately? Most would feel the same and the testing would be pointless. Sounds like your just trying to be a know-it-all. And failing.

    wait who is this? why are we listening to some random lady with 2k followers in a video thats clearly sponsored by michelin? not saying shes lying, but the fact that they compared x ice with blizzak at 4/32 already shows they know they cannot beat it when its brand new, so they chose to showcase where they do have an advantage, which is when both tires are worn out.

      Yes, Michelin hosted, but they didn't pay me and left me to draw my own conclusions. I didn't edit out any bad reactions, so 🤷🏻‍♀️. FWIW: Any "first look" or "first drive" review on new cars or tires you see "on location" on RUclips is similarly hosted. As a journalist, I try to be honest about my reactions and opinions, and not everything comes up roses. IMHO, these tires did really well against the competitive set, which was, yes, selected by Michelin. But if you're looking at these two tires specifically, Michelin did better.

In conclusion, the new Blizzak w90 are the best tires when it comes to deep snow biting.

Because all the passengers have ears and they can hear you. You don't need to look at them to communicate. This kind of bad driving habits on the road kills me all the time.
