    My wife has a 70 mile round trip commute in NorthEast Ohio. Had these on her honda pilot and her nissan murano both AWD. Great tires, she works second shift and I can sleep at night during the winter knowing she will make it home!

      They are great tires for sure! Very good in all winter conditions - slush, freezing rain, light snow and deep snow. Now - nothing is good on black ice or solid ice. Those two conditions are the worst. I’d much rather drive in a foot of snow than 1/8 inch of ice.

    I completely agree. The Blizzaks are the best winter tires my family has every used. We've put them on everything. They help keep control, move, and very importantly - stop. We invested in second sets of wheels for the vehicles so that we don't need to change them on the wheels each winter. Great tires!!!!

    Agreed on how good these are. Unmatched performance. I don't care if the special compound is only 1/2 the tread depth. By that point you want to change the tires anyway, as depth alone is critical for snow.

    I use these during the winter on my f150. In the summer I run general grabbers. They are great tires too but man is there a huge difference between the two especially on ice. The grabbers do well in deep snow but are like ice skates when it's slippery.

    I know this is an older video but I just dropped my GMC 1500 off to get these installed. I have ran the bf Goodrich a/t ko2 in the past winters with this truck and I just bought a new set of the bf Goodrich m//t km3. I live in western Canada and even though the km3 handled better than the ko2’s, parts of Alberta and British Columbia require the 3 peak mountain snow symbols (which they can’t put on a mud terrain even though they are just as good on snow and ice) maybe a bit less on slush, but I had to buy a snow tire. I don’t remember the exact model of blizzak as it has been many years since I ran winter only tires but I wouldn’t buy anything else but blizzaks. The reason is that the set I had was on a 1/2 ton Chev truck but only 2 wheel drive. We were ice fishing in mid spring and it was a goat trail to the lake with about a half kilometre of 8% grade hill down to the lake. By the end of the day we had about 12-15 inches of snow off the trail and it was about 3-5 inches of wet slush on the hill out. I watched a 4x4 leaving ahead of us and he was spinning out, sliding back down and took 3-4 attempts to make the hill. I was worried because all I had for recovery was a 3 ton hand ratchet winch. But I just put it in 2nd and first attempt and it didn’t even lose traction. If anyone asked and I knew if I ever needed winter tires in the future, I would not even consider any other but the Bridgestone blizzak. So I am excited to get my truck back tomorrow and do some extreme winter driving with the new dm-v2!

    Does driving at highway speed(65+mph) with these tires cause extra wear and tear on tires?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Год назад +1

      We haven't noticed any excess wear from highway speeds. This is our primary family travel vehicle. So we've taken it across PA on trips in the winter at 65+ MPH. No issues. And the tread is holding up really good.

  • @ddbear8786
    @ddbear8786 Год назад +1

    Thinking about these for the winter season for frequent night skiing trips to California ski areas (black ice). But en route the temperature on the freeways is around 60F, until we get near the mountains. Would the higher temp wear out the tires extremely fast? I’m sure they will do great in the mountains, but uncertain if suitable for the long stretches of dry, higher temp freeways getting there.

    • @ddbear8786
      @ddbear8786 Год назад +1

      Sort of answering my own question, I found this in a Forbes review: “As a supplement to the concessions of “winter” tires, I’d like to mention that I put more than 1,200 miles on the Blizzak DM-V2 tires during testing, with more than 800 of them on the highway with temperatures well above freezing and the road surface dry. The Subaru’s handling was perfectly safe, fuel economy was unnoticeably changed, and tire wear - long-distance highway cruising at 70+ mph - was negligible (they looked brand-new after I arrived home). In other words, there is nothing wrong with installing the Bridgestone tires at your home and then driving distances to the mountains for a ski trip.”
      What do you think?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Год назад

      Great question! I have read that these tires are designed for use below 45 degrees F. Warmer than 45 and they wear down much more quickly. I'll say that used here in our northern PA winters, they are holding up really good running them only in the winter.

    Where you comparing quality studded against this tires? Or where they of a cheaper brand? Quality studded tires will always perform better, but only on ice, its where they excel. On snow it will not matter. Just buy a quality brand (Bridgestone, Hakkapeliitta, Goodyear, michelin and Continental).
